BB Curve 8520/8530 :: Cannot Change From Hotspot Browser To Internet Browser
Apr 4, 2010
I recently unlocked my 8520 from t-mobile to at&t, i have the data plan with both providers. After i started using the 8520 on the at&t network i noticed that i cannot change my setting from hotspot browser to internet browser anymore which in turn i cannot use the data service with at&t that i am paying for. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.
Okay so I disconnected my BIS and was using my internet via hotspot but now I have reconnected my internet service and I go to change from hotspot browser there isnt any other option its just hotspot nothin else nowhere internet browser is seen on the phone at all. I tried host routing table thing and didnt get back a message and the table itself is blank the service books nothin there either.
I just got my Blackberry Curve two weeks ago and it the browser doesn't load pages. The bar at the bottom looks like it has reached 100% but it never shows the webpage. My friend downloaded Opera Mini and it works fine. My email also works fine. I wanted to download an app and it didn't work either because I think it was using the brower to open a webpage.
Basically ever since I updated my blackberry and I downloaded opera mini my browser isn't working. I click it multiple times and nothing happens I deleted opera mini off my phone hoping that my browser will work but still nothing.
My friend has the Curve 8530 on Verizon and OS 22.214.171.1248. She has the data package, which Verizon requires, but does not have any data or e-mail accessability on her Curve. She has done battery pulls, resent routing tables, and gone in to the store. Each time she goes in they tell her it is a software issue and that there is not an update yet. Is anyone else having this issue? Are they just pulling her leg because they have no clue?
When I try to go to a website, it simply says "loading" but the page never actually shows up. What I've tried so far: Battery pull; minor browser configuration changes (like changing the recognition from BlackBerry to Firefox); checking for updates. Blackberry Curve 8530 v126.96.36.1994.
Over the past two days I have not been able to access my brower (8520 curve), can someone please explain why? I can enter a www address but it just reads "loading", the little black box in the top right corner flashes then stops, disappears and nothing else happens. I end up closing it the browser down.
changed to a contract curve 8520 all working okay on day 1, I had my old PAYG number ported onto this phone now my browser does not work, no email I think more . Customer care say its a problem on BB after number ported they are waiting for a fix can anyone help! if not phone going back
i am connected through wifi on my phone, and i also have a data plan of 4mb per month. under general properties, when i choose the hotspot browser to be the default, no website pages ever load and all i see is a white page. when i set the internet browser to the default, it works, but at the bottom of the screen it says loading data (e.g. 57/57k)
1. when using the internet browser as default, am i being charged with data even if wifi is connected?
2. are there any settings i could change to fix the problem with my hotspot browser as default?
I have a Blackberry 8520, and every time I go and use the internet browser, it takes like 10 hours to load, and once it has loaded, the page is still blank! It's not a case of internet connection, because my apps work. So I don't know what to do, I've tried resetting, and it sometimes does the trick, but after a little it starts to not work anymore.
I recently installed Tank's Act 2 .497 Hybrid (which is awesome) on my 9550. Previously, I had only been running the stock OS 188.8.131.520 on my device. I actually searched quite a bit, but found no problems that were quite the same as what I'm experiencing. I had posted this same issue on page 17 of Tank's thread, but decided to start a new thread just to be able to reach more of the masses, as I'm not sure if this issue is specific to Tank's hybrid or not.
Everything works great, with one lone exception--I have my default browser set to "hotspot" as I always have, and previously (using .320) if I was in an area with no WIFI signal, the browser would just automatically switch over to the Internet browser and load my pages just fine. Now, however, if I have no WIFI signal, I get a "This is a WIFI service. Please ensure your device has an active WIFI connection and try again." message, forcing me to go into the browser settings and manually change the browser from "hotspot" to "Internet".Is this normal (for any OS version)? Is there some setting somewhere I'm missing? Seems to be a bit of a pain, just to take advantage of WIFI, to have to set this manually all the time.
*Also, as much as I appreciate the help, I'm not looking for "Use Opera Mini! It PWNS the BB Browser!!!1!". Yeah, I know there are other browsers out there, some with great features (and speeds), but I'm just trying to figure out this issue with the BB Browser.
I have just bought a blackberry bold and trying to get to the internet, but it keeps telling me this is a wifi service.I checked the config in the options, and it says its set at hotspot browser. when i click on it, it give me no other options.can you help?
My 8520 browser has suddenly stopped loading Internet pages.
When ever I try and access the Internet or click a link, the Browser opens up says "requesting" and then "loading" - the Blue Bar starts to slowly load up at the bottom of the screen - and thats it, nothing else happensthe screen remains blank, the Blue bar loads up and ... nothing.
My Mobile plan allows me Internet 2G acess and I also have Wi-Fi - all of which has been working perfectly for 8 months until now.
Wi-Fi and 2G internet appears to work perfectly for my Twitter app and my Emails come thru fine too.
OK I'm totally a newbie with BlackBerry and this is my second post on here.I live here in the US but I'm Brazilian and am going crazy over the world cup.I want really badly to stream live radio via the browser on BB but it won't work because it needs a Flash Plug In for one station and a Windows Media Player for another. Is there anyway that we can stream live video and radio outside Sprint TV?
My husband got a curve 8530 the other day. All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing. The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile. Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
the Hotspot Browser icon shows on the main menu but when I click on it nothing happens. If I select the Hotspot Browser icon and then press the Menu key, I get kicked into the main menu. Have searched far and wide for the answer to this problem, but no luck. Most posts complaining about the Hotspot Browser are about getting a connection to the Internet. I am not even that far -- the browser simply doesn't load.I have a BB email plan and wifi. The wifi works fine for email with the mobile network turned off, so I know that my Wifi settings are fine.
I have a T329 unlocked from T-Mobile and I use it with either Rogers Wireless or Fido (Canada). Is there anyway that I can change the browser/wap settings so that I can use a browser setup other than T-Mobile's T-Zones? This is a back-up phone and I don't use a mobile browser too often, but it's handy to have it there, just in case.
I bought a new E71 whilst visiting the UK and now using it in my home country in South America. Wireless internet hotspots in my country require you to change your internet connections LAN settings within the internet explorer browser to "Automatically detect settings".I just need to know how to do that on the E71 because I am picking up Wireless Hotspots but cannot use them until the LAN settings are changed on the phone's browser!
I have had the curve for a few weeks now. At first i changed the settings of the browser to "hotspot" so i could use it with wifi. It was working really well, then all of a sudden it stopped durin browsing. The phone says the wifi connection is fine, but whenever i go to the broswer and try to go to a website it just says loading at the bottom and nothing happens.
Can anyone help with this? should i restart the phone setting somehow because i might have done changed some setting during browsing without realising or is this an actual issue with the phone?
I've got a BB storm 2 (verizon) and am using it on a Uk (vodafone) network. The only problem am faced with, is changing the default browser configuration from Hotspot to Internet browser. It does not give any option to change it to internet browser. I tried in the browser and Advanced options with no luck.
I cannot change my Internet Browser's homepage. I have gone to the configuration and scrolled down, but "Use Current" is not there (as it was on my previous blackberries) and I cannot even edit the "http://mobile.blackberry.com" that is already there. Any ideas on how to change it? Has Rogers locked the homepage to this, and is there a way to change/fix it?
So I've had my phone for about a month now. When I first got it, I could browse the internet just fine. But slowly, over the past few weeks, I've suddenly not been able to click links on any webpages. I can type things in, like in a Google search, but then can't click the search button and nothing happens when I press the enter button on my keyboard either. I know this isn't specific to certain websites because it's happening on sites that worked fine before. I've tried changing my browser, none of them worked
I had to get a new bb becuase my old one messed up. With my previous plan I did not need the AT&T bb datapackage... I don't need one now. However, with the new phone, AT&T automatically added the BB dataplan. I cant get rid of it, and i dont want to get rid of the phone.
Heres what I did: I put my sim in another non-BB phone, call AT&T and deleted my dataplan. It worked. I then put my sim back into my BB, and a few mins later got a txt msg saying AT&T has added the BB data onto my phone. aaahhh! So, how do I change the IMEI number to my old non-BB phone, so that AT&T can't tell i'm using my BB?
This may seem odd, but I want to disable access to the internet on my Curve. I have a family pack w/ Sprint which includes Internet-- other members need it. My email & device is on BES for work due to need for work email. So...I've tried erasing the service book and browser push, but it still comes back. Any thoughts on how I can disable access without asking my IT folks who manage the BES or eliminating the Sprint Internet package for the rest of the people on my plan?
