Anyone have issue where the caller id doesn't display the name even when the number is associated to a contact? Im pretty sure it worked up until a few days ago, very strange.

I have a Torch 9800 and on Saturday while uninstalling the true caller app that I thought was the reason for the slow response I was getting from my phone, it began restarting itself and eventually gave me a JVM 545 error - reset and it went off completely. It is has not responded to anything even charging. I have even tried the Blackberry Desktop Software and still no response.

so, after some battery pull, decided to re-install the original SO. now i can see the name of my carrier and the full power of signal but i'm not able to make/receive phone call or text messages because it says: no service available.
i looked for any number to contact but i didn't find anything.
i've bought this 9800 to replace my iphone but i think i'll keep my iphone: with apple a problem like this will be solved calling the support center and receiving a new phone, with the blackberry.. it's better not to know! (one frriend of mine sent the bb to the support and it come back after 2 month still not working) any number to contact? or any person who wnat to buy my torch?
I can't synch my contact list with outlook using BB desktop software. This seems to have happened after recent software upgrade. When I scroll the Synch options contact and calendar are missing. When I go to Device and Advance Settings and Default Services only my webmail accounts are shown and none of my outlook email accounts. How can I get back to synching with my outlook folder?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOk I have noticed that on the Torch the text tone is the same for everyone even if you assign a ringtone and tone for message for a contact. Before on the 9700 when you received a text, e-mail whatever tone was assigned to that contact came through. I guess that feature is gone.

So the contact number 04xx yyy zzz becomes 864xx yyy zzz. Being Chinas' country code I am guessing my phone originated in China???? How do I stop the phone from adding the prefix??
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to transfer all of my contacts from from an older torch 9800 to a new torch 9800 but only a portion of the contacts are being copied. I have tried backup-restore via desktop software etc... but it's not copying the complete list. Tried to do it at AT&T store but that just duplicated the 425 contacts that I all ready had. After I manually deleted all of the duplicates....Tried again to no avail.

The emails and phone numbers in this list work fine for other models we have (9650,etc.) But users with new BB Torch 9800 can not click on the phone numbers or emails any more. Our provider is ATT. The OS I believe is 6.0.0.246.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter having gone a couple of months withs with Gingerbread without any problems to report I started experiencing a strange thing with incoming calls, texts, emails, etc.For incoming calls, the number displayed is the correct number but the screen pulls an incorrect name from my contacts list and displays a picture (taken from either LinkedIn or Facebook profiles) that is from a third, different contact.So the number is for Contact A and is the actual caller, the name that is displayed is contact B and the photo is contact c.If I go to make an outgoing call, the same thing in the inverse occurs.I choose Contact A and it dials contact A but displays it is calling contact B.This has caused me to have to double & triple check when I am making calls to ensure that it is calling the right contacts.
A similar thing happens for texts, incoming texts display the correct number from which they are originating but display that they are from a different contact name.When I go to send a text and enter a number it indicates that it is sending it to the correct phone number but with a different name assocaited with that number. Finally, something similar is happening in email messaging. If I hit reply, while the actual email address is correct the contact name that it lists is incorrect.
As an avid business crackberry fan (and business manager) for over 3 years, I was appalled to find that I would need to slide the keyboard out to enter my security code, especially when I would do it 50-100 times per day. As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have this weird problem on my 3GS. This is what happens:
1. Someone calls me from number not in my contacts.
2. I go to my "recents" and click the arrow, and then "create new contact".
3. I type a name (Lyle) and click "save".
4. In "recents" the number now shows up as "Lyle", everything seems ok.
5. In the "contacts app" Lyle does not exist. Therefore also does not sync with mobileme.
If I add a contact in the contact app itself, everything works fine.
how to fix my caller id function on my phone? My contacts are inputted properly but their names do not show with their number for me to identify them when they are calling. I only see their numbers.
Also even though I have facebook linked to my contacts to update their pictures it does not link the pics;
When a stored contact is calling, is it possible to have the name to be read up ?

A couple of days ago (nothing strange happened) this suddenly changed and now I can only see the number of the caller and not the name, which I find quite annoying.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to activate caller ID for my BB contact list? I just switched from a Samsung, on that phone I had caller ID for all the contacts in my contact list. My Blackberry doesn't seem to do this. As long as I had someone in my contact list their info was displayed when they called. Numbers that weren't in my contact list/phonebook would show as just the number-which is fine. Is there a way to have the BB do this as well? Its very frustrating as I have no idea who is calling me... If the info is already in the phone there should be a way to have that displayed when people call.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have already installed the new Desktop Manager 6.0 that I downloaded from the RIM site.
I am thinking the safest way to not have a problem is the just restore my 9800 data from a back up rather than do the Switch Device thing. Anyone worried it might bring erroneous crap into the new 6.0 OS.
Maybe it would be better to redo my settings after the data install to make sure all is clean and working correctly. Some of the 5.0 setting would not be applicable to the new 6.0 software.

My caller ID isn't working for incoming calls from my contact list. It did work at one time and possibly I changed a setting somewhere but I'm not able to backtrack my steps. When I initiate the call any picture I have for that contact shows but not when the call is coming in.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the latest update for the Blackberry Torch (6.0) and I cannot charge my phone. I have tried to charge via a USB port and several wall outlets. I have removed the battery (following possible solutions found on this forum) - while the phone is on, with it turned off, and while it was plugged into a wall socket. It displays the charging icon for a few moments and then stops charging. Also, my phone does not always show the caller ID of an incoming call. I have edited my contacts list on several occasions to have each contact saved as +11234567 and 1234567. I have reformatted the phone twice since purchasing. I was so excited about this phone when it came out, bought it shortly after release.

I had tried all the following and nothing works:
- make sure Bluetooth is turned off
- removed battery and put back after 1 ~5 mins
- Do backup, update the latest software and restore
This is my first bb and I love it to bits...I have noticed that today whenever i receive a call I have the same caller id showing as the first person that rang me after I switched my phone on this morning...and that was my wife...so I have been answering "hi gorgeous" to everyone all day!
