Feb 9, 2012I just updated my N8 from symbian anna to belle. Everything went ok. Now I'm trying to connect to my home wifi network which has WEB security. I can connect without a problem. I mean the phone says it's connected to the network. But when I try to access a website there is only the error page. And after a minute or so the wifi connection drops out by itself. I saved the network, and there's no other destination in the settings/destinations menu. the phone is not connecting to it by itself. Is there a way to go back to Anna?

Jun 11, 2010I bought a Nokia 5230 for my wife a few days ago (neither of us know a great deal about mobile phones) and whenever the phone is on, it seems to connect to the Internet, which uses up all our talk time (we don't yet have a contract with a phone company).We have tried all the settings to keep the Internet disconnected, but it still seems to be happening? This is really infuriating!

Jul 31, 2010I have a Nokia 5230 which I have updated the maps via Ovi suite on my PC,. However when I go to Ovi maps on my phone it always says connection failed, if I try to go to my location I get the red dot flashing searching for position then will go solid for a short while and start to flash again, it gives my location about 1 mile from where I am. Also from the OVI maps screen if I try to sign into my Nokia accost,(To get A-GPS I think) I get the message saying this requires you to go online, 'yes' brings up the connection failed message. I can browse the internet and go to face book etc.

Feb 21, 2010I've a Nokia 5230 since a week. I knew it has no wifi when I bought it. For some use, it would be nice to have wifi function (free hotspot without France per exemple), so I'm looking for solutions on Web. I've found an application "bluetooth-wlan-convert" (!!!) but I can't install it on my 5230 to test it (not compatible). I also have seen a microSD card with wlan function but it seems to work only on Windows CE or Linux based smartphones [URL]. If the price was acceptable, do you think if it could be use on Symbian based phones with an appropriate application ? Do you know other way for having wifi function on phone without wifi ?

Nov 19, 2011I've always connected my nokia xpress music to the internet. But one day it didn't work, I didn't touch nothing. When I connect to a wireless its says nothing and the icon shows that it is connected, but in Truth its connected to none. And when I try to reconnect it it says close the active connection and when I try to do that it says that I'm not connected. And when I do this after a minute or 2 my phone turns off!

Mar 26, 2010I often use wireless, but sometimes it has poor signal and is impossible to use so I also use simple mobile internet. Usually the phone using opera mini asks if you want to use mobile internet (not wireless) but now it almost never does, so I get the connection error message as there is no wireless, but I also cannot use my mobile internet. Just today it gave me problems because of that. So bassicly, I cannot use internet, unless I have good wireless signal. And I have mobile internet as priority number 1 in my settings. So is there something else to do? This problem is appearing and dissapearing. Thought could be from bad wireless, it kinda locks itself on it or something, but turning off the phone doesn't help.

Jul 16, 2012I got some data package and all set up went fine. Nokia store and web browser are connecting just fine as well as some apps such as "QuickBeer", "News", "NokiaGoal", "Maps and Drive". However other apps, which I like to check quite often, such as "Bloomberg" and "Allaboutsymbian" do not connect while mobile data is ON. (they do only in WiFi)
Regarding software settings:
WAP services is my default connection.
Allow mobile data usage: Home country
Admin settings --> Mobile data connection: when needed
High speed packet access: Enable.
So everything works just fine but the mentioned apps above.
And regarding phone and OS info: Nokia 700
Software version: 111.030.0609
Custom Version: 111.030.0609.596.02
Type: RM-670
Product code: 059L1G3 (giving this information 'cause am still waiting for FP1)

Jul 20, 2010my PC was able to connect to the internet with my 5800 via a USB cable.Now, I can no longer connect to the internet with the 5800 via a USB cable.I had never tried connecting the computer to the internet with the 5800 via Bluetooth prior to this incident, so I tried that.Strangely, it works.My question is how come I can no longer use the 5800 via USB as a modem, but how come the 5800 via Bluetooth still works as a working modem? I just feel better using the USB connection and knowing that my 5800 has a clean bill of health.BTW, my PC is on Windows 7 Professional at the moment.I've tried uninstalling the Ovi Suite and reinstalling it, but that didn't work.I've also tried using PC suite instead of the Ovi Suite but that didn't work either.What other options do I have, beside hard resetting the phone?BTW, the message shown when I tried to connect to the internet with the 5800 USB modem was "failed to establish a network connection".

Oct 23, 2011My N8 does not connect to websites via wifi, in general, 90 % of the times it does not open any web page, either with the default web browser or Opera. However, the phone connects to the wifi network, and Skype for instance always works via wifi, but normally, you cannot go to any webpage or use other programs needing the internet.Surprisingly,sometimes it does connect (10 % of attempts), while nothing was changed in the router or anything. It does happen with any wifi network.

Sep 7, 2012I've had the 808 since the initial release in India, i.e since August 13. Got it replaced once for the purple tint issue. Though the replacement set has some issues with touchscreen response, but I've learned to live with it. And everything else was working fine, till about a week ago.But now my 808 cannot connect to Wifi, randomly (quite often, actually). If I enable the wifi and go to the Wifi main page, I can see my home network being detected and shown as "Known". I tap on it to connect, it says "Connecting" for about a second or even less than that and then says "Known" again. I've tried tapping on it many times, but it just doesn't connect. Tried different connections of wifi, i.e. joikuspot from my N8, cannot even connect to that. Disabling and re-enabling the Wifi don't work either.
To make Wifi work again, I have to reboot the phone every time the problem arises. It's really annoying, since I use a lot a Wifi.Sincerely,SabbyjHit the kudos button if I was of any help to you. And don't forget to mark the solution if I get one.

Apr 27, 2012I have a Nokia 700. Upgraded to 112.010.1404 via Nokia Suite as soon as I got it. I have set my WiFi network as the highest priority. I can connect to my WiFi network, yet after a while of inactivity the phone starts using 3G data again. I go into the WiFi networks and see that my network is listed as "Known" but not "Connected". I have to manually select it to re-connect.Power saving mode for WiFi is set to off.Is there a setting to automatically connect to any known WiFi network when in range? I am happy to manage battery life by manually turning ove WiFi when not needed.

Jan 15, 2012While entering an SMS (text), when I reach a certain unknown number of written characters my N8 pops up message saying, 'Message type changed to multimedia msg.' There's-one-little-glitch: Where I live MMS service is - not - available! If I delete even one (1) character I get another pop up saying, 'Msg type changed to text msg.'
Nokia's solution: When the N8 tries to convert to mms go to Options > Sending Options > msg type > Text. Nokia's solution fails immediately after pressing 'Options' because there is NO 'Sending Options' option to select! How - can I disable/remove/get rid of this unwanted/forced MMS change over so I can write and send as many characters as I want/need in SMS (text).
