View 6 RepliesAs the title said, my ovi suite crashed during the installation process of the new software ( 31.0.005 ). I did a backup of my phone, but don't know if this and how this is accessible? My phone wont start now.. I don't know what to do.
View 4 Replies View RelatedGot the phone in trade, so no warranty...Phone works perfectly fine before any of this happens. Basically got the nokia software, updated ect. Go to update the firmware and do what the instructions says. It downloads the firmware and starts to install...halfway through says cable disconnected. Clearly it is not, but i do what the instructions says to reconnect it. It tells me to disconnect, take out batter, reinsert usb then battery and then hit retry. Works, but same problem, halfway thought it "disconnects". After trying this about 5 times i give up. I hit cancel. Now the phone is dead, nothing, can't hard reset, can't turn on. NOTHING.Currently have the phone without battery as someone online (googled) had similar situation and he left the phone for 6hours and it magically worked again...i don't think it will work but i have to try...
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo this might be a little long winded, but it's just what I've been through so I cant' really condense it down anymore. So a few days ago now (almost a week) I received an SMS from Nokia telling me to update my phone firmware. I then hooked my phone up to my PC, and checked for software updates. I updated OVI Suite to the latest version, rebooted and then checked again. It found the update for my phone and asked if I wished to apply it. Naturally I said yes, it then told me I should backup my phone first, and then asked if I would like to do that now, which I said yes to, and chose to backup everything. It then downloaded the update, applied it, and then asked me to restore my phone, All of which appeared to work fine.A quick look through my phone to check everything and it all appeared normal, My custom theme was there, my facebook app was there, my contacts/photos/music were there. Oh but wait, I was missing my Sudoku game. A little odd, yes, but no worries I got that from the OVI store, I'll just be able to re-download it, because that's why you make purchases from app stores instead of publishers directly. No, apparently not. This game wasn't listed in my "My Stuff" tab in the OVI application. That's ok, I'll just download it from the SMS I was sent originally.
No. Not that either. The SMS link is no longer valid. So at a loss I decide to turn to technical support, I mean after all I have a technical issue I need support with.I e-mail technical support Basically telling them above. Then then ask for a transaction ID, which I have no record of (not sure why not?). I then provide even more information, ask them to escalate, ect. End result is, I don't get my game back. They have no record of me downloading this in the past, and for some reason it isn't available to download anymore.Frustrated, I e-mail the developer/publisher, explaining my situation. They respond promptly (within the hour), providing my with a link and SMS to download the application again, and apologise for Nokia's behaviour. Nice. I've now got my game back things are good again in my world. So with that little story in mind, I raise a few questions. Why was this application not backed up/restored with my phone backup? This seems like a pretty serious bug, especially considering that technical support won't provide download links for games or applications unless you can provide them with information provided by Nokia in the first place ( :s very round about).
My situation is pretty small in the whole scheme of things I guess. But if it can happen to me I guess it can happen to others. So why Nokia can things like this happen? What would have happened if this wasn't a small game, but rather a largish application, with data, that cost lots of money? Sure I could have gone directly to the publisher then as well, but if the purchase was made through the OVI store, what record would they have of me? This centralised store is supposed to handle all of these problems (ie, Steam or Apple App Store). Also how can bugs like this get through the alpha/beta testing of the OVI Suite backup utility? This must surely be considered a critical part of the application.Judging from my response from Nokia thus far, I'm not sure if I'm even expecting a response to this. I guess it should server as a warning to others if they think they can trust this software or even the technical support behind it to back them up in case of issues. My advise? Get a different brand phone.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've tried to update my E63 software using Nokia Suite v3.3.86 but in vain.
The steps I've followed in the 3rd step fo update process (i.e. Install) are as follows with screenshots attached:
1. It checks for valid installation file (see attached "Installation file validation.png"). Since the update has been downloaded by it previously, it proceeds to next step.
2. It starts preparing to install (see attached "Preparing to install.png").
3. It show USB connection active screen with a windows notification saying "Nokia E63 disconnected via USB" is seen on "Install screen". (see attached "Install Screen.png" for "Install Screen").
4. Next with the same USB connection active screen, a windows notification saying "Nokia E63 connected via USB" is seen on "Install screen".
5. The windows notification disappears and the screen is still at the "Install Screen" (see attached "Install Screen.png").
6. Nothing happens even after waiting for a long time. Clicking "Next" repeats the above mentioned process from step 2.
Dialing "*#0000#" gives the following info:
"500.21.009
02-06-2010
RM-437
(c) Nokia E63-1 (308.06)"
Is there a way to charge it up with the computer?

Problem: BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) occurs constantly.
I think the problem is the phone drivers (via cable). The program itself shouldn't be it.I made a system recovery, which worked. And my computer was restored. But when I tried once again the same problem occurred.
How can I use the phone with the computer without getting the BSOD?
I used the Ovi suite to install the free maps on my E72 which work great but the software itself is very poorly written, too many bugs and problems so i would like to uninstall it and use the PC suite instead. can I now update my phone using the PC suite with it's updater software or do I have to now rely on the Ovi suite.
The reason I ask instead of having two pieces of software is i want to a Vista/XP (two machines) clean install followed by a Ghost DVD so the smaller image the better (plus i dont like to have **bleep** installed on my machine:-)
Ever since I upgraded the phone's firmware to the latest (v 20.0.080) the mobile dictionary has a weird glitch. I've attached a picture to show.
If i try to find a word from english to vietnamese, the vietnamese equivalent word will have missing letters. For example: i search "hello" and the vietnamese shows: "xin chao: bi ___ u _ l ___ s ng ___ c nhien" (the underscores "_" are the missing letters.Anyone know how to fix this? I've tried reinstalling the application, and the language pack.
I've tried a english to english search, and words don't show up missing letters. this seems to just happen to vietnamese letters.I do a simple search of a vietnamese to vietnamese. even the results show words with missing letters.
I have lost some pre-installed Nokia Apps (Photo & Video Editor,Nokia Check in,Traveler,Ovi Music etc) after hard reset .I have tried to reinstall firmware via Nokia Suite, but still cant find these apps.Plz Provide me these apps.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI live in the UK and just found out this update is now available, shall i update? any problems with it? shall i back up?
View 13 Replies View RelatedSo the update is available for the UK phones and I updated my 5530 to the v.20 firmware. Unlike what most users say that the phone is faster, I dont really find that to be the case. When I startup, it takes awhile longer. Sometimes the wallpaper appears and then disappears and then reappears again with the contacts bar and everything. The problem really seems to be the home screen. Every time I go back to the home screen or click on menu, theres a black line in the center, a flash n nothing happens or a flash n it works. Sometimes, the flash is not there and the menu just opens up. I dont really know how to explain that, but I hope uve got an idea of what i'm saying. I'm wondering if I should soft reset.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm base in Sydney Australia and have just received a msg from Nokia that I can update my firmware for my N900.(firmware version 10.2010.19.)The problem is that I receive a message that I could not update because of: poor-quality ,slow or intermittent internet connection. This could also be because of problems with our servers. Is it that NSU does not support N900 and if so why would Nokia sell a phone and not provide software to update the phone with.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on install option from OVI Suite to update to the latest version, It keeps saying there's no network connection even though my net connection works fine. i tried installing the new version of Ovi Suite by downloading from Nokia Site, even that hangs after a while of installtion progress. Is there a easy way to upgrade or update new Ovi Suite ? Also if I cancel any installation mid way, I am not able to start it again unless I clear all installation files after restarting.this is frustrating to see a simple software upgrade is so cubersome.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI wanted to intsall Mail For Exchange, and the Nokia E72 NAM doesnt seem to have it when I bought it (unless you can direct me to it). I decided to follow the instructions to install it, but it requires me to update the ovi store. I dont know if this will update the firmware as well, but i heard that the newest firmware (v031.032 i believe) is very buggy, so i want to avoid this until another firmware comes out.Can someone help? if its already on the phone, i just need to know where it is. If its not on the phone, will updating the ovistore affect anything in terms of new firmware or other sorts? The reason i want to install this is to utilize the google calendar so i dont have to keep plugging the e72 into the computer (and possibly damaging the plastic usb cover).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI work with a Nokia C5-00 operator locked (Movistar Spain) one month ago. When I connect it thru Ovi Suite (in a Windows 7 box), a firmware update was available, and yesterday I tried to do the upgrade.
Ovi Suite detected my phone, and a few moments later, backup its contents, and started to download the new firmware. Troubles came when Ovi Suite began to do the update, as it failed with a "Network Connect Error" when started to do the process.
Screen of my phone went completely white, and after disconnecting the USB cable, the phone simply died, except when I press the red button (it makes a vibration, but screen doesn't turn on). If I reconnect the phone to the computer, Windows try to install a "Nokia USB ROM" device, but unsuccessfully.
Can I make a sort of "reset" to revive my phone?
Yesterday I wanted to update my Nokia E63, I saw there was 2 ways of Updating, 1. Over The Air, but there was no clear definition on how to do that, So I want to the other option, Nokia Ovi PC Suite. The download kept failing but it kept resuming when I tried to download the update again. After the download finished Usually you do not need the internet to install something that you already downloaded (Should Always Be Like That!!) So I thought that and while the update was installing Nokia Ovi PC Suite said something about Cannot Connect To Service, Although My Internet was PERFECT! and I tried to turn on my E63 and it would just vibrate and then turn off. I tried reviving it by leaving the battery out for 5 mins ( I also left it out for 6 hours) And when you turn it on Hold the Green Button Call And the 3 and the *. But none of that works, I wanted to send my phone to Nokia Care through Post But you need the IMEI but How can I do that?
