my BB Tour stopped recognizing the contact alerts I set up. Verizon the cell carrier wasn't any help. I have deleted and reset. Shutdown the phone including disconnecting the battery-nothing helps. Does anyone know how to fix? Phone is a week old-New.
View 7 RepliesI have a BB Tour 9630 with the latest OS installed and 81.1 MB of application memory. The custom ring tones I've set under "Contact Alerts > Phone" work. However, the custom alerts for "Contact Alerts > Messages" don't. I'm supposed to get a sound plus a vibration for certain contacts when in "Phone Only" profile. This doesn't happen.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo, I've had my Tour for around 8 to 9 months now. its worked pretty well overall. I put it in a Seidio innocase right when I got it and got the matching dock so I can charge it in the case.About 2 weeks ago, it just wouldn't charge on the dock anymore. I can plug it in, and it charges fine.Noone else I know has a Tour so I can't see if theirs will charge on my dock. I can only say that the dock hasn't left my end table in months, hasn't been dropped, and likely isn't the issue.Has anyone else had this happen on the Tour?I'm less than 1 yr with the Tour, but I've NEVER bought the insurance through Verizon. Do, I have ANY recourse here?I believe the last time I investigated the coverage, I understood that there was nearly no reason to have insurance becasue the phone has a year warranty from the manuf, but I must go through Verizon to do anything.I wanna have my ducks in a row before going forward.I also bought the phone on my Amex bluecash which extends my warranties up to an additional year, so if I can find documentation that the phone has a year warranty with RIM, then in another couple months I can make a claim on my AMEX, of course they would only cover what I paid for it which I believe was 100, or maybe 150 as far my card charges show.Not sure which way to go with this.If there is something I can take apart and fix inside, I'm not against attempting that but I dunno what it could be.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just recently updated my BB Tour to 5.0.After doing the install i plugged in my BB to my USB.BBSAK recognizes it and so does DM But when i click on Start and My Computer the BB isn't recognized in the J drive (Running Windows XP)I installed my mp3 to make sure that the USB port was good.The PC recognized my mp3 Player (so no issues there)I then moved the BB to another USB and i'm still getting the same results Also before i did the update my PC was recognizing My BB in the J Drive.It's only after the update to 5.0 am i having these problems .I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just one SMS sound and one MMS sound so I know if I'm getting just a plain text or a picure or video message. Just one person in my contacts list...when they were texting me the alert sound is different than the one I have set for my phone but I never went into that contact and changed it so I don't even know how that happened and I don't know how to change it to just match my standard SMS sound. Hopefully this makes sense I'm trying to explain it without sounding too confusing.

Whether it's with the home charger the phone came with or a car charger (from Verizon), the majority of the time, I do not hear the alert when a message comes in. This has happened to me with all of my Tours (on my 3rd replacement). I do not have any custom ring tones/alerts. All the alerts I use are the ones that come with the phone. I don't have any 3rd party apps which would affect the tones. Does anyone else experience or hear of this? If so is there a fix to this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my tour this week, and haven't been able to figure out how to just have vibration when I get emails without the ringtone or chime following after.And I'm talking about when the profile is not on Vibration. I just want the email notifications to be on vibrations when the profile is on active or loud or medium. I didn't have an issue with the Curve in doing this.What am I doing wrong?
I click Sounds Scroll down to ring tones/alerts click ringtones/alerts click messages.Then click the email I want to change the settings to and then I have the following settings:
Ring Tone: BBpro_Sanguine
volume:silent.
led: on
vibration: on
notify me during calls: NO
I just used my upgrade on the verizon blackberry tour 9630, I'm a big texter and absolutely LOVED my env2! Any helpful hints? Advice to a new user? I actually will not get my phone till next week.

When I woke up, it was completely dead!No usb cord I have works to charge it, there is no red led lit up when I insert the battery. just nothing. It doesn't connect to the computer, jl_cmder wont connect, and app load wont connect using the trick if jl_cmder doesn't work.I got it first when it came out, or just a few days after, and it was fine. One night I dropped it and some water got in and set off the water sticker inside, but like I said it worked fine nothing happened to it. On the battery, the white sticker with the red line is completely faded to almost just a white sticker?? Is this sticker a heat sensitive one?

View 13 Replies View Relatedi just noticed that my phone isn't ringing anymore. only vibrating. after checking it i realized that all of my sounds have stopped working including ringer,alerts,notifications,speakerphone, video sounds, etc.i'm using a 9630 tour running v.5.0.0.591 on vzw. i've searched the forums but haven't had any luck finding the issue unless it is a 5.0 os issue. i updated to 5.0 when vzw pushed it a few weeks ago and the sounds were still working afterward. the last time i can remember hearing sounds was on sunday when i was watching a Internet vid.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to OS 5 on the Tour and noticed the whole messaging functionality has changed a lot. With the old OS I could select an email and choose to forward. Then in the To: field I could start typing a contact's name from the address book and it would autocomplete the user and let me choose the address I wanted. Now with OS 5.0 when i type in the contact's name nothing happens. And there is no option to select from a contact list. What am I missing? It shouldn't be this hard to send messages with the new OS, right?

I'm on a amtrak and won't be home until at least 10 am and it will be too late. My bbm works, my internet works even text but this damn email is acting up.If anyone knows how to fix this pls share the word, I'm in a jam.I have a sprint tour btw, I just spent 2 hrs typing this doc and can't even email it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedBlackberry Tour keeps giving me error that password for my email is wrong I'm having the problem now with my hotmail email on my BB since yesterday. I've tried to remove my battery, I've entered it like 30 +times, I even deleted the email from my phone. Now I can't add it back, it keeps saying that it's an invalid password and it can't validate, and to contact hotmail.com. I even changed my password on hotmail.com, I just logged into my hotmail on the actual computer with the correct same password, the same one that my BB won't take. When I put in my password on the email setup page it says, "Processing, please wait..." Then I get this error, "Invalid email address or password. Verify your email address and password. If the error persist, contact hotmail.com. " I have other email accounts on my phone that are working just fine.

When I am at the "New Group" screen, and it asks me to "Add a Member," I click the trackball and it brings me to my contact list. Then, whether I click the trackball or the menu button on the contact, I seem unable to add a member.
I found one issue that seems to be very irritating with my BB which other phones have done fine in the past and I cant figure out how to on my Tour. My brother texted me with a new phone number he is now using so I hit options in the test message and then the only thing is "add to contacts" so I choose that but it is a brand new contact.Why cant I choose to update a contact?

I rolled down to cancel, but after I clicked it jumped back up to delete and removed my contact. Currently, I do not have a back up of my database as it has been a bit more difficult than with my last phone and computer. Let's face it.... I've been procrastinating in tacking the project!
Does anyone know if it is possible to retrieve this contact? I figure the info still has to be somewhere on the phone..
I am running v5.0.0.419 on Verizon. Never had any issues until this weekend when I can suddenly not connect to any web pages. I always get the "HTTP Error 400: Bad Request" dialog. And under the details "Connection refused". Not sure what to try other than several battery pulls, etc. Again, never had any issues until a few days ago havent loaded any new apps, etc.

Some of the contacts are just copies and some have a facebook name on it. I have tried deleting and reinstalling facebook but the issue is still there. My question is: is there I way I can quickly delete all this duplicate contacts without doing it one by one?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is a way on the 9630 to make one phone number of multiple numbers under one contact be the priority?A lot of times I type in the first couple of letters to get the contact and hit send to call them and then I get asked always what number to call on that contact. Starting to get a little old.I would like to make the personal mobile number the priority instead of being asked all the time or at least put in on the top of the list.I also notice on the 8530 for text messaging they have different colored backgrounds for the incoming and outgoing texts. Is there a option on our phones so they can do that too?

My BB shows every text thats been sent. Im wanting to compress all these texts into individual lines per contact. For instance if someone sends me 10 texts, it shows them all instead of 1 line for that particular contact.

When I ran email set up with my gmail account i didn't notice that i checked the contacts box and it deleted all 300 of the contacts I had changed over and left only 20 or so (who i imagine are from my gmail account). I deleted the gmail account from my phone, is there a way to delete the gmail list from my contact list? I go to options and it's the only contact list in my phone and it doesn't give me an option to delete. I even tried re-adding the gmail account to my phone and unchecking the contact list button--to no avail.
