My N8's display always turns totally black when there is an incoming call, or even when thealarm rings. Before can see the caller's name and answer the call, I have to disable the screen's "keylock".I tried to find a point in the phone settings wher I can avoid this, but didn't find any.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first got my N8-00 I had no problems at all, until 6 months later I dropped it from a height of 2ft. Then I got all the problems, automatically turning off and restarting 100 times a day etc, etc. I took it to my phone supplier who replaced it with a new one, that had the new Anna software installed. Since then whenever I get or make calls the screen goes totally blank.
It is really annoying as I cannot see who is calling or if the call has gone through. I have to manually unlock the phone to attend the call. Also having problems answering the calls as sometimes I have to press the answer button 3-4 times. Finally now 3 months after having this phone it has started turning off and restarting automatically, but only about once a week, so far. I have all the latest Anna updates but these problems still persist.
if i get a call and i use the keylock on the side of the phone I get a black screen and no functions i have to remove the battery to restart the phone v21.0.045 soft instaled I have noticed that this hapens during calls occasionaly too.

If there is a field with a company name in it, suppose this would be a must to have an option to choose how to display contact when incoming call, i.e. just name or name with a company name.

My wife rang me yesterday. The answer screen lit up, but there was no ringing sound. I noticed that the icon for 'sound off' was showing at the top. I answered, we spoke and she rang off. The icon changed to 'sound on'!
I have tested this. I watch my phone and ring myself using other phones. As soon as the screen lights up with an incoming call the 'sound-off' icon appears and the phone does not ring. I can still accept the call and have a conversation. When I hang up, the icon returns to 'sound-on'.
I've cracked it. I have an app called Extreme Call Blocker which has just had an update. It appears that this was causing the problem. I turned off the app and Z2 rang perfectly.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone used to keep a charge for THREE days...it was wonderful! Now since the update, I have to charge it every day even if it's just standby. Plus, if I'm on a call with the screen turned off, when an incoming call comes in, I am unable to turn the screen back on in order to answer. Plus, sometimes the phone is so sensitive that when the face is pressed up against it, it goes haywire and cancels out a call. The sensitivity is way too high. I am using Straight Talk as my provider so is there a way, I can remove all the AT&T stuff? And which ones do I not need? I don't like a lot of bloatware on my phone.

i unlocked my screen and opened up the sms app. The screen went totally black and Android running in the back ground. The phone vibrates when i touch the screen but no respons from the screen. I booted it with vol+power button, did not work. I ran the sony connect application on my pc and got the phone reset and upgraded my software.

pressing the power button for 7+ seconds, as per Samsung, did not work at all. totally black screen, no response. pressing the volume DOWN button, power button, and the home button, also to no avail. on the other hand, while on the phone to TMobile's customer service to report this non-functional brand new phone,
i was continuing to press the abovementioned buttons frantically. well, while i was talking to TMobile via my landline, the phone eventually booted up. this was VERY haphazard. The only thing i recall reading about this was to press the power button for 7 seconds, which Samsung had said was the equivalent of pulling out the battery.
right. that's bogus. that did nothing for me. yet, by pressing the volume up or down button PLUS the power button PLUS the home button,
i don't know exactly which combination eventually worked, as i was trying various permutations, eventually, the phone booted up. this does not give me confidence in this phone.
What eventually i did to make this phone boot up eventually. all i did was to be on the phone with TMobile and press the power button plus the volume up or down button, plus the home button, and eventually, it rebooted and came back to life.
I frequently have black screen when i receive a phone call when i am outdoors !? When i am indoors, this does not happen.Anybody else have the same problem ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've seen quite a lot of ~year old posts about the Nokia N8 turning itself off. But is it just my phone that still does this? I just bought mine, and I have the latest updates to Anna installed. If i leave the phone idle for a few hours, it turns itself off. It has done so several times now. I tried having a NightClock app running while I slept, which kept it busy. That kept the phone on. When I exited the app and left it to itself, the automatic screensaver appears, and after a few hours, the phone turns itself off again. Sometimes the clock alarms I set doesn't even ring, after it has turned itself off. I tried a hard reset (i think that's the right term), which erased all my data, and after this the "welcome screen" that appeared the very first time I turned it on, appeared again. I installed the latest updates once more. Still it turns itself off.

However, i didn't back up files as phone was new so didn't have anything on it and didn't think was necessary but now non of the phone works.
