So I set my laptop as a hotspot. It works just fine with iphone 3gs, i pick up the signal and its really strong. But I have the Galaxy SII Skyrocket (AT&T) 2.3.5 and it scans but wont even pick up the signal. Tried reseting wifi on the phone, turning airplane mode on and off, made multiple networks to try and connect to but still no dice.
I have an iPhone 4 on 3 UK, with unlimited data and unlimited tethering. I also have an LG smart tv, but no Wifi dongle with it, just standard RJ45 ethernet port.
Can I use my iPhone as a hotspot, connected to my laptop either via Wifi or USB, and set up an Ad-hoc network on the laptop to allow my tv internet access via ethernet cable? The laptop is running on windows 7 if that makes any difference.
I have an iPhone 5 and whenever i connect it using a USB cord to my laptop to use my Personal Hotspot, my laptop accept it and everything goes well until i want to use the internet. Whenever i want to use the internet the pages dont load for instance google doesn't load and then it tells me no internet access but on my desktop it shows that I have internet.
My toshiba laptop is running windows vista, and it actually says it's connected through wifi to the personal hotspot on my iPhone 4s, but I am unable to use the Internet at all. When connected via USB, I have no troubles whatsoever. When I check the different connections on the laptop, the USB connection says "local and Internet", while the wifi connection says "local" only. I'm sure this is an issue with the laptop, but I'm severely challenged when it comes to computers.
Today I received a second-hand iphone 3GS to replace a 4s which I lost.
Upon receipt, the phone displayed an image of a usb connector and an itunes logo suggesting that I need to connect to itunes before use.¬
When I attach the phone to a toshiba satellite C50 laptop it connects and immediately disconnects with an audible tone. This connect/disconnect cycle repeats every second or so and never ends.¬
If I connect the phone whilst powered down, hold the power button and home button together for 10 secs and then hold the home button only to enter restore mode, the phone connects to itunes and I get the option to restore. However, the restore always fails.¬
I have tried connecting using two seperate USB cables - I am not sure if either is genuine. There is no effect.¬
I have tried disabling USB controllers individually within device manager. There is no effect.¬
I have tried different USB ports/ There is no effect.¬
While connected, the phone appears in the device manager intermittently, appearing and disappearing as the phone connects/disconnects.¬
Ive been trying to set up the wireless mobile hotspot to work with my laptop. I can get my laptop to connect to the hotspot and authenticate ok but its status never progresses past 'local only' so I have no access to the internet. I cant see anything wrong with my settings either phone or laptop side, and USB tethering works fine.
I've finally bought the "Latest and Greatest" only to be "Greatly" disappointed! I was/am using a USB Broadband modem for internet connection (for mobility) and a cell phone from another provider. Saw the RAZR and preordered from Verizon with much enthusiasm, Hey I'm finally getting with the times upgrading and consolidatingWell on 11/10/11 I received a receipt on the door when I got home, a receipt from FED EX saying they were here and unable to deliver without signature. I jumped back in the car and rushed to the FED EX joint to get my new toy. Well it sure is a beaut! I love it!ell long story shorter... I cannot get Hotmail, Yahoo, Facebook nor my eBay accounts web pages to load on the laptop via using the Hotspot feature. (Among many other sites while browsing) I contacted Verizon several times tried CDMA only blah blah blah.
Verizon escalated me to support out in Utah... TAKE NOTE MOTOROLA! and the Cisco tech there "made some changes" and was able to get me up and running, albeit until after we hung up and I was satisfied that it had been worked around. After about 10 minutes of enjoying "What I have paid for" it quit again and the pages just sit, trying to load and sometimes scrambled.Dismayed, I called Verizon and asked for a new unit, which I recieved last night, (and again had to got to the FED EX joint) IT TOO Will not funtion properly. ( I figured it wouldn't) But hey, even Henry Ford puts out a lemon once in a while.
I have an iPhone 4S that I use as a personal hotspot for my iPad when I'm away from home. My bf has an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1 that will automatically connect to my personal hotspot without me having to do anything with my 4S. My iPad however requires that I unlock my 4S, go to the personal hotspot settings page and then it'll connect. I'm trying to figure out why the iPhone 4 connects to the personal hotspot automatically when the iPad won't. Both connect via wifi. Bluetooth is too slow with the personal hotspot, so I just don't use it.
Today I had my new iphone 4s delivered, I charged it using the wall charger and when I went to sync with my itunes, the phone wasn't connecting to the laptop, I phoned apple support who talked me through re-installing itunes, when he suggested I try the phone on another computer(which was air mac) my phone connected straight away, the apple adviser said the problem would be with my windows, but its all completely up to date, I've got windows 7, thing is, my old phone (3g) connects fine and itunes is opened straight away, why wont it work with the iphone 4s.
My iPhone 4 suddenly wont connect to the laptop anymore. It still charges fine using the wall charger and I've tried numerous leads just in case. It connects to other peoples laptops. I've downloaded the lastest iTunes and tried to reinstall. All my USB ports work fine with other USB devices. The laptop makes the doo doo connection noise when plugged in so it's connecting somewhere. I have an iPhone 4 and a Advent Laptop with Windows 7.
I have an Iphone 4s 32 GB .it doesnot connect to my laptop via usb although it works fine on other laptops I also have an iphone 4s 16 GB. when i connect that to my laptop it works fine what could be the reason of thins
I've been having issues trying to connect my iPhone 5 (updated to the latest software version 7.1.2) to my HP laptop, it makes the little usb noise when it is plugged in, but the phone won't charge and it isn't visible on iTunes or 'my computer.' Im 100% sure its nothing to do with my USB cable as i have more than one genuine Apple lighting cables, I've plugged my mothers iPhone 5 to my laptop which is also updated to the latest version and it connects, charges and¬ also shows up on iTunes. I have tried connecting my iPhone to other laptops (sister's HP laptop, dad's PC) and it works perfectly fine (charges, syncs to iTunes) so im sure its not my handset. I have updated my laptop's software and iTunes and i've checked that all of my USB ports are working fine.¬ ¬
p.s. I had another iPhone 5 which i lost and had the same problem.
I know this has been working before, and I really need to connect my iPad via Bluetooth to my iPhone so that I can then use the Wireless via my iPhone. Unfortunately, every time I connect to the iPhone via Bluetooth the WiFi on the iPhone disconnects.
I recently upgraded from the iphone 3g to iphone 4s,my iphone 3g has always connected to my laptop fine, which i got my new iphone my laptop just wouldn't recognise the new phone, it would be displayed in my computers devices yet unable to load in itunes, the phone doesn't charge by the laptop, the USB port and USB cable are fine, tried it on my friends Apple Mac and phone connected straight away i have turned off windows firewall and my security but still doesn't work,i would really really appriciate some help so that i can sync with my laptop!!7
