Nokia Nseries :: N8 - Black Screen When Receiving / Calling?
Mar 9, 2011
I just received my N8 from repair and they changed the main chip for it with the newest software. Now it gives me black screen when calling / receiving calls. It also does this when clock has alert on.I can turn the screen on with the "unlocking slide" but this in general is extremely annoying and pointless. I was thinking to take it back to repair shop, but wanted to ask about this first here.
Suppose, I have, under 1 name, multiple contacts (each with different Label Pic, ie, phone, telephone pic etc.). On calling or receiving calls, same Pic (ie of Mobile) is displayed against all those numbers.
I have a 16GB Nokia n96, and it was working completely fine till a couple weeks back the screen went blank, so i assumed it had switched itself off. I took the battery out and tried switching it back on, but the screen didn't come on. The phone vibrated once like normal on start-up, then the keypad lit up and the buttons on the slide-up bit, but nothing can be seen on the screen. I can also hear the beeps when i press different buttons, and also I could remember off by heart where my music player was on it, so i pressed the right buttons and my music actually started playing!
Just purchased a Nokia 700 for my wife and she is very pleased with the device. When trying to add a startscreen the screen gets black and I choose the option of deleting it. Is this an error or what? I myself is using a N8 and just waiting for the Bell-update when I see how pretty my wife's phone works with Belle installed.
After dialing a number the screen goes off immediately. I have press the unlock button several times to get it on. Even when i haven't put it up to ear. The light sensor is working.
I there. I bought my n8 yesterday, I used it fine until a couple hours ago now, when it went black screen and nothing happens! Turn it off and then on but the screen does not light up, it shows only the screen protector with the hour and the date, but nothing else happens. What should I do?
When in a pitch black dark room i can see this in my screen. its annoying because i can really notice it. it cannot produce true black, in which i believe is what amoled is all about, producing true black. but my screen is not producing true black.
when i install raging thunder game on my nokia 500 my phone screen turned black off now that game is working in other phones very well like e5 c6-01 c5
I left my N8 while it was updating , when i came back the screen says Nokia PC suite has stopped working but after i closed the program and opened it again the update page says "Update Complete" after that i noticed that the PC suit/Computer is no longer detecting my Phone and the Screen is already black. I tried to turn it off and On (only felt the vibration), Already tried the 8-10 seconds hold on Power button (and felt the 3 vibraions), still not working. Also tried the 3 finger thing to no avail. I felt regret for updating my N8. I shouldnt have click that update button on the Pc suit.
my nokia n8 was in the middle of updating through my laptop, then the whole think froze the laptop rebooted itself and now the phone is dead a black screen and not responding.
When I first got my N8-00 I had no problems at all, until 6 months later I dropped it from a height of 2ft. Then I got all the problems, automatically turning off and restarting 100 times a day etc, etc. I took it to my phone supplier who replaced it with a new one, that had the new Anna software installed. Since then whenever I get or make calls the screen goes totally blank.
It is really annoying as I cannot see who is calling or if the call has gone through. I have to manually unlock the phone to attend the call. Also having problems answering the calls as sometimes I have to press the answer button 3-4 times. Finally now 3 months after having this phone it has started turning off and restarting automatically, but only about once a week, so far. I have all the latest Anna updates but these problems still persist.
I have got problem with my N900, Using the phone I can not hear anything but the person I am talking can hear my voice. I ve tried to reset the phone setting and reinstall firmware but didn't help, Please let me know if anybody knows any tricks.
My 6303 has recently developed the problem that sometimes when calling or receiving a call, I cannot hear the caller although they can hear me. I also have the problem that when I connect my phone to a PC via USB cable, the PC crashes (serious error) which I will post separately.
So i don't know what i did but all i know was that I picked it up off the floor after it fell out of my pocket when sitting down on the ground. And then i tried to click every button possible (home and lock) but it wasn't responding. So my friend decided to call it and I received the call but the screen stays black.
My N8 does display calling name from contacts, rather displays only the number. I have tried rebooting the phone after re-inserting SIM (multiple times), but no result. Any fix for this??This irritates in a big way, as you can't recognise as who is calling.
If I call a number where they have a menu where you have to choose from. I can't manage to get my keyboard to make a choice. Does any one know how to do this?
I have seen a strange issue with N8. At times, I have seen that when I receive a call from the person who is already added in my contact list, the phone is just displaying the number and not the name of the person. When I check the Log, it also displays the number and not the name of the person.
I have imported my contact list from my previous handset (Nokia N70) where it worked absolutely fine. It is quite inconvenient to identify the caller without the name and decide whether to accept or reject during work hours and have at times missed some important calls due to that.
i am unable to make calls. When I try to make phone call it doesn't even try to make the call. I choose a name from the address book to call and nothing happens. After restaring the phone it works fine. An even more annoying problem is that when this has happened my phone doesn't receive calls either. I've heard that people have tried to call me and it has rang normally but my phone doesn't show that someone has called me. Otherwise the phone works fine so I newer know that it is in this "problem state" until I try to make a call.Software version is 025.007.240.02
I found that I can't use the numeric keypad while calling with my N8. Is it possible to show the numerica keypad as possible as other Symbian devices are?
Because of that issue, I can't listen to my voicemails because you need to send dialing signals to use your voicemail box.
this time my headphones are not working when i am attending any calls ..otherwise they r fyn !!while listning to music and radio they are working fine ... but when i attend some calls they don"t work ..
I am helping out a friend who has a Nokia 6280. She claimed that it's infected by a virus because her problems started after using a Bluetooth headset. I don't quite believe this as I've heard it's more likely to be struck by lightning than to have this phone infected with a virus. Anyhow, the problem is the following: When you power on the phone, you get the Nokia handshake, then the phone loads. However, as soon as the phone loads, a bunch of black lines appear to streak across the screen rendering it black. That's not a huge issue because it goes away after a few seconds. Now I've read this could be an issue related to the ribbon that connects to the screen, but the screen turning black does not occur in any other instance other than right after when the main screen appears. I can play with the slider all day and nothing will happen, but like clockwork the problem appears after the phone loads. What gives? The phone works fine otherwise, so what could the problem be? If you need any more information I will be happy to provide. I've uploaded a video of this issue here (using my 5800 XpressMusic at night - the quality isn't that great sorry, but it does show the problem). Pardon the audio - my kids were watching Spongebob Squarepants so you might want to turn the audio all the way down! I guess my question is two-fold:
1) can this in fact be the result of a virus? 2) if this isn't due to a virus, what is it due to?
My N8 has suddenly decided to stop receiving SMS messages... Until you turn the handset off, then back on (Note not an 8 seconds, buzz 3 times reset) at which time they flood through..The strange thing is unlike when your phone has been turned off and then on and all of the messages come in time stamped as being "xx:xx" for when you turned it on these have times as if they have come in but not actually shown as being received.
I have not had any replies to a lot of SMS messages for a few days. Then I turned the phone off and back on and a load of messages were delivered within a few minutes
