I have a BB 8520 Curve. I downloaded FB for Curve, but it doesn't work I don't have internet on my phone, so I only use it with wifi. I found a FB that is for this option (at least that is what I understood), version, I think 1.5. But when I downloaded it, it said that my phone doesn't have this option... How could I download a version that works?
Over a month ago i started having this problem with my blackberry curve. My bbm wont send or receive messages, at all. So I deleted my only contact which was hubby, and tried to add him again, but the request is just pending and he hasnt gotten a message to accept me at all. Soon after my emails stopped working as well as facebook. I could not send nor receive emails. I might also mention that I have a wi-fi conection working, i can use the browser and all, but the wi=fi symbol doesnt light up, it just stays dull. So i deleted the email account I had on the phone and took it into the vodafone shop I got it in. I received the phone back this week with a latter telling me they could not find these problems and that the phone had been updated and was fixed. It was not. So i pluged it into my laptop, tried updating and all that, also brought £10 credit incase that was the problem. Still nothing.
I have a Curve 8520 from TMobile (US).I also had a Pearl 8100 from Fido (Canada).I got the Curve unlocked and want to use it on the Fido network instead of the Pearl. I seem to have gotten everything working on the Curve, except for the email.I had the same email accounts (gmail, hotmail) set up on both phones, but for some reason now that I've switched over to the Curve on the Fido network, I can't send or receive email.I've checked all my settings, and they seem right.I can access the web, my Wi-Fi is set up, and I can send & receive texts. Anyone have any ideas about this email problem? Also, I can't remember my account username for the BB website to access my account online to change the email. When I ask to send my password, it says it has been sent to my BB, but of course I can't receive email, so I'm not getting it.
I am having little problem with my blackberry 8520....earlier today I couldn't see my blackberry messenger on the instant message file, so searching for it led me to reloading my phone and before I reloaded it, the wifi connection was working perfectly, but now I can connect to wifi but my instant messengers are not working with it, like my blackberry messenger and yahoo messenger are not working with the wifi connection. And under the "Default Browser Configuration, I can see T-mobile internet and Hotspot browser alone.
I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 which has been working normally for nearly a year now. Yesterday morning I found that most things were not working. I also found icons for 'music sync' and games on there that weren't there before, which I have since removed. I don't know whether this is related in any way.
My twitter app says 'Twitter services are currently unavailable', my facebook app says 'A connection cannot be established to the Facebook server', my browser says 'Unable to connect to the Internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider.' My BBM messages are not sending to others and when I try and send an email, the red X appears and the message status is 'Service blocked'.
changed to a contract curve 8520 all working okay on day 1, I had my old PAYG number ported onto this phone now my browser does not work, no email I think more . Customer care say its a problem on BB after number ported they are waiting for a fix can anyone help! if not phone going back
Okay, I recently got a replacement blackberry and used the device switch wizard to switch from my old Blackberry 8520 to my new Blackberry 8520. At first, I had a few problems with the Twitter and Facebook apps, but thanks to rcnathan, that's under control.
But now there's a new problem: email. Neither of my email addresses work (@*.blackberry.net or my personal email) and anytime I try to send something, a red X immediately appears next to it.
I have a brand new BB 9360 with unlimited email, bbm and phone plan (no data plan but I didn't have one on my old phone either and I didn't have this issue). When I'm connected to Wifi, my bbm and email works perfectly. As soon as I leave that wifi connection, it shows I am connected to the Bell network but bbm and email do not work until I turn my phone off then on or make a phone call. It is like it has to reset before really picking up the bell network. I called Bell Canada and they basically told me I have to manually disconnect and reconnect every time I leave a wifi connection. That doesn't even work.
I have a 8520 and recently updated my software. After I did this my email envelope has disappeared. I have replaced my original settings and nothing. I do receive emails but in the general message envelope.
I have an ATT 8520 Curve unlocked to work with a tmobile sim card and have a few questions...Now that's unlocked I cant setup an external email account (hotmail, gmail, etc...) that icon is missing from the setup section. how can I get that feature? can I also use the bbm feature? I added a friend (and vice-versa) but it just stays as pending. is it possible to bbm? for the above 2 do i need to get the bb data plan so they can work? I've read elsewhere that the best way to get the features would be to load the tmobile handheld software. I went to tmobiles site, I enter my ph# - select the 8520 - click on handheld and it takes me to their 'shop for phones' page. I guess they now by the number that i dont currently have a bb. So I tried a friends ph# from tmobile who has a bb and it still took me to the 'shop for phones' page. So I Am hoping it's just a link glitch going on right now. I did download from this forum the 5.0 OS "8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel860_PL5.2.0.47_A5.0.0.509_W ind_Hellas.exe" which obviously is not tmobile. What would loading this different OS allow me to do? Or what features will I have available? and I have lowercase 'edge'.
I have a problem I cannot conect to 2 wifi spots that have the same ssid it tels me to replace the other one as my router at home and at work are the same I have to delete one which makes me enter the pasword all the time is there no way to change this Also app world doesn't work on my mobile why its a bb smartphone right so why can't I use it?
I used a Storm for the last 30 days, and had 3 distinct and separate icons: Messages - catchall for everything Desktop email icon 2nd/personal email icon However, I switched back to the Curve (8530) because of the keyboard, and now I don't have a primary desktop email icon. The only way to view work email is to use the messages icon where everything else goes as well. Is there any way to create or separate the two email accounts so I can view the work email separately?
I live in Panama, and I use Telefonica services.Currently I have two accounts already set up on my phone, one is hotmail and the other of my university where I live.I want to add a new email account at Setup-Email Settings and it send me to the page = if you want to access your email settings or you changed your device log in. how can I add a new email account?
I recently purchased a bb curve 8520 and hav a data plan of my provider too.I jus wantd to knw is it possi to use bbm wid wi-fi. Or v cn nly use it wid d data plan ?
i have recently upgraded the software on my phone and now i cant connect to any wifi spots at work or at home. the wifi icon just stays grey but at the top of the phone, it shows i am connected to networks.
where i live i have no mobile signal and i rely on the WIFI to get my emails through.
I recently just purchased a blackberry curve 8520 with Fido. My phone is connected to my wifi at home, but I want to make sure that I am strictly using wifi NOT data (because I do not have a data plan). I noticed that in a public wifi network, a red asterisk appears on the WiFi symbol on the top right hand corner of the phone. Like this :( the WiFi symbol is circled to demonstrate what I mean when I say WiFi symbol and the asterisk appeared like so)However on my home network , though it says it is connected, the asterick does not appear. As you can see it says "Fido-peanut butter" ( my router name) meaning yes, I am "connected".... BUT without the red asterisk on the wifi symbol ( with my home WiFi) Does this mean I am not properly connected? I called Fido and the CSR said she thinks it has something to do with login password in the public WiFi, but she is not certain.
The problem seems to be this: When I go to "Mobile Network Options" to turn "data services" OFF( to make sure I am only using wifi and no data), the connection fails and I get this message:When I turn it ON, I am able to connect. For "Connection Preference": what setting should I set it to if I do not want to use any data BUT WIFI? Yes, the obvious answer would be to choose "WI-Fi" only, but this means I will not be able to call/text because my mobile connection will be turned off. So, how can I verify that I am really only using wifi and not data when both the data service is ON and my wifi is "connected"?This is a checklist of what I have done:
1) HOTSPOT USER - check.
2) insterted pin provided by the phone into my dlink router (via online)
3)tried the push button setup
4)rebooted my router/modem
5)there is a checkmark beside WiFi connection:
It would seem like I am connected to Wifi, but again, to reiterate I would like to ask if WiFi is the ONLY thing I am using and not Data.
When I bought this device, my wi-fi connection is doing well but after a month of using, I suddenly have trouble connecting to the internet. Instead of a green tickmark next to the wi-fi setting, it's a white dash that has been appearing. The wi-fi logo at the top of the screen is colored gray and there's a word "edge" over it.
i have a bb curve 8520 (edge, wifi) v5.0.0.822, platform 5.2.0.76 tmobile brand + at&t i have no sim card, and device isnt unlocked. well at first i had free wifi, i updated the os a few times, wiped the device more than needed, and performed battery pulls........ still got free wifi for over 3 months. did with no type of data plan.i called tmobile to request a unlock. i got the run around to go to RIM for help. the next day i have no wifi. i try to turn it on the check mark vanishes, the red x notifying connection is off never turns to green on. not only that my mac address is 00:00:00:00:00:00. i only want the free wifi for home use, i just got into developing for the bb smartphones. this device only purpose is a portible workspace to write code, test apps, and simulators on the go, so i can learn more about this craft.
I have recently changed my blackberry plan to instant messages and email only and now i cannot access the internet over my home wifi. It connects but remains grayed out and no internet pages will load. I have hot rebooted several times and there is no problem with my wifi
I have an ADB wireless router and a very slow internet conection , and although my 2 laptops connect to the wifi here in Portugal, my blackberry curve 8520 on vodafone PT, doesnt connect , it identifies the network and shows wifi logo in grey and under network connections it showsthe network name with a white dash next to it and the signal strength.i have tried different setting on the router such as: wpa2, wpa, wep and open, but i get the same result.my internet speed is only 213kbps, would this effect the wifi? i have tried deleting the network and then taking out the battery while witched on etc....
i have been sent an mms but i cannot retrieve it and im also having trouble with the wifi, i have a home router and i have it up via the manual instructions, it will show the wifi name on the top of the screen but when i try to connection to the net it says unable to connect?
I'm thinking about buying a BB Curve 8520 and was wondering if 1) You can just use it w/o having a data plan, 2) If so, can I use the Wi-Fi to join my house network w/o having a data plan, and 3) Would I be able to download apps then, specifically Pandora?
I'm trying to use my Curve 8520 to connect to the internet using my home Wi-Fi. I have not trouble connecting and downloading apps, or using web sites. The problem comes when I try to use one of the apps which needs and internet connection (Blackberry App World, Facebook, Google, etc.). All of these apps generate an error message saying that they are having trouble connecting to the internet and that I should verify my network connections. This leads me to believe I have a setting wrong somewhere.
i am trying to connect my blackberry curve 8520 to my own wi-fi at home, but it will not connect me to the router?its says to enter a pin to the router... i have watched videos on Internet and followed them step by step, but yet it still does not connect, this is what i have done:
-went to main menu -clicked on 'manage connections' -made sure the 'wi-fi on' box is ticked -then clicked 'set up wi-fi network' -scan for networks -clicked on the network which is my router -then it comes up saying
'provisioning wi-fi profiles...enter this pin into your wireless router: 18104707 time remaining 4:11.'
I have a bb curve 8520, I currently connect to my home wifi an have been fine using that, all of a sudden its not working! It says I am connected so I try to browse the internet and it says Unable to Connect to Internet, Please try again later. I am very confused as it says I am successful connected to my wifi?
I already set up my wifi network yesterday and i was able to browse but it stopped working just this morning. It prompted that the available wifi network is available but each time I am attempting to connect it says: Unable to connect. Reason Failure to connect to the network.
