Nokia Nseries :: 700 Not Receiving SMS Until Power Cycled?
Jan 28, 2012
I have not had any replies to a lot of SMS messages for a few days. Then I turned the phone off and back on and a load of messages were delivered within a few minutes
My N8 has suddenly decided to stop receiving SMS messages... Until you turn the handset off, then back on (Note not an 8 seconds, buzz 3 times reset) at which time they flood through..The strange thing is unlike when your phone has been turned off and then on and all of the messages come in time stamped as being "xx:xx" for when you turned it on these have times as if they have come in but not actually shown as being received.
my power key is not working not matter how hard or for long i press it nothing will happen.and I know the problem is related to the key because my phone is still powered on.
I've been experiencing poor battery life on my Nokia 5800 XM recently. Sometimes on a full charge I could only get a day to a day and a half of standby time with minimal usage (2-3 texts, no calls and 5 photographs). I put this down to an old battery and ordered a new one.In the meantime we went to my parents-in-law and the battery lasted 5 days on a full charge including a reasonable amount of web browsing via WLAN.Got back home and the battery died a couple of days later despite being fully charged.
Put in a brand new battery, charged it up and used the phone - 2.5 days later it was dead (minimal texts and a couple of photos). Charged it again - 2 days standby before dead.Downloaded the power profile app - everything seemed to be fine. The phone idled nicely on standby with minimal power drain. Then I used the bluetooth and everything became clear. After connecting to OVI for a minute or two, downloading my photos then closing OVI and disabling the bluetooth on the phone, I noticed my power consumption didn't go back down. I was getting regular peaks of around 150ma and the battery life was considerably reduced.
If I left the bluetooth disabled and power cycled the phone, it would settle down to minimal usage. The moment bluetooth was enabled, the problem reocurred.I then backed the phone up, totally wiped the sd card and reinstalled from scratch.Exactly the same problem - fine until BT enabled then even when disabled, the phone started drawing excess current on idle.
Usually work time of my Nokia between charging was 4-5 days. For two days I am really happy if it can keep power 1 day. Is there any known bug in software (I did update of Ovi Store and Opera mini) causing high power consumption or is it common that the battery die after 7-8 moths.
Since updating to Belle on my N8 the battery power has significantly gone down. I use my phone the same way every day. I have turned off the clock screen saver too and still goes down quickly. Before it would last 4 or 5 days, with light use of the camera and internet, now it won't last past 3.
Each time I turn on my N8, I get a popup "System error" and an "OK" button; nothing else.Is there some sort of log, where I could find out what sort of System error I'm dealing with?Incidentally, if I get nothing else out of this discussion, could you change that "OK" button to "Bummer", please. It most definitely is not "OK"... and at least I could get a smile out of a "Bummer" button.
problem with the weather widget and Nokia Belle Refresh on N8.It drains the battery in a matter of a few hours Tried with a new battery - made no difference. When App Stop is used to kill the weater widget the problem goes away - TEMPORARY that is, because the &%¤#/& program starts automatically after some time and drains the battery completely!
Batterytime is beyond miserable now Removing the weather widget from the start screen did NOT solve the problem. 100 % certain it's the weather widget's fault. Nokia either needs to provide an update solution quickly or provide a way to completely remove the widget and NOT have it installed again upon connection to Nokia Suite
1) My Screen Saver stopped working... screen stays lit indefinitely, even when locked... after multiple restarts and lots of frustration it came back, but this issue has already happened twice - surely a bug
2) Power-Saving mode doesn't really make sense unless it is customisable... I am on a 3G only network, power-saving enables GSM-only... see the flaw?
may i know Nokia 5800 XpressMusic can be charge by power bank or not?. I know that this model not allow to charge by USB, but can it be charge through power port with 500mA power bank?
I remember that it was possible to change the wifi TX power level from default 100mW to e.g. 4mW on Nokia N95 to save battery life --> Menu> Tools> Setting> Connection> Wireless LAN> Options> Advanced Settings" and then "Automatic config> Disabled> TX power level> Options> Change".
Now, on a Nokia 701, I was searching for that option but couldn't find it.
I just received my N8 from repair and they changed the main chip for it with the newest software. Now it gives me black screen when calling / receiving calls. It also does this when clock has alert on.I can turn the screen on with the "unlocking slide" but this in general is extremely annoying and pointless. I was thinking to take it back to repair shop, but wanted to ask about this first here.
i am using N8 111.040.0904 symbian belle, while receiving a call ,almost all calls my phone displaying the number like (+91**********),the same format i have saved in address book with country code.Contacts are unique ,no duplicates,i have deleted the duplicate contacts.
I like NOKIA but this problem irritates me whenever i am receiving a call.
Suppose, I have, under 1 name, multiple contacts (each with different Label Pic, ie, phone, telephone pic etc.). On calling or receiving calls, same Pic (ie of Mobile) is displayed against all those numbers.
When making or receiving a call I cannot be heard although I can hear the other person. Is this a problem that is fixable or a sign that it's time for a new phone?
After I upgraded to Nokia Belle on my N8, my phone will stop receiving calls, messages, emails and can't even browse the internet. It behaves like I'm not connected my mobile network. I will have to switch the phone off and switch it back on to be able to receive calls again. Every other installed applications work so far they don't need to access the network. The strange thing is that, you won't notice anything. If you are someone that receives calls a lot, you'll just notice that you haven't received any calls or SMS or emails. This happens everyday, sometimes 3 times a day.
So I am having a very strange problem. I have been using the Situations App (formerly Nokia Situations) to automatically put my phone into offline mode, and power saving mode over night. 9pm to 6:30am.Recently the phone as started refusing to leave the offline mode in the morning. Even if I try to change the profile manually it says "Unable to change profile". The only way I can get out of offline mode is to reboot.I uninstalled Situations, and manually put the phone into offline mode and power saving mode. By the morning I had the same issue, stuck in offline mode until reboot. So it's not the App causing the problem. I've tried a soft reset, same problem still.
I also noticed that over-night (from fully charged before 9pm) to 6:30am I used about 70% of my charge. (A combination of power saving mode and offline mode is killing my battery!)I would have to go to work and immediately put my phone on charge! I.e.. 12 hours of offline + power save has drained my battery almost completely.Last night I decided to use the Situations App to put the phone into offline mode, BUT NOT activate power save mode. This morning the phone had virtually full charge and it had no problem returning to online mode.So it's ONLY if I use BOTH power-save and offline. (Tonight I will try using power-saving mode and NOT offline mode to see if it's only the power-saving mode causing the issue!)If I manually enter offline+power-save mode, and then try to return to on-line/non-power-save mode, relatively quickly, i.e.. Not over-night, everything is fine. It's only over night the problems start!
I've searched and am struggling to find much on these. What do they do, and how are they different?
According to HTC: Note: IfData connection is selected, HTC One automatically disconnects from the mobile network after 15 minutes when the screen is off and the data connection is idle (no download activity, streaming, or data usage). It reconnects and then disconnects periodically when the data connection is idle to save battery power.
Do these affect mobile data, Wifi, or both? Do they affect anything else?
I've left these off because I don't know how they work, and am getting fairly short battery life (10 to 15 hours, depending on use).
I just got my nexus 6p i noticed when i press power button I only see switch off option nothing else (restart or aeroplane mode etc) I scanned through everything and could not find anything,Attaching screen shot.
just got Nokia DC-16 portable charger and noticed that it only gives around 1000 mAh despite the fact that it has 2200 mAh battery inside.Charged it in full and then connected it to my phone with 1800 mAh battery. When Nokia DC-16 was discharged my phone was charged only 50%. Tried that two times with exactly the same results. So i wonder is my unit faulty or this is the performance i should expect?Found this in All About Symbian review:The DC-16's capacity is rated at 2200mAh, which is equivalent to less than two full charges of most smartphone batteries; it is also guaranteed for 500 charge cycles. Nokia say the output current is 950mA, which is quite high for a battery of this class. Anecdotally, it can quickly recharge our Lumia 800 to full (from empty).
I have a problem with the ovi suite.I go from and to my PC a lot during the day.My E50 is connected with BT. Every time I am with in range it starts sync. And it simply sucks a full charged phone dry in 7 hours. How do I stop this sync every time?
I purchased a Lumia 920 on Friday 11/9/2012 from at&t and on Monday 11/12/2012 it died and will not power-up. I returned to the at&t store but they don't have any replacements in stock. They tried to find one in any of their stores in the Bay Area (San Francisco). My question is: when should we expect to have new shipments of the Lumia 920.
