Motorola Photon 4G :: Reboots After Call Ends / Will Not Ring And Static On Speaker
Mar 2, 2012
I'm having several issues with my Motorola Photon 4G. The first problem and must frustrating problem is that from time to time my phone will reboot when a call ends (either a drop call or hang up). I've tried removing the SD card and turning off HAC but none of these suggestions resolve my problem. The second issue is that from time to time my phone will not ring even if I have full service. I have several Sprint phones (Epic 4G, iPhone, Transform) and if I leave them all on the same table in my home can call them from my house phone they all ring when I call them.
When I call my Photon it will only ring 3 out of 5 times. On my house phone the call does not go direct to voicemail. At my house all the phone signal strengths are maxed out. The third issue is that if I turn on the speaker phone my call gets very staticy. The only way for me to fix this issue is to hang up and all the party again (simply turning off the speaker phone does not resolve the problem). This problem happens 100% of the time.
I have been through the factory reset process with sprint customer support for the issue of phone losing contact with voicemail, missing calls and forwarding messages only after a manual reboot.
I am listening to music, no matter which app, and if i get a call after I hang up my speaker phone turns on and plays the music as well as the headphones or speaker I have plugged in. I use Pandora, internal music player or power amp. The only way for it to stop is by restarting completely.
I have a Sprint Motorola Photon 4G and I am using it in Brazil with a Claro SIM Card. The phone reboots itself sometimes when I try to make or receive a phone call (2 or 3 times a day). I know this is happening to other Photon owners and I already tried the factory reset twice. My build # is 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_6. Does anyone know a fix for that?
I'm looking for an app that will turn the screen on automatically when there are notifications. The main reason is I want this is to confirm that a call has ended. When I'm using my bluetooth headset and hit the end button, I have no visual confirmation from my phone that the call has indeed ended. With the majority of the other phones I've owned, the screen will come on and a notification will pop up for certain things (call ending, incoming texts, bluetooth connected/disconnected, wifi available, etc). But on Android I can't find a way to do this.
Most of the time when a call ends and I'm using my H17text headset the damn music player, or whatever media app was last used, will start playing EVEN THOUGH it was not running before the call. That would not be so bad but when you have a phone that's set to lock you have to unlock it and find the damn app that's running to get it to stop. This is just plain STUPID!
I've seen this posted all over the place so Motorola my phone when we know it's a ANDROID bug. What I want to know is how to get it to STOP! I'd rather have to manually restart the damn media app after a call that to have it always start with out me wanting it!
I am using an iPhone 6 Plus (magnificent device) and a Sony MDR-10RBT headset (another killer). But when an incoming call comes, why does not the phone ring? i can hear only from the bluetooth headset speaker. When I was using this very headset with my earlier phone the iPhone 4S, I could hear the incoming call on both the phone ringer and the headset.
I just bought the HX550 and have been using it on my X2. I really like the bluetooth. Probably the best one I have ever used, and I have used many. I found one glitch with my using it with my X2. After I end a call, the musical player starts automatically. And only when I use the HX550. Has never happened with any other bluetooth. I tried it with MotoSpeak installed and removed. Makes no difference.
When placing a phone call the Droid Pro seems to dial the number then as connection is being made it automatically ends the call. Then it automatically redials the number and it connects properly. This was acceptable until I tried to use the blue tooth connection in my car. How do I fix this?
I purchased my Photon used from a reliable source. I've had it less than a week and it was working fine previously, but last night it somehow died (even though the battery was almost completely charged that morning) and I've had problems charging it. I have it hooked up to my computer via the original USB charger but it won't charge. The charging/notification light turns white, then green, then it starts up. It takes me to the lock screen and says "Charging 5%", then it turns off and repeats this process. I have the correct drivers installed on my computer.I'm not a really big tech-geek
I bought my Sprint Photon 4g the first day it was available at Sprint. I have brought it back and they exchanged it three times in less than 15 days. I always am pleged with the same problem. The phone more than occasionly reboots when I make a call. Also when I use the speaker option the sound is like a broken speaker. Some times when placing a call the call does not connect and the phone hangs and I have to reboot it manually. On all three phones I have had the exact same issue. I did the update tonight so I don't know it that will correct the problem.
Any ideas why my phone would stop ringing when calls come in? And yes... it is not on silent. Even when I go to the ring tones and try to change to another, standard ring tone, it won't play the sound. It will make a noise when I turn the volume up and down. I turned it off and back on and it will now ring. Worried that this is going to be a routine problem. I have noticed that I've had some missed calls that I thought were odd because the phone was nearby, but didn't think much of it before. Today I was expecting a call at 1:30 so I had the phone sitting right next to my keyboard at work with the volume on. I looked down and there was my missed call. I then started calling it from my desk phone and it did not ring. When it was in silent mode it vibrated like it should so I turn the phone to always vibrate to make sure I didn't miss the call when it came in again.
If I want to make the Z5 a call and dial the number and pick up the phone, the screen goes black and I can do nothing more. It then responds to anything, not even on the Power button until the other ends the call. Then, the screen lights up again and it goes back all normal.
At random my Photon will not receive incoming phone calls. For instance, today this happened twice and the calls went directly to voicemail. Both calls came from other cell phones. This has happened a few times before while at work. I've had this phone for about 10 days now. System version 45.2.7, Android version 2.3.4, Build number 4.5.1A-1SUN-154_6.PDATE: 10-02-11: Again, phone would answer calls today at work. After 2 rings would go to voicemail. I have tried removing the battery and restarting but not luck
I like this feature especially when driving, however, could it be modified to first wake the screen if it's blank then wait for a second press to end the call? If a notification appears during a call, there's no way to see it without hanging up on the caller.
Occurred 3rd time in last 2 months(well spread incidents) - Photon just starts rebooting continously on its own (shuts down - loads back to the startup screens - connects to sprint - shuts down again..... loop continues non stop). During the restarts if it is un-noticed for a while the phone gets very hot. The only way to stop is to pull the battery out, after which it starts fine. Not sure what the issue is. Any thoughts? Would not prefer to do a factory reset as there is no observed pattern, all three incidents were when phone was not being used and was in the pocket. No extra apps are running generally whenever I check through the task manager - I cannot check while the phone is rebooting though.
For the last week or so I've noticed, much to my embarassment, that sometimes the speaker is playing whatever music I'm listening to with my headphones plugged in. This is really frustrating in cubeland, as I hate to be a noisy neighbor, especially when it comes to sharing music. The fix is relatively simple, but temporary and annoying: restart the phone. This has happened every day I've used my headphones at work for the last week or two, and I'm getting tired of it.
So, my question to everyone is: Has this happened to you, and do you know if this is a software or hardware issue? Should I get this thing swapped out under warranty, or should I just wait for the next software update?
my nokia e71x recently started giving me a very static-y signal when making or receiving calls. my voice apparently sounds fine to whoever i'm talking to but what i hear in the earpiece is full of static, as if the signal is very weak. this is happening no matter where i am (even in places where i know the signal is strong). i'm in new york city. the speaker appears to be ok when doing other things, e.g. watching video clips on Internet. it's just phone calls that sound **bleep**.this just started in the last few days. it's possible the phone was exposed to heat, sand and (maybe) water as we were recently on vacation, but other than the bad sound everything works and looks fine.my contract is about up so i may just replace it anyway, but i'd like to know if this is fixable. i tried removing the battery and sim card, making sure all were clean and dry and putting them back.
Yesterday my sound on my Photon became distorted to the point of sounding like a distorted buzz. This includes system sounds and anything else that plays even when I pull out the battery and then boot into safe mode. I thought it may have been due to a bug in an update, but everything is up to date and I don't see any other complaints on this or any other forums. Oddly enough, everything sounds fine using headphones. Maybe it is a speaker/hardware failure, but that would seem very unusual. Everything else seems to be working OK.
For the record, here are the software versions running currently: Android 2.3.4 Kernel 2.6.32.9
It seems that after one of the updates, the max speaker phone volume is much lower than before. I liked being able to turn it up, especially in the car dock.
When I'm on a call and lock the screen, the call ends. This is not the case when on speaker or using ear buds. I do know a workaround to lock it by pressing the home button.
My X10 randomly ends calls?! It is rediculously annoying as I had a call this afternoon that laster about 20 mins and the phone decided to end the call almost every 2-3 mins. I have held it away from may face incase the prox sensor wasnt working and my face was touching it but that didnt change anything..
I've recently got a HTC 601 which I'm pretty happy with so far except for the following issue.
I have noticed on multiple occasions that when on long calls the call gets hung up. I'm not certain, but I'm fairly sure that this is because the phone is picking up a 'touch' from the side of my face and processing it as a press of the end call button. As far as I can tell the screen is off when this happens - but it is still registering the touch rather than ignoring it. On one occasion the call was put on to speaker-phone - which made me pretty sure the problem is related the the phone registering touches when it shouldn't be (opposed to the call dropping out due to network or similar issues).
This has happened since I first had the phone (I got it about 2 weeks ago) and I have not rooted the phone or anything like that. Are they any settings I can change that would relate to this? My wife got the same phone at the same time but hasn't had any issues.
Former Samsung Note user. Not sure if this is a Samsung or Android feature but when I finish a call, the Note made a short and quiet chime. This is useful because I can tell that a call did in fact end as opposed to it still going on when I thought I had ended the call and the person on the other being able to hear what's going on until I find out.
I've only had it a couple of weeks and it has now started turning itself off during calls. So far this hasn't happened at any other time, only during calls.
I have this constant rebooting problem with the Atrix: If I accept a call while being charged, the phone reboots. The battery used to last me about 8 hours initially but now it lasts about 4 hours (not talk time, stand by, with a small amount of browsing and calls), so I keep it charging at work and also when I get back home. When I get a call and I accept it while being charged, Atrix reboots.Less frequently, if it doesn't reboot when I accept the call, and I disconnect the charged while being on the call, it reboots.
Non rooted n5... Notifications are sometimes muted while on calls... However, they become and remain muted when call ends until reboot? Where can I change this setting? running 4.4.4 and google fu is failing me for a fix for this issue.
