View 8 Replies View RelatedMy boss and I just bought two BlackBerry Torch 9810's under the impression that these phones had the ability to use the phone as a mobile HotSpot. At this point it appears that this function should be availble in BlackBerry OS 7.1. As far as I can see Sprint has just released this update about 3 days ago.I really need to know when this will be available for ATT Wireless, as that is our current provider. My boss is already planning on taking his BlackBerry back to ATT within his 30 day period so he can get a Droid that already has this function if we can't get some reassurance that this option is indeed going to become available and soon.I on the other hand, have had my phone for two months, but would rather have a BlackBerry over a Droid any day, but I did have the expectation that I could use the phone as a HotSpot or at least tether over WiFi, or else I may have sucked it up and gotten a Droid (even though I prefer BlackBerry).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep getting the following message:"The network you are connected to appears to be a hotspot. You may be required to consent to legal terms and/or set up an account to get internet access. Hotspot operators may charge service fees for internet access". However, its a free network that my other devices, such as my playbook connect to without problems. When I click "OK" I get another message that says: "This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wi-Fi connection and try again." I click OK, and it takes my to the BB browser, which of course doesn't work. Its like it wants me to give permission to use the network, but I need to use the network to give the approval.
-WiFi is enabled
-Bluetooth is enabled
-Other devices including Playbook currently work on the network
-Repeatedly gives me the first message above, followed by the second message above
I was always using on other phones with Android 2.2 FroYo that 3G mobile hotspot feature, which was included right in the Android system under Wireless Networks settings. Now in Defy there is no option like that under settings in FroYo. Defy includes own app called 3G Mobile Hotspot, which should work like that option for creating mobile WiFi hotspots in other Android phones. But here is the problem. On my older phone with Android 2.2 I could create 3G WiFi hotspot wherever I needed and it worked. But now, with Defy, when I use that application 3G Mobile Hotspot, it writes me error when creating WiFi hotspot "Cannot set up data link, please contact your service provider" I suppose it is something with my carrier (Vodafone_CZ), but when I used 3G WiFi hotspots on older phones (which had that feature included right in Android settings menu) it worked without problems and I a used mobile phone for 3G internet sharing with my laptop. Now I remember, that I have deleted some DUN profile under APN Internet profiles, could it be that problem, that 3G Mobile Hotspot app is not working?how to create WiFi hotspot on my Defy for example with some other app?Or if not, how can I use Internet Tethering in Defy Mobile Networks menu via Bluetooth (my laptot has BT). I dont know, what should I set in my laptot to use Defy like BT 3G Internet provider and I dont know, if Internet Tetherig via BT is not charged at my carrier (I know, that the 3G WiFi hotspot feature was not extra charged..) so for that reason I would like to make it working on my Defy.
My ROM: original 34.179.2.MB525.Retail.en.CEE
Android 2.2.2
I really need to know. Is it possible that It will be out before november 27? Cuz thats when my contract expires.

The only way to reset the phone is to pull the battery. Typically I have to reset the phone at least 4 times a day. I have now got the App QuickPull which enables a soft reset without pulling the battery.

I like the Torch a lot. The for factor suits me. I have no problems with it. I would however like to have an app or some way to disable the touch screen so that Im using the trackpad as im used to. In any case apart from web browsing i use the trackpad mostly.
Im not saying the touch screen is bad or faulty or I shld get another phone etc! I just want to know if anyone who is using apps like pattern lock etc have come across a way to make the Torch disable its touch screen - even if for a short while?
Recently whenever I make a call the screen on my Torch goes blank, how to rectify this problem?

As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWith Verizon offering mobile hotspot on the Palm PrePlus & I believe Google is including it on their next OS update (2.2) & Sprint including it on the EVO 4G, I'm wondering if Apple & AT&T would keep up by offering it on the new iPhone. The one reason I'd probably say no is the iPad 3G. Just wondering what you guys thought.
View 14 Replies View RelatedObviously the usual jail breaking will occur when it’s released but I'm wondering if anyone has heard of or has proof of built-in mobile hot-spotting with OS 4.0?And if not, could it be one of the things that "won't disappoint" us on June 7th?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have the original M7 by HTC. My mobile hotspot used to work very well, brilliantly in fact. Ever since updating to Lollipop (5.0.2) I have been unable to keep my hotspot on consistently. Even now, as I am writing this, the hotspot has been turned off by itself (disconnects me from the internet) and I have to turn my phone back on, and switch the hotspot back on.
Is it a setting somewhere I am missing, or do you think it's a bug within lollipop? Is there any other way to get to use the data I pay for as internet through my phone? I have tried doing a hard tether, but I can't find an option to use it as internet (only data transfer.)

I have recently upgraded to the official RIM release of 7.1 from [URL] which means that I'm running 7.1 .0.205. With this I get the Mobile Hotspot functionality, finally! I've configured the APN username and password requested, and created a 16 charactor password for the hotspot itself. I've verified these are correct. Now, whenever I try to enable the Mobile Hotspot, I get a pop up error message that states:"The mobile data network that your device is connected to does not support this feature" with the title "Mobile HotSpot".To complicate matters, I am currently abroad, and hence roaming away from my home network. However, I can confirm that I am able to access the internet on the built in browser and can send and receive emails on the blackberry itself.
On another note, I thought that maybe the problem may be incorrect APN settings, so I tried to access the 'Mobile HotSpot' settings in order to update this, and I get a very unhelpful message that says:'Before Opening Mobile HotSpot Options, go to Manage Connections and turn on Mobile Hotspot'Clearly, I can't do that, so am pretty much stuck. I found that wiping the device allows me to re enter the credentials, and these still do not work. I even tried to add in the APN details of the network that I am roaming onto, and still no luck.

I have just bought a Microsoft Surface table. This does not have a 3G option. One thought is to access 3g via my Blackberry Curve 9300. Many mobiles can be enabled as a hotspot. Is this possible with the 9300?

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got my unlocked 950, coming from an unlocked 1020. Having some issues getting hotspot working. Mobile hotspot worked fine on 1020 (T-Mobile).
On 950, I can start mobile hotspot and even connect to it from my laptop. It works for about a minute, speedtest shows that I am connecting from a T-Mobile device, and mobile hotspot on the phone shows that there is a laptop connected. But then the connection dies. When I check the phone at that point, hotspot shows that is in "off" state. Attempting to turn it on produces one of these errors:
On first attempt to turn it back on (from within the hotspot app): "Connection not shared. Mobile hotspot isn't currently available."
On subsequent attempts: "Connection not shared. There's no cellular data connection to share right now. Check your cellular settings and signal, and try again".
The pulldown settings menu shows hotspot as turned off. Toggling it does nothing.
Rebooting the phone is the only way to get the hotspot to turn on again. At that point it only works for a minute or so and then dies.
Of course, "Cellular Data" is enabled in settings. I am on a T-Mobile plan and tethering is enabled in my account and worked fine on my 1020 for about a year with that same SIM. Works fine on my Android devices too.
