View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a local wifi service that works great with my laptop, but when I try to connect to it using the BB, it does not allow me to connect. I am not even getting to the user name/password prompt. It goes through the redirecting page then comes back after several seconds with a "bad query". I have tried the hotspot browser, firefox and Internet explorer with the same results. I have deleted the entry for the wireless connection, cleared all of my cache including cookies. I have neighbors that connect to the same wifi with their iPhones and it is no problem for them. Why would a BB be different. Curve 8530 v5.0.0.508.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an 8520 and i have entered my wifi details & it connects but whenever i try to use the wifi it won't work. whenever i click hotspot login it just keeps saying requesting & in the end it just says unable to conect to server.
all the browser settings are on hotspot browser but the wifi will not work.
I have had the curve for a few weeks now. At first i changed the settings of the browser to "hotspot" so i could use it with wifi. It was working really well, then all of a sudden it stopped durin browsing. The phone says the wifi connection is fine, but whenever i go to the broswer and try to go to a website it just says loading at the bottom and nothing happens.
Can anyone help with this? should i restart the phone setting somehow because i might have done changed some setting during browsing without realising or is this an actual issue with the phone?
I recently unlocked my 8520 from t-mobile to at&t, i have the data plan with both providers. After i started using the 8520 on the at&t network i noticed that i cannot change my setting from hotspot browser to internet browser anymore which in turn i cannot use the data service with at&t that i am paying for. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried everything I have read on forums to get the WiFi connection to work, but I did not succeed:
* resetting the BB by removing the battery
* try different security settings for the WiFi, including disabling security
i have recently upgraded the software on my phone and now i cant connect to any wifi spots at work or at home. the wifi icon just stays grey but at the top of the phone, it shows i am connected to networks.
where i live i have no mobile signal and i rely on the WIFI to get my emails through.
I recently just purchased a blackberry curve 8520 with Fido. My phone is connected to my wifi at home, but I want to make sure that I am strictly using wifi NOT data (because I do not have a data plan). I noticed that in a public wifi network, a red asterisk appears on the WiFi symbol on the top right hand corner of the phone. Like this :( the WiFi symbol is circled to demonstrate what I mean when I say WiFi symbol and the asterisk appeared like so)However on my home network , though it says it is connected, the asterick does not appear. As you can see it says "Fido-peanut butter" ( my router name) meaning yes, I am "connected".... BUT without the red asterisk on the wifi symbol ( with my home WiFi) Does this mean I am not properly connected? I called Fido and the CSR said she thinks it has something to do with login password in the public WiFi, but she is not certain.
The problem seems to be this: When I go to "Mobile Network Options" to turn "data services" OFF( to make sure I am only using wifi and no data), the connection fails and I get this message:When I turn it ON, I am able to connect. For "Connection Preference": what setting should I set it to if I do not want to use any data BUT WIFI? Yes, the obvious answer would be to choose "WI-Fi" only, but this means I will not be able to call/text because my mobile connection will be turned off. So, how can I verify that I am really only using wifi and not data when both the data service is ON and my wifi is "connected"?This is a checklist of what I have done:
1) HOTSPOT USER - check.
2) insterted pin provided by the phone into my dlink router (via online)
3)tried the push button setup
4)rebooted my router/modem
5)there is a checkmark beside WiFi connection:
It would seem like I am connected to Wifi, but again, to reiterate I would like to ask if WiFi is the ONLY thing I am using and not Data.
When I bought this device, my wi-fi connection is doing well but after a month of using, I suddenly have trouble connecting to the internet. Instead of a green tickmark next to the wi-fi setting, it's a white dash that has been appearing. The wi-fi logo at the top of the screen is colored gray and there's a word "edge" over it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about buying a BB Curve 8520 and was wondering if 1) You can just use it w/o having a data plan, 2) If so, can I use the Wi-Fi to join my house network w/o having a data plan, and 3) Would I be able to download apps then, specifically Pandora?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use my Curve 8520 to connect to the internet using my home Wi-Fi. I have not trouble connecting and downloading apps, or using web sites. The problem comes when I try to use one of the apps which needs and internet connection (Blackberry App World, Facebook, Google, etc.). All of these apps generate an error message saying that they are having trouble connecting to the internet and that I should verify my network connections. This leads me to believe I have a setting wrong somewhere.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a home WiFi network and can connect my BB 8520 curve to it successfully and it is able to browse and use apps etc. How-ever everyday or two even though it remains connected to WiFi it suddenly is not able to browse. I need to restart the BB or Router or both and then it reconnects and can browse again. What could be causing this ?I am unable to add or be added to other BB's in terms of using the IM. Contacts that I am trying to add remain in pending (waiting for authorization). I do not have a data plan with my 3G network provider as I only want to use data related functions when connected to my home Wi-Fi. What could be causing the problem?
