BB Curve 8520/8530 :: Cannot Change From Hotspot Browser To Internet Browser
Apr 4, 2010
I recently unlocked my 8520 from t-mobile to at&t, i have the data plan with both providers. After i started using the 8520 on the at&t network i noticed that i cannot change my setting from hotspot browser to internet browser anymore which in turn i cannot use the data service with at&t that i am paying for. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.
I just got my Blackberry Curve two weeks ago and it the browser doesn't load pages. The bar at the bottom looks like it has reached 100% but it never shows the webpage. My friend downloaded Opera Mini and it works fine. My email also works fine. I wanted to download an app and it didn't work either because I think it was using the brower to open a webpage.
Basically ever since I updated my blackberry and I downloaded opera mini my browser isn't working. I click it multiple times and nothing happens I deleted opera mini off my phone hoping that my browser will work but still nothing.
My friend has the Curve 8530 on Verizon and OS 5.0.0.508. She has the data package, which Verizon requires, but does not have any data or e-mail accessability on her Curve. She has done battery pulls, resent routing tables, and gone in to the store. Each time she goes in they tell her it is a software issue and that there is not an update yet. Is anyone else having this issue? Are they just pulling her leg because they have no clue?
When I try to go to a website, it simply says "loading" but the page never actually shows up. What I've tried so far: Battery pull; minor browser configuration changes (like changing the recognition from BlackBerry to Firefox); checking for updates. Blackberry Curve 8530 v5.0.0.654.
I'm trying to access a site that requires Java to be installed in order to run an applet. I am not able to. Everything I have read states that Java is not supported on the Blackberry. Looking at the phone information it states that he device is Java Powered. Can anyone tell me if running java applets from the browser is possible on a Blackberry Curve 8530? If I can't run Java Applets, this device is useless to me.I already know this problem is not a result of not enabling JavaScript. The problem I'm having has nothing to do with JavaScript.
Over the past two days I have not been able to access my brower (8520 curve), can someone please explain why? I can enter a www address but it just reads "loading", the little black box in the top right corner flashes then stops, disappears and nothing else happens. I end up closing it the browser down.
I bought BB 8900 from T-Mobile without bb plan a few days ago. How can I get BlackBerry browser or Internet Browser, because my bb has only hotspot browser? Can I get them without bb plan?
changed to a contract curve 8520 all working okay on day 1, I had my old PAYG number ported onto this phone now my browser does not work, no email I think more . Customer care say its a problem on BB after number ported they are waiting for a fix can anyone help! if not phone going back
I have a Blackberry 8520, and every time I go and use the internet browser, it takes like 10 hours to load, and once it has loaded, the page is still blank! It's not a case of internet connection, because my apps work. So I don't know what to do, I've tried resetting, and it sometimes does the trick, but after a little it starts to not work anymore.
My 8520 browser has suddenly stopped loading Internet pages.
When ever I try and access the Internet or click a link, the Browser opens up says "requesting" and then "loading" - the Blue Bar starts to slowly load up at the bottom of the screen - and thats it, nothing else happensthe screen remains blank, the Blue bar loads up and ... nothing.
My Mobile plan allows me Internet 2G acess and I also have Wi-Fi - all of which has been working perfectly for 8 months until now.
Wi-Fi and 2G internet appears to work perfectly for my Twitter app and my Emails come thru fine too.
I recently installed Tank's Act 2 .497 Hybrid (which is awesome) on my 9550. Previously, I had only been running the stock OS 5.0.0.320 on my device. I actually searched quite a bit, but found no problems that were quite the same as what I'm experiencing. I had posted this same issue on page 17 of Tank's thread, but decided to start a new thread just to be able to reach more of the masses, as I'm not sure if this issue is specific to Tank's hybrid or not.
Everything works great, with one lone exception--I have my default browser set to "hotspot" as I always have, and previously (using .320) if I was in an area with no WIFI signal, the browser would just automatically switch over to the Internet browser and load my pages just fine. Now, however, if I have no WIFI signal, I get a "This is a WIFI service. Please ensure your device has an active WIFI connection and try again." message, forcing me to go into the browser settings and manually change the browser from "hotspot" to "Internet".Is this normal (for any OS version)? Is there some setting somewhere I'm missing? Seems to be a bit of a pain, just to take advantage of WIFI, to have to set this manually all the time.
*Also, as much as I appreciate the help, I'm not looking for "Use Opera Mini! It PWNS the BB Browser!!!1!". Yeah, I know there are other browsers out there, some with great features (and speeds), but I'm just trying to figure out this issue with the BB Browser.
OK I'm totally a newbie with BlackBerry and this is my second post on here.I live here in the US but I'm Brazilian and am going crazy over the world cup.I want really badly to stream live radio via the browser on BB but it won't work because it needs a Flash Plug In for one station and a Windows Media Player for another. Is there anyway that we can stream live video and radio outside Sprint TV?
the Hotspot Browser icon shows on the main menu but when I click on it nothing happens. If I select the Hotspot Browser icon and then press the Menu key, I get kicked into the main menu. Have searched far and wide for the answer to this problem, but no luck. Most posts complaining about the Hotspot Browser are about getting a connection to the Internet. I am not even that far -- the browser simply doesn't load.I have a BB email plan and wifi. The wifi works fine for email with the mobile network turned off, so I know that my Wifi settings are fine.
I have had the curve for a few weeks now. At first i changed the settings of the browser to "hotspot" so i could use it with wifi. It was working really well, then all of a sudden it stopped durin browsing. The phone says the wifi connection is fine, but whenever i go to the broswer and try to go to a website it just says loading at the bottom and nothing happens.
Can anyone help with this? should i restart the phone setting somehow because i might have done changed some setting during browsing without realising or is this an actual issue with the phone?
My husband got a curve 8530 the other day. All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing. The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile. Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
So I've had my phone for about a month now. When I first got it, I could browse the internet just fine. But slowly, over the past few weeks, I've suddenly not been able to click links on any webpages. I can type things in, like in a Google search, but then can't click the search button and nothing happens when I press the enter button on my keyboard either. I know this isn't specific to certain websites because it's happening on sites that worked fine before. I've tried changing my browser, none of them worked
I just switched from a Curve 8520 to a Curve 9300. My BlackBerry Messenger is working but the Browser & App World isn't. I'm not even receiving any emails. I wanted to ask if this problem is becuase I just switched my device.
I have the Blackberry Curve 8520 and free Internet with my network, but if I try to use the browser it loads a blank page no matter what site I try. Doesn't work over wi-fi either.pps I use over wi-fi still work though.
I have a 8520 curve. When I do a search on my browser, I get a message that it is not supported and the message suggests to use FIREFOX, which I believe cannot be used on a Blackberry.
I have a question about my Blackberry Curve 9300. I bought my Blackberry with OS 5 and I have updated it to OS 6. My question is: can I change the browser indentification in OS 6 to Firefox or Internet Explorer such as in OS 5? And is it possible to update my Blackberry Curve 9300 to OS 7?Best regards,Guido Seinen
