BB Tour 9630 :: Ringtones / Alerts / Vibration Setting For Messages

I just got my tour this week, and haven't been able to figure out how to just have vibration when I get emails without the ringtone or chime following after.And I'm talking about when the profile is not on Vibration. I just want the email notifications to be on vibrations when the profile is on active or loud or medium. I didn't have an issue with the Curve in doing this.What am I doing wrong?
I click Sounds Scroll down to ring tones/alerts click ringtones/alerts click messages.Then click the email I want to change the settings to and then I have the following settings:
Ring Tone: BBpro_Sanguine
volume:silent.
led: on
vibration: on
notify me during calls: NO
my BB Tour stopped recognizing the contact alerts I set up. Verizon the cell carrier wasn't any help. I have deleted and reset. Shutdown the phone including disconnecting the battery-nothing helps. Does anyone know how to fix? Phone is a week old-New.
I have just one SMS sound and one MMS sound so I know if I'm getting just a plain text or a picure or video message. Just one person in my contacts list...when they were texting me the alert sound is different than the one I have set for my phone but I never went into that contact and changed it so I don't even know how that happened and I don't know how to change it to just match my standard SMS sound. Hopefully this makes sense I'm trying to explain it without sounding too confusing.
I noticed that there are times I do not get an audible when the phone is charging. Whether it's with the home charger the phone came with or a car charger (from Verizon), the majority of the time, I do not hear the alert when a message comes in. This has happened to me with all of my Tours (on my 3rd replacement). I do not have any custom ring tones/alerts. All the alerts I use are the ones that come with the phone. I don't have any 3rd party apps which would affect the tones. Does anyone else experience or hear of this? If so is there a fix to this?
I have a BB Tour 9630 with the latest OS installed and 81.1 MB of application memory. The custom ring tones I've set under "Contact Alerts > Phone" work. However, the custom alerts for "Contact Alerts > Messages" don't. I'm supposed to get a sound plus a vibration for certain contacts when in "Phone Only" profile. This doesn't happen.
I have ringtones assigned to different people in my contact list.Unfortunately, for one person, the ringtone I have assigned for him doesn't play. Instead, a wimpy US Cellular tone plays, which is very quiet and doesn't get my attention. I have tried over and over again to have a different ringtone play, and it shows it as being the assigned ringtone for calls from this person, but the wimpy US Celluar ringtone plays instead. How do I get the correct ring tone to play? I have this with other contacts as well.I also want the same ringtone to play when I get a text message, but a standard ringtone plays instead.
I've noted that after adding ringtones (all saved on my 8gb microSD card) it is super slow scrolling through them. It is most noticeable when trying to set a custom ring tone for contacts. Does anyone know why this is? Or has anyone else had this problem? It makes it take forever when trying to set those ringtones so that I know when certain people are calling. I have a Tour from Verizon.
I have not found in a search where this is covered, so here goes While plugged into my USB port my Tour defaults to the Ringer_ClassicPhone Ringtone. It sounds horrible. But while plugged into the USB, it can not access my ringtones on the mediacard, where all of my defaults for SMS, Phone, and Email are located. So, the question, is there a way to import external, i.e. .wav's or .mp3's on a media card, to the Tours onboard memory so that the device can access them even plugged in. Yea - I know - how long can a phone be plugged in and is this really an issue. Yes - it is - to me. On a busy day at work, I will often plug my phone into the USB at my PC to charge it some, especially if it is getting into the 50% range, and it is not noon yet.
I haven't set anything different for anyone, but yet I get different ringtones and text tones sometimes for different people, can i reset all tones, if so how?
I got my first BlackBerry a couple of months ago, the Tour 9630 with Verizon, which I've loved to far, except. Last week I created a couple of ring tones from two mp3 files and downloaded them in my BlackBerry without setting up with any feature, but they set themselves up as regular ring tones and I cannot stop them from playing now!
Since the day after I downloaded them, every time I've received a new e-mail, I've gotten my regular ring tone (GungHo) and then custom ring tone #1 starts playing and is unstoppable unless I completely turn off the BlackBerry! So I deleted it from the My Ring Tones folder, but that hasn't changed a thing. I've tried to change my regular e-mail ring tone and the change got implemented, so I get the new ring tone I've just set, but I still get custom ring tone # 1 right after! And it is almost 1 minute long!
Other weird thing, custom ring tone # 2 has started playing every time I hang up my phone! Who needs that?! I haven't deleted that one yet from the My Ring Tones folder because I'm not sure if that'll help, but this is extremely frustrating.
I'm syncing my bb tour with a mac. I originally synced it with my pc. I sync my music with the mac and after i eject and the media loads up again.. it still has the the same songs synced. I tried syncing only one playlist and it does the same thing.
So this all started about two weeks ago. Every time i get a mms message from someone i get it first about 5-10 min after they send it, then again about 1-3 hours after they sent it. Ive tried several battery pulls, with no luck. Im running 5.0.0.591 (I know it has problems, but I couldnt get the Sprint upgrade figured out )
I just got my BB lastnight I am just wondering can I have different ringers for different people and also a different ringer for my messages? I can not find out where to go to set it all up.
Im posting this for my friend who has a tour 9630 as shes having an issue that verizon cant seem to fix. maybe you guys can help her out"ok when i go in my verizon wireless tones and go to ringback tones, then go to manage my ringbacks and try to set a certain song for a certain caller the 0 works as a space. So i cannot use any phone numbers that have a zero in it. and if i make an error on someones name that im tying to put in i cant backspace the name to correct it i have to exit out of the whole program."
Okay folks the problem here is exactly what it sounds like: my BlackBerry Tour has a habit of playing my custom ring tones despite the fact I have the phones volume set to silent in the active profile.This is a behavior I have spent about two hours trying to correct and have been unable to discern a viable solution anywhere. I've got into the settings for the ring tones, theoretically they should be silent along with everything else but it doesn't matter, they continue to play. Normal ring tones do play silently, or rather those numbers to which I have not assigned a custom ring tone. Again this is a problem for me at work, so I'd really appreciate any guidance, it has been very difficult to find.
Why does my messages icon take me to a missed calls list and not my SMS messages? To get to SMS I have to "view folders". Please tell me there is a quicker way.
hello, I just upgraded my phone to the .732. Everything went smoothly during the upgrade, ever since then I have been having trouble with receiving text messages and MMS messages. I have gone to 3 sites for free ringtones have sent the ring tones to my phone, I have not received anything. I also have setup google voice and I am not getting any text messages from people tht text my google voice number.
I just got a new tour from verizon to replace my original tour that had trackball issues. I did the device switch with DM and everything seemed to copy over just fine with one exception. I keep getting new messages (both email and sms) and the top bar is showing that I have 6 new messages but they are not actually showing up in my messages.
I can see everything the group does but noone sees me.They were able to see my messages before I did a software upgrade to version 4.7.1.61. I've done a couple of battery pulls and they are not working.
I have an envelope that indicates I have two new messages but I do not. I verified all my message were read, non unread. I did a battery pull twice and it still will not go away.
I have my Tour set to delete messages after 15 days. I just noticed that they're not deleting. I've noticed that emails stick around for a month or so before being deleted, but SMS don't delete. It's been set to 15 days since I got it in September, and I still have every SMS sent/received on it
Is this a known bug? Is there a fix for it other than hope it's fixed in the next OS release?
I downloaded berrybuzz about a month ago and everything has been working great untill two days ago. Now the LED doesn't light up at all.I have tried battery pulls and that doesn't work. Any ideas. My next thing is to delete the app and redownload it.If someone else has an other idea that would be great.
I have recently been on the phone with sprint and i have not been able to receive any messages sms, mms, from att users everyone else is fine this seemed to happen after my number was ported over this week i am a new customer with sprint and the number i had ported over was used from boost that i was running my 8350i with my att friends and family can get my messages but i cannot get theirs anybody else having this problem the advanced tech support for bb at sprint did a master reset and gave me some ## number to enter and th press the call button and had me re-enter two number one being mine and the other with the network this still did not resolve anything i still can not receive any messages and my case is pending wondering if anybody can let me know what might be causing this my phone is only like a week old
I searched other topics and clicked the "similar threads" crackberry offered but couldn't find anything that addressed this. I'm running OS 5 (.419, though I have a friend with me who is running the latest Verizon official and duplicates the same annoyance).
When I receive an SMS text message, the LED blinks as it should. But when I open it, it will continue to blink until I either respond or back out of the message. It's a minor annoyance I know, but does anyone have a fix for this?
is there any possible way to set or add an app so that my bb tour can send sms messages over 160 characters? i have heard it should let you as long as you send to people that have the same verizon carrier as you but it will not work for me?
