Jan 31, 2012So I set my laptop as a hotspot. It works just fine with iphone 3gs, i pick up the signal and its really strong. But I have the Galaxy SII Skyrocket (AT&T) 2.3.5 and it scans but wont even pick up the signal. Tried reseting wifi on the phone, turning airplane mode on and off, made multiple networks to try and connect to but still no dice.

Apr 30, 2011I have an 8520 and i have entered my wifi details & it connects but whenever i try to use the wifi it won't work. whenever i click hotspot login it just keeps saying requesting & in the end it just says unable to conect to server.
all the browser settings are on hotspot browser but the wifi will not work.

May 17, 2014I just got my Lumia 1520 handy but when I tried to connect it to the local Wifi hotspot (WPA2 encrypted), it times out saying "Connection unsuccessful - No response from the network". I searched the net for solutions and based on those, I restarted the Wifi Router, my Lumia 1520. Also I did a factory reset of the device.
But still, it is unable to connect to Wifi hot spot.I also tried connecting with another Wifi hotspot (WPA2), but nothing good happened. My other devices like Surface, Lumia 1020 are able to connect to the same hotspot without any issues. There is no restrictions on no. of Wifi connection as I am broadcasting the Wifi from my laptop (Windows 8.1 Update 1) as a virtual wifi hotspot.

It's either the phone, the ovi software.I have the following: Nokia e72 < acts as modem via cable or bluetooth > laptop..When it acts over modem via either cable or bluetooth, I can only access certain sites eg.I can't access google, or msn messenger for instance
I can access wikipedia, and my ISPs website as an example.Originally I thought it was because it was only able to access australian servers, but this isn't the case. My browser just seems unable to get a connection to certain sites/servers ever - it times out when i try to view google - but only when my phone is the link to the internet.On the phone, I can access every site/server that I want. But not on my laptop via the phone. When I'm on another internet connection (home or work etc), I have no issues connecting to those sites/servers from my laptop.Browsing google over other connections has not helped me find a solution yet. The connection to the net is stable - it doesn't drop out and can remain connected indefinitely.I'm running:
Laptop version: windows7, with ovi 2.2.0.241
Phone version: 031.023
The results have been the same on earlier versions of the phone and ovi software. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Apr 27, 2010I have a local wifi service that works great with my laptop, but when I try to connect to it using the BB, it does not allow me to connect. I am not even getting to the user name/password prompt. It goes through the redirecting page then comes back after several seconds with a "bad query". I have tried the hotspot browser, firefox and Internet explorer with the same results. I have deleted the entry for the wireless connection, cleared all of my cache including cookies. I have neighbors that connect to the same wifi with their iPhones and it is no problem for them. Why would a BB be different. Curve 8530 v5.0.0.508.

Defy includes own app called 3G Mobile Hotspot, which should work like that option for creating mobile WiFi hotspots in other Android phones. But here is the problem.On my older phone with Android 2.2 I could create 3G WiFi hotspot wherever I needed and it worked. But now, with Defy, when I use that application 3G Mobile Hotspot, it writes me error when creating WiFi hotspot "Cannot set up data link, please contact your service provider" I suppose it is something with my carrier (Vodafone_CZ), but when I used 3G WiFi hotspots on older phones (which had that feature included right in Android settings menu) it worked without problems and I a used mobile phone for 3G internet sharing with my laptop.Now I remember, that I have deleted some DUN profile under APN Internet profiles, could it be that problem, that 3G Mobile Hotspot app is not working?how to create WiFi hotspot on my Defy for example with some other app?Or if not, how can I use Internet Tethering in Defy Mobile Networks menu via Bluetooth (my laptot has BT). May 20, 2010I have had the curve for a few weeks now. At first i changed the settings of the browser to "hotspot" so i could use it with wifi. It was working really well, then all of a sudden it stopped durin browsing. The phone says the wifi connection is fine, but whenever i go to the broswer and try to go to a website it just says loading at the bottom and nothing happens.
Can anyone help with this? should i restart the phone setting somehow because i might have done changed some setting during browsing without realising or is this an actual issue with the phone?

However, as I turned off the battery to insert the SIM and connected agian I no more accessed WiFi.
