Each time I turn on my N8, I get a popup "System error" and an "OK" button; nothing else.Is there some sort of log, where I could find out what sort of System error I'm dealing with?Incidentally, if I get nothing else out of this discussion, could you change that "OK" button to "Bummer", please.It most definitely is not "OK"... and at least I could get a smile out of a "Bummer" button.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my N8 to Anna. Could not do the 1/2, everything else worked fine. Finally got the 1/2 to work, ever since had nothing but problems. Whenever I start the phone I get 3 or 4 system error messages. After hitting ok, I can access most of my phone. I cannot access my contacts from the home screen. I can only go into the call screen, which does not allow me to add a new contact or edit. I have tried both the hard and soft reboots and tried to re-install but it has only gotten worse. I kinda need to access my contacts for work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince the Belle upgrade for some reason and very randomly I start receiving a "system error" at startup. Phone freezes and have to be restarted. It happens 1:100 but it happens.
Moreover, at startup a pop up appears with the new sms messages, but it starts looping and the only way to turn it off is to press the menu button and change view.
I've set up Mail for Exchange with my Gmail account and, while it does seem to get emails, it also keeps poping up the box asking me to enter the password, which I have obviously entered before and it is remembered. Half the time I unlock the phone, the popup is there.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI love my Nokia E52, but one of the main reasons I bought it (the combination of WiFi Wireless Lan support and fully integrated Voice over IP client) is not usable due to very laggy, unsteady WLAN connection (while having perfect signal strength - E52 shows 100% (same room)).Because of this I get choppy VoIP (cracks and interruptions up to several words in my VoIP conversations).

This is not a problem of the VoIP Client, audio-codec, or SIP provider/internet connection.It is the Wireless Lan connection between my E52 and my Router. I tried 3 different access points, with and without wireless encryption, 802.11b (1M...11M data-rate) and 802.11g - problem always the same.

Note: My Linux Ping Command doesn't say something like "Request timed out." for lost packets (like Windows Ping does). So if there is a jump from icmp_seq=81 to icmp_seq=150 it is because everything in between got lost.
You see, in 3.) it has the slow pings once in a while and in between almost normally fast pings, but suddenly a long lag of 6-7sec (this is deadly for voip) and then the circle repeats.Is my E52 wlan chip defect, or is this some kind of Power-Management system? How can I turn it off?I don't need a fast wlan connection on my E52. 1MBit/s is more than enough. But it has to be steady, without lags.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to change the system font on my Nokia N8 because I don't like it. I don't find it comfortable to read, and I especially don't like that *everything* takes on this font - even web pages which use their own font, in the N8 browser this is always changed to Nokia's font! My research seems to have offered me three options for changing the font.
Method 1: Installing a couple of unsigned apps that apparently only actually works on S60 smartphones and is likely to just not work or even break the N8.
Method 2: Involves copying some fonts renamed to a specific folder on a memory card - however for some bizarre reason if you do this you can no longer access the Ovi Store!
Method 3: Installing an application from the Ovi Store that is designed to let you change the system font, however no one who mentions this says what this app is called so I fear they may be talking nonsense and no such app exists!
So is there any way to change the N8 font that actually works and doesn't mess up the phone?
I bought my N8 in the Caribbean as I was living there in the time, and unfortunately the system locale is in US English. I really don't like using it in US English, and prefer to use UK English. Is there a way of changing the language and settings to UK from US?

Sometimes on a full charge I could only get a day to a day and a half of standby time with minimal usage (2-3 texts, no calls and 5 photographs). I put this down to an old battery and ordered a new one.In the meantime we went to my parents-in-law and the battery lasted 5 days on a full charge including a reasonable amount of web browsing via WLAN.Got back home and the battery died a couple of days later despite being fully charged.
Put in a brand new battery, charged it up and used the phone - 2.5 days later it was dead (minimal texts and a couple of photos). Charged it again - 2 days standby before dead.Downloaded the power profile app - everything seemed to be fine. The phone idled nicely on standby with minimal power drain.Then I used the bluetooth and everything became clear. After connecting to OVI for a minute or two, downloading my photos then closing OVI and disabling the bluetooth on the phone, I noticed my power consumption didn't go back down. I was getting regular peaks of around 150ma and the battery life was considerably reduced.
If I left the bluetooth disabled and power cycled the phone, it would settle down to minimal usage. The moment bluetooth was enabled, the problem reocurred.I then backed the phone up, totally wiped the sd card and reinstalled from scratch.Exactly the same problem - fine until BT enabled then even when disabled, the phone started drawing excess current on idle.

Installed the new version, at the end of which the Installer requested a phone restart.When it was starting up, a message stating "system error" popped up. Ever since, I cannot get into the Menu screen, since the same message appears, with an "Ok" item to press. The phone apperas to be working just fine and I can even get into apps by configuring one of the shortcuts in the Standby screen. After backing it up, tried uninstalling all the apps I had recently added, to no avail. In desperation, even reinstalled the firmware via the firmware updater module of the PC Suite, no avail!
