Is there a link to this setup?
I do not need/want to buy the monthly tether package - I only want to do this occasionally..
I keep getting the following message:"The network you are connected to appears to be a hotspot. You may be required to consent to legal terms and/or set up an account to get internet access. Hotspot operators may charge service fees for internet access". However, its a free network that my other devices, such as my playbook connect to without problems. When I click "OK" I get another message that says: "This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wi-Fi connection and try again." I click OK, and it takes my to the BB browser, which of course doesn't work. Its like it wants me to give permission to use the network, but I need to use the network to give the approval.
-WiFi is enabled
-Bluetooth is enabled
-Other devices including Playbook currently work on the network
-Repeatedly gives me the first message above, followed by the second message above
We have a BB wall charger (not 3rd party). It works perfectly with my Bold 9700 and it used to work with the Torch as well. All of a sudden it started not to charge the Torch (wall charger). You plug it in and there is no response from the phone whatsoever. But, if you plug it to your PC/Laptop it charges through the USB power.Another thing we noticed is that it no longer gives you any options like "usb drive" "sync media" or "charge only". Also, it is a bit wiggly on the phone side (fitting of the microUSB plug). It wasn't as wiggly before the problems, but there doesn't seem to be any obvious physical damage or any reason for a damage (as much as we know).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have recently added my company email on Blackberry Torch 9800. Whenever I get any mail on my BB and I read it, while Outlook is not open on my laptop, the mail is not delivered on my laptop at all. I have already ticked the "leave a copy of messages on Server" in accounts settings.
Further, I receive mails on my BB in bunches after a gap varying from 20 mins to 1 hour after the sender has sent the mail to me. I receive from 4 - 10 mails at one single time, but not as and when they are posted. After facing these problems, I upgraded the OS to 6.0.0 bundle 2647, however the behavior has not changed.
Is it possible to use the torch 9800 as an analogue modem connected to my laptop and connect to another analogue modem over the normal PSTN telephone lines?I know I can connect to the internet but in this particular case I do require the internet only the connection to the other analogue modem.

So I set my laptop as a hotspot. It works just fine with iphone 3gs, i pick up the signal and its really strong. But I have the Galaxy SII Skyrocket (AT&T) 2.3.5 and it scans but wont even pick up the signal. Tried reseting wifi on the phone, turning airplane mode on and off, made multiple networks to try and connect to but still no dice.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIve been trying to set up the wireless mobile hotspot to work with my laptop. I can get my laptop to connect to the hotspot and authenticate ok but its status never progresses past 'local only' so I have no access to the internet. I cant see anything wrong with my settings either phone or laptop side, and USB tethering works fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've finally bought the "Latest and Greatest" only to be "Greatly" disappointed! I was/am using a USB Broadband modem for internet connection (for mobility) and a cell phone from another provider. Saw the RAZR and preordered from Verizon with much enthusiasm, Hey I'm finally getting with the times upgrading and consolidatingWell on 11/10/11 I received a receipt on the door when I got home, a receipt from FED EX saying they were here and unable to deliver without signature. I jumped back in the car and rushed to the FED EX joint to get my new toy. Well it sure is a beaut! I love it!ell long story shorter... I cannot get Hotmail, Yahoo, Facebook nor my eBay accounts web pages to load on the laptop via using the Hotspot feature. (Among many other sites while browsing) I contacted Verizon several times tried CDMA only blah blah blah.
Verizon escalated me to support out in Utah... TAKE NOTE MOTOROLA! and the Cisco tech there "made some changes" and was able to get me up and running, albeit until after we hung up and I was satisfied that it had been worked around. After about 10 minutes of enjoying "What I have paid for" it quit again and the pages just sit, trying to load and sometimes scrambled.Dismayed, I called Verizon and asked for a new unit, which I recieved last night, (and again had to got to the FED EX joint) IT TOO Will not funtion properly. ( I figured it wouldn't) But hey, even Henry Ford puts out a lemon once in a while.
As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an iPhone 4 on 3 UK, with unlimited data and unlimited tethering. I also have an LG smart tv, but no Wifi dongle with it, just standard RJ45 ethernet port.
Can I use my iPhone as a hotspot, connected to my laptop either via Wifi or USB, and set up an Ad-hoc network on the laptop to allow my tv internet access via ethernet cable? The laptop is running on windows 7 if that makes any difference.

I have an iPhone 5 and whenever i connect it using a USB cord to my laptop to use my Personal Hotspot, my laptop accept it and everything goes well until i want to use the internet. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy toshiba laptop is running windows vista, and it actually says it's connected through wifi to the personal hotspot on my iPhone 4s, but I am unable to use the Internet at all. When connected via USB, I have no troubles whatsoever. When I check the different connections on the laptop, the USB connection says "local and Internet", while the wifi connection says "local" only. I'm sure this is an issue with the laptop, but I'm severely challenged when it comes to computers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have already installed the new Desktop Manager 6.0 that I downloaded from the RIM site.
I am thinking the safest way to not have a problem is the just restore my 9800 data from a back up rather than do the Switch Device thing. Anyone worried it might bring erroneous crap into the new 6.0 OS.
Maybe it would be better to redo my settings after the data install to make sure all is clean and working correctly. Some of the 5.0 setting would not be applicable to the new 6.0 software.
Title speaks for its self. They just posted on there wall they will be offering it. No details as to when/price.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy boss and I just bought two BlackBerry Torch 9810's under the impression that these phones had the ability to use the phone as a mobile HotSpot. At this point it appears that this function should be availble in BlackBerry OS 7.1. As far as I can see Sprint has just released this update about 3 days ago.I really need to know when this will be available for ATT Wireless, as that is our current provider. My boss is already planning on taking his BlackBerry back to ATT within his 30 day period so he can get a Droid that already has this function if we can't get some reassurance that this option is indeed going to become available and soon.I on the other hand, have had my phone for two months, but would rather have a BlackBerry over a Droid any day, but I did have the expectation that I could use the phone as a HotSpot or at least tether over WiFi, or else I may have sucked it up and gotten a Droid (even though I prefer BlackBerry).
