I'd really like to recover some of the data on there that wasn't backed up online and was wondering if I was to remove the main board and transplant it into another Nexus 5 whether this would boot as normal and allow me to access the storage? The board I'm referring to is this one: [URL] ..... (Step 10).
Haven't got much experience changing parts like this around, though I do know the phone is relatively easy to take dismantle. I'm really just hoping to be able to get it live for long enough to save my data to move over to a new phone.
Is there a button to switch off Blackberry 9700 instead of going to Main Menu, then select "Switch off" icon?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've mentioned this on another thread, but I thought I'd start a new one to see if anyone can help me with this specific problem. Briefly, the familiar tale. Phone well cared for and never dropped, keyguard slide broke off after six months, Carphone Warehouse said it was a 'cosmetic' fault and therefore not covered under the warranty and wanted £85 to repair it. nUnlock application downloaded, which resolves most issues other than answering calls. Many of us have been there. The big niggle that remains (other than the prospect of having to give in and fork out for a repair I shouldn't have to pay for) is answering calls. This is the current scenario: Phone rings. I can't answer it in the normal way due to the keyguard switch no longer being there. So I have to flip it open, at which point the screen goes blank for a couple of seconds before it comes back on in the 'sideways' configuration. In most cases, by the time the screen has come back on and I've hit the Answer key, it's gone to voicemail. It's fiddly and annoying. So. Have I missed something in the nUnlock app that disables the keyguard switch function altogether so I can answer calls properly? Is there something in the Phone Settings that I've missed that does the same thing? Or am I just going to have to go to a Nokia shop and be prepared to argue and/or fork out some cash?

I did a software update via Nokia Suite as it said it had some new themes. While this was installing my N8 ran out of memory and the installation failed. When I checked my N8 the homescreen widgets and shortcuts had disappeared.
I have tried to re- add them but they do not appear on any of the homescreens.
when I started to organize my N8's menu I clicked on the Settings icon and moved it and it disappeared from the menu I looked in the Application folder but it wasn't there. And now I don't know how to return it (BTW tried to restore factory settings stayed the same the icon is gone)
View 3 Replies View RelatedThree days ago the side lock key on my eight-month-old 701 broke in the course of normal use - I didn't drop it or anything like that - I was just trying to lock the screen in the normal way. There is plainly a mechanical fault as the slide doesn't spring back when you move it.
I took it into Nokia Care here in Taipei and, to my surprise, they told me a) that it can only be fixed by replacing the phone's motherboard and b) that I would have to call Nokia to see whether they were willing to cover it under the guarantee. (It seems that the few remaining Nokia care centres in Taiwan are contracted out and given little or no discretion.) Interestingly they showed me another 701 motherboard with the slide broken in the same way.
Yesterday, Nokia Taiwan called back saying that the limited guarantee specifically excludes damage to the exterior of the phone and that if I wanted it repaired I would have to pay for it.
I have now checked the terms of the guarantee (available in Chinese on Nokia Taiwan's web site) and this simply isn't true. There are exclusions for improper use or modification, acts of god, normal wear and tear, replacement of consumables (fuses are specifically mentioned) and damage to or breakage of aerials, but nothing about damage to switches or anything else of on the exterior of the phone.
Regardless of the details of the guarantee exclusions, I am appalled at Nokia Taiwan's attitude, and would be very grateful if other users could tell me if they have had similar problems with side locks, or with repairs that should be covered under guarantee.
Am working in China where I bought a N97 last year. When pulling the phone out of the wallet (supplied by Nokia) last week the slide lock split and fell off. When my secretary took it to the Care Centre to get it fixed (her Chinese is better than mine) they charged RMB200 (about 20 pounds) to repair it. Is this normal? They said that even though the lock was probably faulty I could not prove it.
When I called Nokia Care all they could say was 'this is our policy in China'. I like the phone but cannot stand the Nokia customer service these days.
Yesterday when i was doing text chat suddenly my side keypad lock stopped responding, am not able to lock or unlock using that key. If i push it down its staying down only and if i push it up its staying up not able to even turn on the flash light on with long downward push.

The Music Widget does not jump correctly to the currently playing track when clicked on. It instead goes to the music library list and on top of that does not go the currently active album, but goes to the beginning of the list. Once in that state if you go back to the home screen and use the music shortcut instead, that too will mimic the widget behavior. The only way to correctly jump to the current track is to have the music player in currently playing view then go to the homescreen and use the music shortcut only. Then It behaves correctly. This is an annoying bug when one is listening to music all day at work every day.

whenever i start some of my phone applications, like web, make a call, receive a call, start maps, my phone automatically switches off even if the battery is full. And when i restart my phone, it switches off again after displaying the nokia logo or just after the main screen is displayed. The same process continues repeatedly. Is my N8's battery not working correctly?

The on-off switch/ lock button of iPhone 4s has become inactive over the past week. Whenever I press down on it, there is no satisfying click, it is simply idol. It wobbles loosely but however hard I do click on it it will not move! I only got it for Christmas 2011 so its not even old, and within the 6 months of my possesion it has not once been dropped or misused!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been experiencing poor battery life on my Nokia 5800 XM recently. Sometimes on a full charge I could only get a day to a day and a half of standby time with minimal usage (2-3 texts, no calls and 5 photographs). I put this down to an old battery and ordered a new one.In the meantime we went to my parents-in-law and the battery lasted 5 days on a full charge including a reasonable amount of web browsing via WLAN.Got back home and the battery died a couple of days later despite being fully charged.
Put in a brand new battery, charged it up and used the phone - 2.5 days later it was dead (minimal texts and a couple of photos). Charged it again - 2 days standby before dead.Downloaded the power profile app - everything seemed to be fine. The phone idled nicely on standby with minimal power drain. Then I used the bluetooth and everything became clear. After connecting to OVI for a minute or two, downloading my photos then closing OVI and disabling the bluetooth on the phone, I noticed my power consumption didn't go back down. I was getting regular peaks of around 150ma and the battery life was considerably reduced.
If I left the bluetooth disabled and power cycled the phone, it would settle down to minimal usage. The moment bluetooth was enabled, the problem reocurred.I then backed the phone up, totally wiped the sd card and reinstalled from scratch.Exactly the same problem - fine until BT enabled then even when disabled, the phone started drawing excess current on idle.
