Galaxy S5 :: Unsupported Media Type For MMS Using Stock Messaging App
Jun 2, 2014
So basically I tired to send a picture from google images via mms. When I went to attach the file, the phone said "Unsupported media type, please select another". Weird thing is, I attached the same image using Hangouts and it worked just fine. Surprisingly I really like the stock app so I'd rather keep it.
So quite recently, whenever I try to download any kind of files from a website onto my memory card it tells me "Unsupported media type: application/octet-stream" I have no idea what this means & why all of a sudden it's saying that when it was working perfectly fine & letting me download files before ?? Btw I have a Blackberry Bold 9780, I was looking up some other answers & people were saying something about "browser configuration" but that's not under my browser options
I'm using Sheet To Go often everyday since 2008 (in Palm OS, Nokia E, BB Curve) & never had a trouble. I'm using new Blackberry Torch 9860 OS 7 which comes pre-installed with Documents To Go Premium developed by RIM since last year. I was creating new xlsx file (type MS Excel 07-2008) in sheet 1 & regular editing on daily basis for a month & the size of the file is about 115KB. After last saving earlier today & I want to open the file again, it showed blank worksheet. After I check out it's opened directly in sheet 2. When I try to open sheet 1 it's pop up message "This worksheet type is unsupported in Sheet To Go". I close the file & check the size of the file is still about 115KB. This is the second time I got this error, first on last month.. I already try open the files in desktop with MS Excel 2007 but still cannot open. How to fix this error so I can recover & open/edit this files?
I am using the stock messaging app. When I open the text thread for one of my contacts, at the bottom where you would start another text, it says "enter chat msg" and there is a green send button. It just so happens this person is also a gs6 owner. For all my other text threads, it says at the bottom "enter message" with an orange send button.
I recorded a video using my LG G4 phone, and when I play it back on my G4, while watching it, I get an error "Cannot Play Video, unsupported file type". The video freezes, but I can still hear the video. I never had this issue with Samsung. How do I resolve it?
I have downloaded some videos from youtube, educational purposes, and when I put them onto my SD card, I get a message stating that the video type may not be supported by my phone.... Well, it should support MP4.... any ways, move the video files onto my phone. Unplug it, and check.... Yeap, videos are playing fine. No distortion, no artifacting, no sound issues... No error messages!!!
So I plug it back in, put a few more videos on, MP4 again. Then check them again. All the videos I have put on, all play without any problems. So okay, should be good for later at work.
I get to lunch time at work, think "I'll watch some of these videos" open the folder, pick a video "Cannot play video - Unsupported file type" - WTH!?
Why is it that the videos play fine after they've been put on the phone, but after 6 - 7 hours, they suddenly become an "Unsupported file type"!! From checking the videos are ALL playing fine, to when I get on my lunch at work, my phone storage is not modified / updated in ANY way, by my input. So unless the G4 is corrupting these videos, I cannot see any logical reason for why I am having this problem.
I'm using the stock email client on a Droid3 and a DroidX with a Verizon POP3 email account. If an Office 2007 file is sent as an attachment (.docx, .xslx, .pptx) it shows up a "unsupported file type" and cannot be downloaded or saved. I have both QuickOffice and DocumentsToGo installed and the files open fine with those apps and are recognized attachments I use the K9 email client with the same Verizon POP3 email account. Is there any way to get the stock email client to recognize that .docx, etc are valid file attachments and allow them to be downloaded and viewed
How group message replies are supposed to function when you reply to a group text but uncheck the "group conversation" box. When I uncheck the box is everyone still supposed to receive my reply but just in a separate thread to them only via SMS?
How to resize it and keep it that way? I use the pinch feature to make it smaller but when I exit the app and go back to it it reverts back to the default size. I went into the settings and there is a font size selection, but it never changes the size.
Updated my S6 Edge(5.1.1) a couple of days ago...messaging is slow on the keys and sending lags when typing. Also when playing a song with headphones/bluetooth connection the song skips..not sure how to fix this?
I just started getting this message this week I don't know what happened but I can't play any .avi or .mp4 files only .wmv and .mp3 are working.Any help? I did battery bulls, spamming the play button but there is still an error playing the videos and stuff I record won't playback either.
I have ringtones and voice notes that I recorded with my phone that have worked previously. My ring tones have stopped playing and I can't play back my voice notes. When I tried to play them from Media an error message comes up and says: The media being played is of an unsupported format. I am almost positive that I haven't changed any settings. It could be possible since I have children but I don't think so. After ripping a cd onto my Blackberry, when I try to play the songs I get a message that says , The media being played is of an unsupported format....anyone know what I've done wrong or what do I do next?
using OpenCore (under the stock audio player), the media player will not play newer MP3 files with high bit-rate encoding. Any of my MP3 files encoded in such a manner come up unsupported and will not play. However, lo and behold, I put the MP3s on my ORIGINAL DROID, and they play just fine using Stagefright (under the stock audio player) in Froyo. Attempting to use Stagefright on the X2 results in skipping/stuttering with these files (though there are no issues with other files). So, what now? After all of the music skipping/stuttering issues, certain MP3 files are now just completely unsupported? What gives? I continue to be completely and utterly let down by this POS phone and the complete lack of support.
I did the iOS 8.1.2 update. I now do not have predictive type on my iPhone 5s for messaging but do have it for my iPad Retina Mini. Predictive is selected under Settings/Keyboard/Predictive on both devices. I really do not want to lose this because it actually made the keyboarding experience on my devices tolerable. Also I was thinking that I had this keyboard in other apps on the devices but am not seeing it now.
It was the little bar with the suggestions was collapsed. Even with my very tiny fingers, I had a hard time getting it back by dealing with that little grey line, but it is now back.Â
Info: iPhone 5s, iOS 8.1.2, also issue on iPad Retina Mini
.wav files that come as attachments to an email from our office voicemail system won't play. On device, it says" the media being played is of an unsupported format" The files will actually play the first time the email arrives if you chose the preview option. But subsequent attempts to play the file, or if you choose download and save them, they then can not be played. I confimed that these files can be played on a computer, and my Torch can play other .wav files.
I've tried having the files sent to all of the different types of email accounts that I have on my Torch(both Enterprise and Internet), and they won't play from any of them. So it seems that something happens to the file once it's received and stored. If I forward the email with the attached .wav file, it can be played on a computer. Also, I've downloaded other media players to the Torch, and none of them can play the file either.
I've noticed that in the stock messaging app the bar color changes, before it was a different color and now it's orange and I don't like the color, how to make it change color ....
I've been using the stock messaging app and ChompSMS on my X10. After updating to 2.1 I wasn't going to install chomp since I found the stock app good enough. Then I noticed that if I type an SMS, longer than 3 SMS-es, it gets converted to MMS. And there is no setting to disable that. I have free SMS-es, I don't want to send MMS-es and pay for them. :S Why are there no settings for this in the app? Are they somewhere else in the phone?
Ok I have been trying to figure this one out for a few days. I installed Nova launcher and for some reason I cant seem to find the stock messaging app in Nova. It's there in the stock launcher but nowhere to be found in Nova.
A few weeks ago, seemingly out of the blue, by stock messaging app lost the ability to send pictures. Suddenly every time I sent a picture message I would receive the "Unfortunately, the Messaging app has stopped responding" error. My phone also stopped being able to receive pictures as well. I can't figure out what exactly changed that caused this issue, or if this is a common bug or completely isolated incident.
Is there anyway to reinstall the stock text messaging app on the Atrix 2? Since day one the app will link to the wrong message from the preview, either in the Universal Inbox, the Notifications, or the Text Messages list. A reboot of the device corrects the problem temporarily, but it always returns.
Any way to disable the limit of characters in a text message using the Xperia messaging app. Whenever I go over a certain number of characters, the app splits my text message into 2 or 3 SMS. So the person I'm sending it to receives 2 or 3 SMS instead of one. I had the same issue on my iPhone years ago, but Apple fixed it, so I can send super long SMS. Is there a way to fix this on my Z3?
Whenever I receive an sms, the messaging app shows a phone number instead of a contact name. It also does not show the contact photo. From time to time the contact name would show (reason undetermined), but still without the photo. I am using a stock messaging app and the phone is not modded in any way. All contacts are Google contacts duplicated and linked to Phone contacs (although I tried erasing Phone contacts and using only Google contacts - to no avail.) Each contact has got a +48 country prefix. The "People" list is showing photos without a problem. I previously had a classic Desire and the messaging app worked fine.
I went previously to settings, application mgr, Galaxy apps, cleared cach/data, forced stop. I went back to galaxy and tried to delete pictures and it still won't let me delete and "unsupported file" continues to come up. What can I do to get these pics of my phone?
My new X6 arrived today. My initial reaction was fairly positive but I have a few questions and would be grateful for some advice please.First off, my old phone (N95) had an extremely handy Home Media Server feature. I would've thought the X6 would have something similar considering it is a multi-media type device. However, i'm unable to find such a feature. Could someone advise if Nokia have dropped the HMS for this model please?
Also, most of my passwords for internet logons and email etc were all created using a generator with random letters, numbers and characters. On my N95, I was able to copy/paste this info and save a lot of time when setting up mail accounts and other apps. I know the X6 does support copy/paste but the paste option isn't present for many password boxes. Is there a way around this please?
I tried going through my gallery only to find out half and I kid you not, half of my photos are not showing up. There were 2 columns of unsupported files through all my photos and I don't know what happened, I cant even delete them.
