Nokia Nseries :: 5530 Xpress Music - Hangs On Boot / Startup Failed
Jul 1, 2012I left my phone to charge one night before going to bed (pulled out the charger when it finished). The next morning the phone had shut down by itself and when I tried turning it on I got white lines accross the screen. That happened for a few more times (sometimes blue or green or red lines), and after I removed and put the battery back in the following has been happening since then : Starting the phoneWhite screen with Nokia logo shows upMessage "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer". Phone hangs. If I press the shut down button, lines appear and fade out before phone shuts down.
I tried the hard reset method, but either I am doing it wrong, or it just doesn't apply here. I tried connecting it to my PC, but it is not recognised (probably because a message to select PC Suite doesn't show up). The phone is a few months outside warranty, so it is not financially wise (or viable) to send it for repairs. I am an advanced user and I'm willing to try any flashing utilities guides to restore it to working condition. Could it be the battery needing a switch? I tried removing the memory card & SIM, but the problem persists.

Mar 26, 2010My nokia 5530 is not turning on anymore after I turned off the phone. It vibrates when I tried to turn on, but it doesn't show any picture, it is just a black screen. Tried to take memory card out n turning it on, but it didn't work. Taking out the battery and leaving the phone alone for 10 minutes didn't.

Nov 15, 2011Maybe this was posted already but i couldn't find it so here goes.My phone was turned off for like 2 weeks,and then i charged it and tried to start it it vibrated(like usual),the nokia blue letter logo showed and then it just stopped,the keyboard lights didn't light on and it just kept showing the logo.After 2 minutes the logo dispeard and the screen was white and only white.

May 4, 2010I have upgraded the firmware from v31.0.101 to v50.0.005 and I had the unpleasent surprise to find that the music player is no longer working. It plays only the files stored in the phone memory and is unable to update the library. It shows music files on the memory card that were deleted longtime ago and refresh library does not change anything: always shows refresh complete 0 files added. When I connect the phone to the PC, the Ovi Player doesn't see the phone and even the device manager shows that there is a problem with the portable device (conneced in PC Suite or Media Transfer modes). Done even a hard reset but nothing has changed except that it has lost the applications it had in the phone memory.

Feb 9, 2010So the update is available for the UK phones and I updated my 5530 to the v.20 firmware. Unlike what most users say that the phone is faster, I dont really find that to be the case. When I startup, it takes awhile longer. Sometimes the wallpaper appears and then disappears and then reappears again with the contacts bar and everything. The problem really seems to be the home screen. Every time I go back to the home screen or click on menu, theres a black line in the center, a flash n nothing happens or a flash n it works. Sometimes, the flash is not there and the menu just opens up. I dont really know how to explain that, but I hope uve got an idea of what i'm saying. I'm wondering if I should soft reset.

Jul 24, 2010Got the phone in trade, so no warranty...Phone works perfectly fine before any of this happens. Basically got the nokia software, updated ect. Go to update the firmware and do what the instructions says. It downloads the firmware and starts to install...halfway through says cable disconnected. Clearly it is not, but i do what the instructions says to reconnect it. It tells me to disconnect, take out batter, reinsert usb then battery and then hit retry. Works, but same problem, halfway thought it "disconnects". After trying this about 5 times i give up. I hit cancel. Now the phone is dead, nothing, can't hard reset, can't turn on. NOTHING.Currently have the phone without battery as someone online (googled) had similar situation and he left the phone for 6hours and it magically worked again...i don't think it will work but i have to try...

Mar 4, 2010I just bought a new Nokia 5800 Xpress music, i updated it to V40 and just after that updated my ovi maps application, while transfering maps using maps uploader, nokia pc suite appears and i got a message "another accurance of maps is opened" i closed it.
Now everything works, nokia maps opens normally but when i do a zoom out it closes and i must reopen it, i downloaded the latest version as a sis file and installed it, i also installed added the maps again but i got the same result, i'm not able to use nokia maps at all.

Jun 14, 2010I have had my Nokia 500 music Xpress for approx 8 mths now and i love it but about a month ago it turned itself off and i thought it was just a one off, it happened a few times, I would remove battery and sim and put them back in and turn phone back on. I will a get few days when i have no problems and then it will do it again sometimes 5 or 6 times a day.
Yesterday It happened and i really thought it was not going to come back on. Eventually got it back on but i havent a clue why it should keep doing this and don't have a clue what to do to rissolve it... is it the software/battery or the phone?
