I have a BB Tour 9630 with the latest OS installed and 81.1 MB of application memory. The custom ring tones I've set under "Contact Alerts > Phone" work. However, the custom alerts for "Contact Alerts > Messages" don't. I'm supposed to get a sound plus a vibration for certain contacts when in "Phone Only" profile. This doesn't happen.
View 8 Repliesmy BB Tour stopped recognizing the contact alerts I set up. Verizon the cell carrier wasn't any help. I have deleted and reset. Shutdown the phone including disconnecting the battery-nothing helps. Does anyone know how to fix? Phone is a week old-New.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI noticed that there are times I do not get an audible when the phone is charging. Whether it's with the home charger the phone came with or a car charger (from Verizon), the majority of the time, I do not hear the alert when a message comes in. This has happened to me with all of my Tours (on my 3rd replacement). I do not have any custom ring tones/alerts. All the alerts I use are the ones that come with the phone. I don't have any 3rd party apps which would affect the tones. Does anyone else experience or hear of this? If so is there a fix to this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just one SMS sound and one MMS sound so I know if I'm getting just a plain text or a picure or video message. Just one person in my contacts list...when they were texting me the alert sound is different than the one I have set for my phone but I never went into that contact and changed it so I don't even know how that happened and I don't know how to change it to just match my standard SMS sound. Hopefully this makes sense I'm trying to explain it without sounding too confusing.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just got my tour this week, and haven't been able to figure out how to just have vibration when I get emails without the ringtone or chime following after.And I'm talking about when the profile is not on Vibration. I just want the email notifications to be on vibrations when the profile is on active or loud or medium. I didn't have an issue with the Curve in doing this.What am I doing wrong?
I click Sounds Scroll down to ring tones/alerts click ringtones/alerts click messages.Then click the email I want to change the settings to and then I have the following settings:
Ring Tone: BBpro_Sanguine
volume:silent.
led: on
vibration: on
notify me during calls: NO
I bought a unlocked sprint phone to work on my network (rogers) works fine, but when i go dial it shows the older persons number. I know i can turn this off to not show it but i want to change it. It can't be changed through general options. Im guessing its stored in the device with the last owners SPRINT CDMA settings. On a verizon i can do ##000000 but it doesn't work on sprint. Wipe security didn't erase it , Will JL_CMDER delete that??

The Tour that i have now does not have that option. Does anyone know if it exists due to an OS upgrade, or anyway else i can get sms to display in bubbles?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to OS 5 on the Tour and noticed the whole messaging functionality has changed a lot. With the old OS I could select an email and choose to forward. Then in the To: field I could start typing a contact's name from the address book and it would autocomplete the user and let me choose the address I wanted. Now with OS 5.0 when i type in the contact's name nothing happens. And there is no option to select from a contact list. What am I missing? It shouldn't be this hard to send messages with the new OS, right?

I get the same error message each time - 'Your device had a problem connecting to the server'.I am running 4.7.1.61 on an unlocked Tour 9630, using a SIM card for a local provider.I have restarted the device and re-registered new service books.I have run a diagnostic test - it shows all connections to BlackBerry services - registration, connected to BlackBerry and PIN-PIN 'abort' yet I receive email on the existing account and can send PIN messages, etc.

I treid to clear the BlackBerry contact database and resync, but again, everything resynced except the contact pictures.

When I am at the "New Group" screen, and it asks me to "Add a Member," I click the trackball and it brings me to my contact list. Then, whether I click the trackball or the menu button on the contact, I seem unable to add a member.
I found one issue that seems to be very irritating with my BB which other phones have done fine in the past and I cant figure out how to on my Tour. My brother texted me with a new phone number he is now using so I hit options in the test message and then the only thing is "add to contacts" so I choose that but it is a brand new contact.Why cant I choose to update a contact?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSomehow I lingered over the delete too long or something and the confirm came up for one of my contacts. I rolled down to cancel, but after I clicked it jumped back up to delete and removed my contact. Currently, I do not have a back up of my database as it has been a bit more difficult than with my last phone and computer. Let's face it.... I've been procrastinating in tacking the project!
Does anyone know if it is possible to retrieve this contact? I figure the info still has to be somewhere on the phone..
I don't know how it happened but when I was composing an SMS message I noticed that I have the same contact twice with the same numbers. Some of the contacts are just copies and some have a facebook name on it. I have tried deleting and reinstalling facebook but the issue is still there. My question is: is there I way I can quickly delete all this duplicate contacts without doing it one by one?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is a way on the 9630 to make one phone number of multiple numbers under one contact be the priority?A lot of times I type in the first couple of letters to get the contact and hit send to call them and then I get asked always what number to call on that contact. Starting to get a little old.I would like to make the personal mobile number the priority instead of being asked all the time or at least put in on the top of the list.I also notice on the 8530 for text messaging they have different colored backgrounds for the incoming and outgoing texts. Is there a option on our phones so they can do that too?

My BB shows every text thats been sent. Im wanting to compress all these texts into individual lines per contact. For instance if someone sends me 10 texts, it shows them all instead of 1 line for that particular contact.

When I ran email set up with my gmail account i didn't notice that i checked the contacts box and it deleted all 300 of the contacts I had changed over and left only 20 or so (who i imagine are from my gmail account). I deleted the gmail account from my phone, is there a way to delete the gmail list from my contact list? I go to options and it's the only contact list in my phone and it doesn't give me an option to delete. I even tried re-adding the gmail account to my phone and unchecking the contact list button--to no avail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI understand the steps to generate and auto signature - Go to email, click menu/options/email settings/auto signature ON, and type in your signature. However when I click on Email Settings there is no option for Auto Signature. The only options are:
Enable HTML email yes/no
Download Images Automatically yes/no
Confirm Delivery yes/no
Confirm Read yes/no
Send Read Receipts yes/no
There is no mention of auto signature.
I have set my default ring tone under the Sounds, media, options and even custom profiles, but my contacts all stay on the classic ringer unless I go into each one individually and edit them. Which is a HUGE pain in the arse! I just want all my contacts to follow the ring tone I set on the phone and they refuse to follow the default

Now when I dial a number from my contact list (even one in my own city and area code), my BB puts a +1 (country code for the usa) in front of the number.As I don't recall seeing this before, is this something new? Or do I have a setting wrong (which I'll discover on my bill in a few days).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Tour & did an OS upgrade through Wireless Update. I had 3 folders in Contacts(top of each contact had three different sync references). Looks like there is 2 of the folders and missing one. How can I set up Blackberry Desktop to sync with one of the missing folders and just get the contacts that that folder or "sync" description?I guess I need to know where and how to find the one folder as well.I do not know if folder is right term. On my contacts the top says "Synchronize Using: Unknown" or Synchronize Using: Desktop". I know there was a third and can not remember the heading.I just need those contacts in that sync.Hopefully I am communicating this correctly.
