I there. I bought my n8 yesterday, I used it fine until a couple hours ago now, when it went black screen and nothing happens! Turn it off and then on but the screen does not light up, it shows only the screen protector with the hour and the date, but nothing else happens. What should I do?
View 14 RepliesI have a 16GB Nokia n96, and it was working completely fine till a couple weeks back the screen went blank, so i assumed it had switched itself off. I took the battery out and tried switching it back on, but the screen didn't come on. The phone vibrated once like normal on start-up, then the keypad lit up and the buttons on the slide-up bit, but nothing can be seen on the screen. I can also hear the beeps when i press different buttons, and also I could remember off by heart where my music player was on it, so i pressed the right buttons and my music actually started playing!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI left my N8 while it was updating , when i came back the screen says Nokia PC suite has stopped working but after i closed the program and opened it again the update page says "Update Complete" after that i noticed that the PC suit/Computer is no longer detecting my Phone and the Screen is already black. I tried to turn it off and On (only felt the vibration), Already tried the 8-10 seconds hold on Power button (and felt the 3 vibraions), still not working. Also tried the 3 finger thing to no avail. I felt regret for updating my N8. I shouldnt have click that update button on the Pc suit.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just received my N8 from repair and they changed the main chip for it with the newest software. Now it gives me black screen when calling / receiving calls. It also does this when clock has alert on.I can turn the screen on with the "unlocking slide" but this in general is extremely annoying and pointless. I was thinking to take it back to repair shop, but wanted to ask about this first here.

When I first got my N8-00 I had no problems at all, until 6 months later I dropped it from a height of 2ft. Then I got all the problems, automatically turning off and restarting 100 times a day etc, etc. I took it to my phone supplier who replaced it with a new one, that had the new Anna software installed. Since then whenever I get or make calls the screen goes totally blank.
It is really annoying as I cannot see who is calling or if the call has gone through. I have to manually unlock the phone to attend the call. Also having problems answering the calls as sometimes I have to press the answer button 3-4 times. Finally now 3 months after having this phone it has started turning off and restarting automatically, but only about once a week, so far. I have all the latest Anna updates but these problems still persist.
i have xperia neo gingerbread 2.3.4 kernel .62 i noticed a dark dead line on the top of screen which appears with dark colors for images . videos , games , applications ,,,, any thing falls in this site "i mean blue , red , grey , green ,.....",,, the depth of the darkness is proportional to the depth of the viewed color "i.e it ranges from faint grey to deep black ", i guess it's an issue of LEDs or something that couldnot emit those dark colors evidenced by not appearing with white or black i uploaded a screen shot with arrows pointing to the line i mean
View 3 Replies View Relatedafter an update with Nokia suite yesterday night my N8 wont start anymore. after initiating the update (25.xxx) it was downloading and starting the update. after a while it end with an errormessage. I do exactly remember but it was something like critical connection error. remove cable and restart the telefon for restoring your N8. After this the update will continue. But nothing like this happens. The n8 wont start. It vibrates on time and the display stays black. When i connect with USB cable, the windows USB connection sound appears and after about 5 seconds the disconnection sound appears. thats all. The charging LED is flashing for a while and after about 1 minute this also stops. Pressing the on/off button for abput 10 sec its vibrating 3 times and thats it. I bought this N8 in Libya. It had an aribic language set. I dont do any flashing or other experiments. But some days before i installed some Qt installation files manualy from the Qt symbian 3 development kit on the phone. I have done this for testing some small test applications which i produced with this kit. Maybe these causes the corruption of the phone. But the main question is how to wake up the phone? In the country where i am now is no Nokia service center available. But when i connect with USB cable two device driver are activated with name Nokia parent/generic flashing device
View 3 Replies View RelatedInsted of writing any hate speach i will just request Nokia to spend good time in testing products before releasing in market...silly thing are giving more bad publicity than doing any good for Nokia.Now, can anyone tell me how do i solve this SMS problem... under all profiles, General, Outdoor etc.. the phone does not give any alert (sound or vibrate).I read other blogs, deleted all the SMS, inbox, outbox (also faced problem deleting MMS...deferred)...Even after deleting all messages by select all and delete..the conversation still shows them all...and there is no way to delete them...Bottom line... what needs to be done to get SMS notification..sound/vibrate back in place on N8?

I went ahead with the installation; it informed me that it needed to restart and then I got a white screen with a dialog box saying something along the lines of "don't try to make calls during installation". Okay, sure.
I went to the bathroom and when I got back, black screen. The 3 physical buttons at the bottom were all lit up. I left it alone for about 10 minutes, still the same. I then tried to press & hold the power button, but nothing happened. Decided to leave it overnight.
This morning, the 3 buttons were no longer lit up. Removed & re-inserted battery, nothing. Tried various 3 and 4 finger salutes found online, nothing. Tried to connect to to PC, menu button starts flashing (presumably that's an indication it's charging?). Nokia Suite doesn't recognise the device, but it will ocassionally tell me I connected a Nokia device via a non-compatible USB mode, and it will also give me 'device disconnected' messages. Hmm.
Note that my battery was close to full before I started the update.
Okay, so it's not 100% dead at least, but I'm guessing I'm gonna have to RMA it. Wanted to check here first though.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI am helping out a friend who has a Nokia 6280. She claimed that it's infected by a virus because her problems started after using a Bluetooth headset. I don't quite believe this as I've heard it's more likely to be struck by lightning than to have this phone infected with a virus. Anyhow, the problem is the following: When you power on the phone, you get the Nokia handshake, then the phone loads. However, as soon as the phone loads, a bunch of black lines appear to streak across the screen rendering it black. That's not a huge issue because it goes away after a few seconds. Now I've read this could be an issue related to the ribbon that connects to the screen, but the screen turning black does not occur in any other instance other than right after when the main screen appears. I can play with the slider all day and nothing will happen, but like clockwork the problem appears after the phone loads.What gives? The phone works fine otherwise, so what could the problem be? If you need any more information I will be happy to provide. I've uploaded a video of this issue here (using my 5800 XpressMusic at night - the quality isn't that great sorry, but it does show the problem). Pardon the audio - my kids were watching Spongebob Squarepants so you might want to turn the audio all the way down! I guess my question is two-fold:
1) can this in fact be the result of a virus?
2) if this isn't due to a virus, what is it due to?
I have noticed an annoying feature with my Nokia N8: The display goes black when in a call (holding the phone to my ear). When the call is finished I have a difficulty to close the call. Is this a Nokia special feature for saving battery that can be turned off or is it an error?

I can not get it to silde to unlock or what so ever. I've tried take out the battery to turn it off and switch it back on. I've also tired to connect it with my computer with the sony software to repair it. But none of those work. The touch screen seems to respond once after i touch it thirty or forthy times. But still i have no way to silde to unlock the phone. Is that means my phone is brick or just the touch screen is broken

I was really looking forward to getting this phone and I am now quite disappointed (and disgusted by the service I was offered here in Malta!). I returned it to the shop where I bought it and was told that I have to have at least 5 dead pixels for me to be able to change it. Is this true?
It is still under guarantee as it hasn't even been a month since the date of purchase. They tried to feed me so much bull (including: the laws do not apply for Malta and that i had to go back within the first seven days EVEN THOUGH it clearly says on the guarantee that I have a 30-day period from the date of purchase to take it back).

It was charged, but i tried to charge it again, hoping that would wake it--no luck. So, tried soft reset, hard reset, removing the SIM then soft and hard resets, but no luck. Now all I get is a blue screen after the initial AT&T logo. Very sad, I want to like ths phone, but it is hard to use when it is bricked (or I am waiting for a new one). I guess I am off to the AT&T store for a new one...
