Nokia N97 :: How To Connect To University WiFi?
Jun 13, 2010I'm a student from Clark University, Worcester, MA I've been trying to connect my phone to Clark WiFi but it seems impossible. The technical department has no clue about Nokia phones.This is what I've been doing:I add a new access point automatically under the name ClarkWiFi.Now when I click WLAN security settings, I don't know what to do.My University has given instructions to set-up WiFi on laptops. now everytime i try to join it in my X6 it says invalid WPA preshared key. And i know i have and i used the right key for this. What could be the problem. Has this happened before? And in Destination, I tried setting that access point so that it uses WPA2 and also added the preshared key, but when i try to connect in WIFI manager, it asks me for that preshared key again even though I already set it up.

Oct 23, 2011My N8 does not connect to websites via wifi, in general, 90 % of the times it does not open any web page, either with the default web browser or Opera. However, the phone connects to the wifi network, and Skype for instance always works via wifi, but normally, you cannot go to any webpage or use other programs needing the internet.Surprisingly,sometimes it does connect (10 % of attempts), while nothing was changed in the router or anything. It does happen with any wifi network.

Mar 24, 2010I bought my E55 yesterday, and I can't seem to be able to connect it to my home's wifi.It says the pre-shared key is wrong, but I am positive it's correct. I tried re-entering my pre-shared key in my laptop just to make sure I don't remember it wrong and it connected fine, it's just the phone that doesn't connect.My laptop says my network is connecting using WPA/WPA2 to connect so does the phone. The password is totally 11 digits, 9 letters and 2 numbers.

This phone has got a mind of its own at the moment, Facebook widget tries to connect to packet network even when an existing wi-fi connection is extablished (and spotify is using it). I get a beep every time it fails.
In fact ALL widgets try to establish a packet connection when there's no need and i simply cannot change any settings to make this device work sanely.

Nov 21, 2012I'm sharing my internet connection from my Macbook pro, and have been connecting with my old Lumia 800 without problems. Today I took the plunge and bought a 920. On my way home, I connected via wifi to McDonalds without any problems. When I arrived home I tried to connect to my Macbook using the correct password, and the 920 gave me a "wrong password" message.I then changed the password on the Macbook to a 40 bit WEP code - still no joy. I've tried rebooting both the Mac and the 920, switching channels on the Mac wifi channel and am now getting peeved, as my old 800 still connects without fail.Occasionally I get the "wrong password" message, other times I get "Unable to join".

Sep 7, 2012I've had the 808 since the initial release in India, i.e since August 13. Got it replaced once for the purple tint issue. Though the replacement set has some issues with touchscreen response, but I've learned to live with it. And everything else was working fine, till about a week ago.But now my 808 cannot connect to Wifi, randomly (quite often, actually). If I enable the wifi and go to the Wifi main page, I can see my home network being detected and shown as "Known". I tap on it to connect, it says "Connecting" for about a second or even less than that and then says "Known" again. I've tried tapping on it many times, but it just doesn't connect. Tried different connections of wifi, i.e. joikuspot from my N8, cannot even connect to that. Disabling and re-enabling the Wifi don't work either.
To make Wifi work again, I have to reboot the phone every time the problem arises. It's really annoying, since I use a lot a Wifi.Sincerely,SabbyjHit the kudos button if I was of any help to you. And don't forget to mark the solution if I get one.

All the apps and email work after I click 'Agree' and get the public authorization cookie. I don't have a data plan with this phone. Feb 9, 2012I just updated my N8 from symbian anna to belle. Everything went ok. Now I'm trying to connect to my home wifi network which has WEB security. I can connect without a problem. I mean the phone says it's connected to the network. But when I try to access a website there is only the error page. And after a minute or so the wifi connection drops out by itself. I saved the network, and there's no other destination in the settings/destinations menu. the phone is not connecting to it by itself. Is there a way to go back to Anna?

I can connect to my WiFi network, yet after a while of inactivity the phone starts using 3G data again. I go into the WiFi networks and see that my network is listed as "Known" but not "Connected". I have to manually select it to re-connect.Power saving mode for WiFi is set to off.Is there a setting to automatically connect to any known WiFi network when in range? I am happy to manage battery life by manually turning ove WiFi when not needed.

Jun 13, 2010i have recently updated my phone(to virsion 50.0.005) and ever since it has been acting really weird. after the update, only the web browser would work. bbc iplayer, Internet app, and maps can not connect to my wifi. i get varying messages on each app saying cant connect or simular. my camera will freeze up after recording a video. somtimes when i unlock the screen it locks the screen again within 2 seconds, i have to keep sliding the unlock key untill it eventually stays unlocked.
somtimes no icons show up in the applications menu and the whole phone is slow and laggy things i have tried to solve the issues: connection destinations have all been deleted and set up again including setting prioritys.
factory reset.
uninstall/reinstalling apps.
formatted the memory card.
restored the backup i made before the update.
what else can i try?......................
