Nokia Nseries :: 5800 Cannot Connect To Internet
Mar 26, 2010
I often use wireless, but sometimes it has poor signal and is impossible to use so I also use simple mobile internet. Usually the phone using opera mini asks if you want to use mobile internet (not wireless) but now it almost never does, so I get the connection error message as there is no wireless, but I also cannot use my mobile internet. Just today it gave me problems because of that. So bassicly, I cannot use internet, unless I have good wireless signal. And I have mobile internet as priority number 1 in my settings. So is there something else to do? This problem is appearing and dissapearing. Thought could be from bad wireless, it kinda locks itself on it or something, but turning off the phone doesn't help.

my PC was able to connect to the internet with my 5800 via a USB cable.Now, I can no longer connect to the internet with the 5800 via a USB cable.I had never tried connecting the computer to the internet with the 5800 via Bluetooth prior to this incident, so I tried that.Strangely, it works.My question is how come I can no longer use the 5800 via USB as a modem, but how come the 5800 via Bluetooth still works as a working modem? I just feel better using the USB connection and knowing that my 5800 has a clean bill of health.BTW, my PC is on Windows 7 Professional at the moment.I've tried uninstalling the Ovi Suite and reinstalling it, but that didn't work.I've also tried using PC suite instead of the Ovi Suite but that didn't work either.What other options do I have, beside hard resetting the phone?BTW, the message shown when I tried to connect to the internet with the 5800 USB modem was "failed to establish a network connection".

For now I have walk around and enforce my phone to ask for password before each connection but it make using Nokia 5800 a little bit annoying. What is more I have checked task manger and I have no application there so it may be or MFC either some other nokia native application (but it is my supposed only).

I have an xpressmusic 5800 and have been using wireless through my home router (and others access points) with no problems for months. I cleared my page history a few days ago and since then (not sure if it related or not) I have been unable to connect to the internet either through my home router, a friends router or O2 active.
The phone crashed several times, shutting down and empyting the battery in the process, and after searching support forums I moved some files around to increase my phones memory space to 65MB. This appears to have stopped the crashing but I am still unable to connect. When I click on the internet symbol the screen goes black for up to 1 minute, then the connecting bar appears but nothing else happens, if left it just stays on that screen. I have my home router set as priority 1 in the connectivity > destinations list.
Mode = Infrastructure
Security = WPA/WPA2
Coverage = 1 access point
Speed = 54 Mbit/s

I have updated my Nokia 5800 and ever since when I try to go on the internet via Orange it won't let me. I can't even use or set up Wi-fi. When I go into settings and connectivity there is no option to select or search for WLAN. When I try to add new access point it tells me that my network destination needs to be set first.Any ideas what I need to do please?

Nokia have finally updated 5800 FW but i am unable to download it because the NSU isn't working correctly. Everytime I open the program I get the message; "Nokia Software Updater has attempted to connect to the internet but has failed three times. This could be because of a poor-quality, slow or intermittent internet connection, or restrictions due to a firewall.
If requested by your firewall, Nokia Software Updater needs the following applications to gain access to the internet:
nsl_host_process.exe
nsu_u_clienti.exe" The program will then close down.
I have a good, steady internet connection (10mb) and all firewalls are off.

I've always connected my nokia xpress music to the internet. But one day it didn't work, I didn't touch nothing. When I connect to a wireless its says nothing and the icon shows that it is connected, but in Truth its connected to none. And when I try to reconnect it it says close the active connection and when I try to do that it says that I'm not connected. And when I do this after a minute or 2 my phone turns off!

I got some data package and all set up went fine. Nokia store and web browser are connecting just fine as well as some apps such as "QuickBeer", "News", "NokiaGoal", "Maps and Drive". However other apps, which I like to check quite often, such as "Bloomberg" and "Allaboutsymbian" do not connect while mobile data is ON. (they do only in WiFi)
Regarding software settings:
WAP services is my default connection.
Allow mobile data usage: Home country
Admin settings --> Mobile data connection: when needed
High speed packet access: Enable.
So everything works just fine but the mentioned apps above.
And regarding phone and OS info: Nokia 700
Software version: 111.030.0609
Custom Version: 111.030.0609.596.02
Type: RM-670
Product code: 059L1G3 (giving this information 'cause am still waiting for FP1)
Running this little phone in US under ATT provider (pay as you go)

I just updated my N8 from symbian anna to belle. Everything went ok. Now I'm trying to connect to my home wifi network which has WEB security. I can connect without a problem. I mean the phone says it's connected to the network. But when I try to access a website there is only the error page. And after a minute or so the wifi connection drops out by itself. I saved the network, and there's no other destination in the settings/destinations menu. the phone is not connecting to it by itself. Is there a way to go back to Anna?

My phone will connect to my WLAN at home for no apparent reason (as in I'm not using the any application which requires interweb) and when I get annoyed and disconnect from that because it is just EATING my battery it think "Jesus there's no internet connection" panics then connects via gprs or whatever. Now I turned off the email program because it is eating my battery constantly being connected and am having to charge it every night! But is there any way of making it so that it only connects when the program is open? Any thoughts?

My recently performed a hard reset on my phone after trying to get the new Ovi maps loaded onto my phone. After successfully getting everything to work I noticed that my internet connection to Orange always switches on, even after going to connection manager and disabling it. I have tried everything I know but am unable to stop the phone doing this. It really drains the battery. Any help to understand why this is happening and a solution to stop it would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a used 5800, and yes, it is a old, 2,5 year old phone with latest software, works good. Only problem is that the vibration doesnt work. No matter is it on or off on profiles, it doesnt vibrate. And it doesnt vibrate even when i turn phone on, like my old 5230 did always vibrate when it boots up, my 5800 doesnt. What is wrong, why vibration doesnt work when someone calls or sends message, or not even vibrating in boot up, boots normally, no vibration.. Is the vibration function broken?
And my model is 5800d-1, is other models always too 5800d-1, or is my different and if yes, what is difference to other 5800's? This is a 2,5 year old Black and Red 5800. Using 52.0.007 firmware.
Phone: Nokia 5800 and HTC One VNokia 2610 --> N70 --> 3120 Classic --> X3 --> 5230 --> 5800 & HTC One V

Okay, I know what you're thinking...USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION! But I have and I have tried all the solutions I could find on google and here. I've tried turning it on with just the bat, bat/mem, bat/sim, etc charged my phone and what not and still nothing. It just won't turn on.I even tried hard resetting it but nothing works. When I press and hold the power button it just vibrates once and doesn't do anything. When I hook it up to the pc, it recognizes that there's a nokia phone there...I think...but it only does when you click and hold power and i vibrates.

My 5800XM has stopped connecting to the internet.If I go to, say the Ovi Store, I get the frot page, but instead of going to the Store, it returns to the previous screen. The same happens with other websites, too. The phone usually asks how I wish to connect - WAP, wireless network and so on, but it is no longer doing so. I do hope I have just inadvertently changed a setting or something, as I have just got my phone back from being repaired, which took nearly 3 weeks.

I have a 5800. Occasionally, or rather frequently some times, I get a popup asking for access to internet. However, there is no mention as to what program is requiring the access. Is there any way of knowing what program (when there's none presumably running in the background) is doing this?

I wonder if it's possible to share the existing internet connection on Nokia 5800 XM with the PC without internet connection?The setup is like this:
1. I have DSL Wi-Fi router in home
2. I have one computer which connects to DSL router using the USB Wi-Fi card - that's my primary internet computer
3. I use Nokia 5800 for wi-fi connection to router too
4. I have another PC which is audio DAW (digial audio workstation) and I don't want to dirt that one with any antivirus, antimalware software or any plug-ins required for using the internet.
Now, since there is a certain need to connect to internet with that DAW (mostly to utilize the web camera and make video calls without disturbing the rest of the family, since DAW is in the studio, a separate room), I wonder is it possible to use my Nokia 5800 in a way where I would just share it's internet connection with the DAW, so DAW would connect to internet with Nokia's connection? It isn't the same thing as using the smartphone as modem, it's an actual connection sharing, but I fail to find needed settings for such sharing on Nokia.I also wonder will the PC be at any risk at all since it would use internet connection of Symbian based system (the PC runs with WinXPSP2).
