I'm totally confused that my photon 4g does have native call app or not meaning like wise in samsung mobile it shows video call option whenever im calling to anyone but my photon doesnt showing any option lyk tht...Please Provide necessary details regarding native call app on my contacts how to enable it in my photon
I purchased the Photon recently because it stated that it supported SIP connectivity. Well it appears it doesn, but only over WIFI, unless you use Google talk.It appears that Sprint is attempting to keep users from using SIP over their data network, as everything that I have found indicated it is not possible as the feature in Android is disabled. I've seen where people have rooted other versions of Motorola Android devices to get around this, but have not seen if this is possible on the Photon.
It seems very near sited for this feature to be turned off.I get the minutes of use perspective for Spring, but fail to see how it supports the data network service they claim is entirely open - as obviously it is not. As companies chose to deploy Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) more and monre in Corporate America, it will only ensure they can't us Sprint, as the ability for their employes to support their open SIP network while off site will be limited to only when they are on a wifi network. And, as video become a bigger part of their business, having support on the data plan will become a bigger part of their business.
I'm unpleasantly surprised to discover that the Photon is not an approved device on the Skype android app and there is no way to change that on the Photon's settings. Is there a workaround or am I missing something?
Wife just got iPhone4s and wants to e-mail video she took to friends--it is about 5 minutes long and file is something like 350 MB (so I assume it is high def format). Anyhow, too long to e-mail so is there a simple way to compress (to maybe 384X286 for example) either within iPhone or using some free program she could use on her Vista laptop.
My phone only seems to show full screen video with the top of the video on the volume button sides and the bottom where the charger hooks in. Is this the norm? When I rotate to put the charger on top (aka, so I can charge the battery while doing something so battery draining), nothing happens, the video won't rotate. (This was flash emedded video on a web page.)
Is there any way to force the screen to allow for one to watch full-screen streaming video with the kickstand engaged and the power cord plugged in? I cannot get any of my usual streams (tennistv.com, sprinttv, many, many more) to rotate so that the power cord is at the top of the phone.
After most calls, my phone will either lock up or take on a mind of its own by going to other screens at random, dial another number, sometimes do a pulsation or gittering of the screen. Othertimes it will start putting continuous numbers in the number dial area like continuous 3s or 6s. To remedy this I have to shut off the phone and restart. If I wait a while it will also start working normal again. Sprint has reset my phone and it had no impact on it.
I have been getting error messages on my phone, first with mp3 and now with online videos, that the file type is not supported or cannot be played. Usually a reboot fixes it but not always. Not a consistent problem but once it starts it seems to happen a lot and then mysteriously stop. The second problem is my phone not ringing.Got yelled at for not answering the phone but it never rang. Shows missed calls but not making noise at all, even when I try to preview rings they won't play
I use my phone with a wired headset (no hang up botton on the headset). This also happens on speaker phone. If I'm on a conversation for several minutes and its time to hang up--I have to unlock and enter my password (required for corporate activesync) then push the end call button. This makes hanging up an awkward process--having to fumble around for several seconds while the other party gets to listen to you doing it. The lock doesn't happen all the time.
But one way for sure to recreate the behavior is to:
1. Set your screen timeout to 15 seconds.
2. Call the phone from another line. Answer phone and put it on speaker phone. Or use wired headset as I do.
3. Wait for screen timeout or just press power button while on the call. Now wake the phone up. The phone may or may not be locked now. But if you now press the Home softkey, the screen will certainly lock....while you are on a call! This means you know have to slide the lock and enter security code just to hang up on someone.
A better practice from a design stand point is that the phone should never lock while you are on a call. What purpose does it serve to lock while on a call? When it locks you can neither hang up, push dial tones, answer call waiting, etc. until you unlock it. This needs to be fixed.
I have had my Photon about 6 weeks and have been having issues where people can not call me they get message that phone is not available. Also when I am having those issues the phone will not dial anybody just stays on dialing screen and does not call. Also texts do not come through during that time.If I reboot then I can dial and receive calls for a half day or sometimes a whole day.My phone does get the random reboots started on day one and usually once or twice a day but NEVER has happened while I was actively using it.I have done factory reset. Pulled battery and replaced.
My phone was updated with the latest firware on the day I got it and I check for updates regularlyI do have an SD card in it that was new never in another phone that was formatted by this phone. I have tried using it without card and with card makes no difference.I have started rebooting every morning but I still miss calls. At first I had Google Voice on it, I thought that might be the problem I unloaded it unlinked my google voice account and then did factory reset but that has not helped.I do not tether or use the hotspot feature. I do connect using Wifi when I am at home for internet access.About the only thing I can tell is that it seems to lose phone access after a good amount of web surfing whether it is wifi or 3g. (I live several blocks outside of 4g cover
I don't know about that I mean because my phone always constantly beeps in unusual moments during phone calls.with or without blue tooth, alsop activated or not. this search for my problems the reason why I'm here is getting very saddening
Just received a call on my Photon. The phone was in sleep state. It did not provide any options for answering the incoming call although the ringtone was loud and clear. It was as though the ringtone went off on its own.
I used to love my Photon. Lately it just seems to be working worse and worse. My latest frustration is this:I make / initiate a call from my phone. I get the phone screen. In the corner its says "connected". I can't hear anything at all on the phone (BT or otherwise). So I hang up. I place the call again. I get the phone screen for a few seconds, again hearing nothing only this time it spontaneously reboots.his happens I would say once a day, and I don't really make all that many calls. I'm also getting other random reboots, but I've not found a pattern for those. They just happen here and there. I can't remember the last time I made it through a day w/o my phone rebooting itself.
Then there's my battery drain issues. Today I lost 30% in about 1.5hrs and I wasn't even using it much. I went to the battery usage screen I see this:As you can see... less than stellar performance, and what the heck is "Media"? And why does it appear to be using my battery so much? I actually had a pretty light day on my phone to this point in the day and my battery is just evaporating.I tapped the graph and see that this thing is "Awake" almost constantly. I seem to remember a time, before the "Media" thing was showing up, when my phone was only "Awake" here and there.
So, I took this screen shot (below) a minute ago (after it spontaneously rebooted while I tried to call my wife). I tapped the "Media" item on the list and it shows a bunch of items. I frankly don't know what any of this means. I did some research on-line and there are endless threads about this "Media" problem, and much of it does not lead to a successful conclusion. I have to say, this Android phone thing is not impressing me so far. I've been a "techie" guy since the DOS days, but this just feels not-ready-for-primetime. I really don't want to have to reset my phone and re-load all my apps, and reset all my accounts, etc... Frankly I shouldn't have to. I'm just frustrated I guess. I don't know if I have a hardware phone issue, a hardware battery issue, a software issue, some crazy app causing problems
Recently known callers, those that are listed in my contacts, are identified as "unknown" caller. To receive the call I need to press 1 on the keypad.Do not know how this was enabled, but need help to disable this.
I am three days new to my photon but, I am having one major problem so far. I am on a call and another call comes in, I switch to the new call.... talk for a second and switch back to the first call. I then see that the second call has not hung up from my phone so I switch back and press end call. Both calls hung up! How do I hang up the second caller without getting rid of both callers?
I have been through the factory reset process with sprint customer support for the issue of phone losing contact with voicemail, missing calls and forwarding messages only after a manual reboot.
I noticed this recently: I have bluetooth enabled, but not connected to any devices. I initiate a phone call, and once on the call, I try to switch to an already paired but not connected bluetooth device. As soon as I select the device in the bluetooth settings screen, the phone reboots itself. Reproducible 100% of the time. Anyway else notice this? The work around is to start with the bluetooth device already connected before the call. I am paired with a Logitech H800.
With my new Photon, I am having some issues where a call will come in and have very bad crackling audio. If I hang up and call them right back, it is crystal clear. It's happened to me three or four times in two days. Do you think it's a defective unit?
I am listening to music, no matter which app, and if i get a call after I hang up my speaker phone turns on and plays the music as well as the headphones or speaker I have plugged in. I use Pandora, internal music player or power amp. The only way for it to stop is by restarting completely.
I have an issue with my Motorola photon 4g since I bought it (2 months old now). It may reboots when I am trying to make a phone call. It happens everyday randomly and it is getting worse. If one day I need to make an emergency, I may need to wait a few minutes for it to boot up (lol) before I can use it. I have used Palm treo phone for many year and never have any problem. I went to sprint service center and the sprint technician reset it but it still has the same problem. I will come back to Sprint again for service. FYI, I will update this post soon I have more info.
When leaving a voicemail for someone, often times they call right back while I am leaving the voicemail. I curently only get the option to answer the incoming call or ignore it. Is there a way to disconnect from the first call and answer the incoming call? Right now I have to "ignore" the incoming call, then "end call" that I am on and then call the person back again -or- "answer" the incoming call and leave the voicemail hanging. Seems there would be an option to end current call and then (or in the same action) answer the incoming call.
I found another bug that is recreatable. If you are in the middle of sending a text message and using the voice input and talking to the voice input when a call comes in, the voice input is abandoned, the "answer/ignore" screen shows for a second. But before you can answer, the keyboard comes back up and covers it up, so you can't answer the call. And then the keyboard is stuck on the screen. "back" doesn't make it go away (so you still can't answer the call). Even if you go to the home screen, the keyboard is still on the screen. Stock phone, not rooted, all updates applied, etc.
I'm having several issues with my Motorola Photon 4G. The first problem and must frustrating problem is that from time to time my phone will reboot when a call ends (either a drop call or hang up). I've tried removing the SD card and turning off HAC but none of these suggestions resolve my problem. The second issue is that from time to time my phone will not ring even if I have full service. I have several Sprint phones (Epic 4G, iPhone, Transform) and if I leave them all on the same table in my home can call them from my house phone they all ring when I call them.
When I call my Photon it will only ring 3 out of 5 times. On my house phone the call does not go direct to voicemail. At my house all the phone signal strengths are maxed out. The third issue is that if I turn on the speaker phone my call gets very staticy. The only way for me to fix this issue is to hang up and all the party again (simply turning off the speaker phone does not resolve the problem). This problem happens 100% of the time.
