I have multiple times a day complete crashes requiring manual reboots on my 950 XL. I tried a full reset without using a backup and that mildly worked. I was now trying to use the Windows Device Recovery Tool 3.1.4. It recognizes the phone but says "Package not available for this device." I got it from microsoft's website and it has firmware version.
View 2 RepliesAfter setting up my Lumia 950 XL I decided to reset it. Apparently when I added my work account, the settings mandated BitLocker be turned on. So now when I try to start the phone it goes to a BitLocker screen and won't go past. I saw online that I should be able to use the Windows Device Recovery Tool to fix this but I get a message saying the package isn't available yet for it.

The tool fails downloading the firmware file (.ffu) due to checksum error. It will retry and get stuck again at 100%.

I'm on the latest W10 TP, and want to go back to 8.1. Will using the recovery tool erase all my photos from the SD card? I have almost 30gb of photos and when I try to back them up to my PC (via copy paste) it never works. It just freezes up.
edit: my photos are now copying over to my PC. I guess it just took a while calculating all that data? I'd still like to know if the recovery tool erases the SD card though.
like my title states how would I install denim using the recovery tool? I tried looking on here for a step by step and I'm surprised there is no manual or instructions on how to do this.. is it difficult? is it as easy as pressing a button and let it do it's thing? I would need the HK variant of Denim.

This is strange. I'm running the latest Technical Preview of W10M on my Lumia 1520, and have decided I want to revert to WP8.1.
I believe the way to do this is to use the Windows Device Recovery Tool, currently at V3.1.5.
The WDRT installs just fine. When I run it and plug in my phone, it correctly identifies it as a Lumia 1520, and my phone correctly asks permission to let its USB port be used (which I OK, of course).
WDRT says "Please select device to continue" and I click on the picture of the Lumia 1520. At that point it goes to the "Reading device information" page and just sits there forever, showing the spinning circle and "Please wait".
I've problem after downgrading my lumia 1320 from wp 8.1 dp to wp.8.0
The downgrade went successfully but Nokia Software Recovery tool doesn't read my phone anymore... I am running windows 8.1 as in the picture ....
I tried resetting my phone back to 8.0 so I could have the Cyan firmware installed on my 1020 along with 8.1 Update 1, however the program won't recognise the device:
The Software Updater for Retail says the exact same thing too.
How to rectify this? Or if not, any ETA on when the Cyan update can be expected to be available for Dev Preview users? I have a 930 as my daily driver now but, as an amateur photographer and filmmaker the 1020 is still a highly useful device for me.
My phone is a Nokia 1020. I installed the Windows 10 preview. I found that the camera didn't work properly so I used the recovery tool to revert back to Windows 8.1. Now my phone thinks it is a Nokia 909 instead of a 1020.

First off, the app is awesome and if you don't currently use it, I'd highly recommend it.
ONLY problem is those "dummy files".
Every Youtube video I see on it instructs you to go to the "Music + Videos" icon, select "music", then while under "artists" you hit the # so you can bring up the alphabet of artists, from here you select the globe on the bottom right of the screen. Doing this then bring up the MPA tool dummy "artist" and you are under the "albums". Swipe left to go to songs. Hit the select icon on the bottom row so now you can easily "select all" and then delete them all at once.
Well, this is interesting. New phone out and no recovery available, despite Windows Device Recovery Tool detecting the 950, there is no recovery available.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having some major battery draining issues since patching to Android 2.1, which I have noticed many other users were experiencing too. I found, in another thread, that using the repair tool may solve the problem (it had worked for other users), so I figured I would try it. Unfortunately, the repair tool goes through a preparation process, and then fails. It says "the update of software has failed. Please consult a technician". And yes, I have mounted my phone properly before running the process - I am not technologically challenged.
What I would like to know is how can I correct this problem, if any others had experienced the same issue, and how they worked around it. I would prefer NOT to read all the the responses from people that have nothing better to do with their time than write hate-mail about this phone, and how you are going to go demand a refund.I just want to fix it so that my battery works for a couple/few days again, and I can run the repair tool to get my phone back to normal.
I am trying to transfer my music from my HTC One M7 to my new HTC One M8. I have installed the HTC transfer tool and i keep getting and message that says an error occured, WIFI connection failed. It will start to download approximatly 20 songs then it stops and this message pops up.

There could be various reasons for not detecting phone but there should be some solution.For any issue most of the time final conclusion is re-install. If a software required frequent "Re-install" then it is not at all good software.
Also when installing pc companion MBs of data gets installed. But when it come for use it simply doesn't work for a smart phone for updates and all.looking for an alternative or some mechanism that can avoid PC companion for install and upgrade.Intall/upgarde software for android is as good as any OS install then some alternatives should be there if sonys own software doesn't work.I have seen to remove microsd card before update software. This means pc companion have some problem if sd card is present in phone. this could be because of size of memory card.I this case for 2012 line up mobiles, there are internal memory itself is 16gb or more. Then I am sure people will face problem and it will not get rectified as they cannot remove internal storage while updating or installing software.Also there are 2 softwares update service and pc companion. The keyboard comes up, and when I hit bottom-row keys often times my finger will either hit, or register as hitting, the Start Bar. Mid-sentence I often find myself looking at my Home screen, or I'm suddenly in another app.
Is there a setting somewhere such that when the keyboar pops up it will cover the Start Bar? I just got my Xoom and love it apart from this.
