BB Torch :: "the Media Being Played Is Of An Unsupported Format"

Feb 14, 2012

.wav files that come as attachments to an email from our office voicemail system won't play. On device, it says" the media being played is of an unsupported format" The files will actually play the first time the email arrives if you chose the preview option. But subsequent attempts to play the file, or if you choose download and save them, they then can not be played. I confimed that these files can be played on a computer, and my Torch can play other .wav files.

I've tried having the files sent to all of the different types of email accounts that I have on my Torch(both Enterprise and Internet), and they won't play from any of them. So it seems that something happens to the file once it's received and stored. If I forward the email with the attached .wav file, it can be played on a computer. Also, I've downloaded other media players to the Torch, and none of them can play the file either.

I have ringtones and voice notes that I recorded with my phone that have worked previously. My ring tones have stopped playing and I can't play back my voice notes. When I tried to play them from Media an error message comes up and says: The media being played is of an unsupported format. I am almost positive that I haven't changed any settings. I got a Samsung Forever (SGH-A886) and I would like to be able to put games on it that I have DLed onto my computer.problem is that rogers and there infinite wisdom have fixed it so that you cant do this. I transfer the game to the phone, fine but when I try to run it it tells me that its an "unsuported file format". Now I know this is because the phone has been locked so that you have to DL stuff directly to the phone but I don't have a data plan and would really like to be able to put these games and such onto my phone from my computer.

Motorola Droid X2 :: Media Player Audio File Is Unsupported

Jul 10, 2012

using OpenCore (under the stock audio player), the media player will not play newer MP3 files with high bit-rate encoding. Any of my MP3 files encoded in such a manner come up unsupported and will not play. However, lo and behold, I put the MP3s on my ORIGINAL DROID, and they play just fine using Stagefright (under the stock audio player) in Froyo. Attempting to use Stagefright on the X2 results in skipping/stuttering with these files (though there are no issues with other files). So, what now? After all of the music skipping/stuttering issues, certain MP3 files are now just completely unsupported? What gives? I continue to be completely and utterly let down by this POS phone and the complete lack of support.

BB Torch :: This Worksheet Type Is Unsupported In Sheet To Go

Jun 4, 2012

I'm using Sheet To Go often everyday since 2008 (in Palm OS, Nokia E, BB Curve) & never had a trouble. I'm using new Blackberry Torch 9860 OS 7 which comes pre-installed with Documents To Go Premium developed by RIM since last year. I was creating new xlsx file (type MS Excel 07-2008) in sheet 1 & regular editing on daily basis for a month & the size of the file is about 115KB. After last saving earlier today & I want to open the file again, it showed blank worksheet. After I check out it's opened directly in sheet 2. When I try to open sheet 1 it's pop up message "This worksheet type is unsupported in Sheet To Go". I close the file & check the size of the file is still about 115KB. This is the second time I got this error, first on last month.. I already try open the files in desktop with MS Excel 2007 but still cannot open. How to fix this error so I can recover & open/edit this files?

BB Curve 8300 :: 8330 Media Card Format Fail On Several Good Cards

Mar 17, 2010

I've done a bit of digging, trying to find a solution to my problem before I posted, but most posts in the vein of a Media Card unrecognized/unable to format trail off into "is your SD card bad?" with no response following. So here's where I stand:

My phone: Blackberry Curve 8330
My Carrier: Verizon
My OS: v4.5.0.175

2gb media card has been used in phone since purchase in July '08. As of 2 weeks ago, phone no longer reads media card. Media card is recognized by phone (meaning phone detects whether card is present or not). Error message of "Media card cannot be read. Verify that the memory card is formatted." Attempts to format via phone fail immediately. When plugging into computer via USB (with Mass-Storage Enabled), Blackberry device is recognized, but no media card is present. A greyed-out drive ( I: ) appears in My Computer, but is inaccessable and cannot be checked, opened, or formatted (Error message; "Please insert a disk into drive I: ).

Attempted solutions:
Have used 3 different media cards: 2gb Sony, 2gb PNY, 8gb. Each card tested via SD adapter and all read correctly in My Computer: can move files to/from, checkdisk, and reformat. Have formatted all via PC. Each card gives same error "Media card....formatted" as stated above. Hard reset (battery pull) has no effect. Have removed battery for 48 hours (in case there were any stubborn capacitors, or something like that). Have turned Mass Storage, Encryption, and Media Card support On and Off, removed and reinserted card with each parameter changed, no effect (I can give you the list of all of that, but you get the idea. I'm decently thorough). Rolled back the OS to previous version (via Desktop Manager), problem still exists. Re-upgraded to current version, no change. To sum up, the phone works fine, but the media card may as well not be there. It's not the card(s), and I don't think it's the software, given that I changed the OS up and down, so I'm assuming maybe hardware. I'd appreciate any suggestions, and if you need any further info, I'll do my best to provide.

BB Torch :: Media Files Not Showing In Media?

Jun 28, 2011

I'm trying to add some ringtones to my Torch. They are there and I can see them in the file manager or when I sync to my Mac. But when I go to the ringtones folder, they are not listed. There is an option to select music for a ringtone, so I put the mp3 file in the music folder along with other music files, but none show up.

The same thing happens when I take pictures with the phone. If I look at the pictures folder, it says no pictures. But if I go through file manager to the media card, I can see the pictures.

BB Torch :: E-Mail Message Format?

Dec 10, 2012

I have recently encountered a problem with the formatting on e-mail messages that I receive on my BB from sweeping both Outlook and internet e-mail addresses. The spacing is very large so that I am able to only see a few random bits/pieces of the message. It doesn't appear to be a problem with e-mails that are sent from my BB. My cell phone service is through AT&T. I am aware of no changes that would have caused this problem.

BB Torch :: Device Memory Cannot Be Read - Try To Repair Or Format

Dec 20, 2011

Last week my blackberry torch, whose battery life has been rather poor, cut out due to a dead battery. When I charged it and switched it on, my wallpaper had change and I thought weird but whatever. Anyway, I found the next day, when I tried to take a picture of my kids, that all my photos are gone and I can no longer take any pics coz it says that the memory is full, even though the media says 'o photos'. I am gutted, but have found the following message on my storage menu ' device memory cannot be read. try to repair or format'. I've tried to repair it but it fails, and I am holding on to the hope that my photos are still in there, so want to avoid formatting it until the last possible moment. I am desperate for the pictures, there are just too many of my kids there to have to lose.
