BB Curve 83xx :: Does Verizon's Service Books Support OS 5.0?
Feb 25, 2010
So, is anyone running the Hybrid OS 5.0 on their 8330 on the Verizon Wireless?I read where someone suggested the Verizon's Service Books don't support the OS and possibly the GPS would not work.
i have a Blackberry Curve 8900. I'm on a network in Ireland called Meteor but my phone is an unlocked Orange UK phone. Last week Meteor starting supporting Blackberrys but i have no service books on my phone for Internet or MMS. I can't log into Meteor or Orange BIS website to get the service books and i don't have E-mail Setup on the handset to get them that way either. I have rang Meteor and Orange and neither seem to know how to get my Internet and MMS up and running. I don't think that it has anything to do with Orange anyway seeing as the phone is unlocked and I've been using it on the Meteor network for the past year just without certain functions. I've tried a battery pull and I've tried the Register Now function through the Host Routing Table option. Nothing seems to work and it's really starting to bother me.
I've tried just about every trick in the book to get my BB to use the internet and BBM.
o2 say that all settings on the phone and their internal networks are correct. I send off to register the device, I never recieve a message back from BIS
I've been trying to get this sorted for 7 days now and I am so close to throwing the thing in the bin. Are there any RIM/Blackberry employees on this board that can take a look at it or tell me why the service book message just isn't being sent?
FWIW I bought this phone off a friend, on the same network and PAYG and everything worked fine with their sim, I put mine in and it just won't work, no matter what.
I've wiped, reset, downgraded OS, upgraded OS, gone over all settings, talked to o2 online, by phone, in store god knows how many times, and all i get is "register the device" IT DOES NOT WORK!
EDIT: I have an active blackberry bolt-on/data plan with o2
I downloaded the free version of docs to go but when I try to open a document (xls) it reads "More request cannot be completed. Service book information not found." I'm rather stumped and the other posts I have read have not helped.
I would imagine this has been asked, but could I get a BB off of ebay or something and "clone" mine? Would I ever be able to run 2 at once on the same account? I have had recent experience with "wiping" the phone and was wondering if I could get a tour or something and "upgrade" myself.
my 8350i will not accept service books. I have never received a text message. I have downloaded and installed combined 3 and still no results. in the desktop manager it shows 23 SB but only installs 5-6 SB. I have the latest software and still only a partially functional boost berry.
I know that some third party apps wont work with a flashed phone. But what i cant seem to setup is personal email. I go to setup wizard and go to email setup and i get to the part that says if i have a password for the enterprise activation. And that's as far as i get, cause obviously i don't have a password and this phone is for personal use not business use. Any and all help is appreciated.
I have a Sprint 8330 and I am do for an upgrade. I am planning on giving my curve to my sister who has Verizon. What do I have to do? She does not know anything about BB and it will be her first one. Besides getting her a crackberry account! I want to be able to just give her the phone ready to go. what do I have to do.
Hello. About three days ago, I received a refurbished 8330 from Verizon because the one before that was stopped working properly (different story). I have since then registered the phone to the internet network (Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table) and I still cannot send/receive e-mail through my Blackberry.net registered e-mail address.
I recently upgraded my Verizon 8330 to Nathanix 5.0 Hybrid. I like the features of this OS, but now the Application Memory is almost full (I keep getting the screen that prompts me to select apps to delete) and it is running slow.
When I unlock it, it takes quite a few seconds to "boot up"; the hourglass is turning, but the keys and trackball don't do anything. This is really annoying if I recieve a SMS or email and want to check it really quick.
Also, it has been freezing up a few times a day, and I end up doing battery pulls.
I really like some of the features so I'm not sold on going back to my old OS, but this is annoying.
My mother gave me a blackberry curve 8320 from t-mobile that is unlocked. My current carrier is verizon. Can I use my new blackberry with my current provider?
My blackberry curve had been working fine up until last night. I tried a few things such as reconnecting to the verizon mobile network, I did a reboot and a few hard reboots, I finally wound up doing a wipe which didn't help either. Before I wiped the bb I ran a diagnostics test and my radio data activation would say no and everything else would be unknown. I have no service books and my host routing table is empty. Yhe blackberry internet server doesnt recognize that the phone is activated. I dont know what else to do, I took it to a local verizon store and he said my software is shot and I need a new phone.
I try using one the Instant Messaging services, I keep getting the error shown in the title. Its not just one, it's all four of them(MSN, AIM, Yahoo!, and GTalk).
I bought the 8330 about six months ago and purchased the High-speed data package from Sprint. I have confirmed with my provider that I do have the high-speed data package. I noticed that the phone is very slow while connecting to the internet. I took the phone into the store where I bought it which is a Sprint dealer.
The person working there said the problem was that.I only had a 1X for radio signal and I needed a 1XEV. He messed with the phone for about an hour and even talked to support while I was in store. We tried re-provisioning several times and numerous other things. Eventually I was told by support that the particular Blackberry I owned did not support EV(EVDO) service and I would have to purchase a new phone.
Well everytime I delete say Nascar Sprint Cup browser config ill do a reset and the icon to instal it comes back and its back in the service book. Same with facebook sprint music store software store and some others. Why do they keep restoring back to the service book?
when i click on my facebook app it says ' you are currently on a service plan that does not support this application. if you want to use this application, please conact your service provider to upgrade your data plan' but i am on pay monthly and can get onto the internet jus not the facebook app. Also my phone will not connect to any WIFI at all.
Is there any free push email service from 3rd party other than the one that comes default with Blackberry?I searched on Google but couldn't find any satisfactory result...some of the services are discontinued.
After 6 months of normal activities, my Blackberry stopped received emails on my BIS accounts, however i can still send email. I have read several forums and contacted my operator and done the following:try to register again, deleyed the service books and asked for new ones (i couldnt receive the service books)reinstalled the O/S after wiping and resetting factory settings using javaloaderstill cant receive the service books, however my fone register, what else can i do ?
I usually do a battery pull every 3 or 4 days. I always send my service books by way of my laptop from the T-Mobile website. When I am not at my desk and want to send servicebooks what is the easiest way of doing this on the handheld? (9700)
Everything seems to be working on my bb storm 9530. i have att plan.i cant send or recieve picture messages. i think either the service books are messed up or somethign else is wrong. i get no mms record found. i been reading and cant find a solution. if anyone knows an easy fix i can do from the handheld, great, but i dont want to do somethign dramatic like reinstall the os etc.
I got my BlackBerry Curve 8520 a few days ago and discovered that I cannot receive service books. The icon for my mailbox for my supposedly created email does not appear on my phone after creating it on the BIS. I tried resending service books a thousand times already but nothing. No icons for email showed up on my phone's home screen and not a single service books received. I tried pulling out the battery already, deleting my email and re-adding it up on the BIS, had my account deleted on the BIS and registering my phone again but nothing seemed to work. I still cannot receive service books and no email icon seemed to appear. I even updated the OS of my phone to v5.0. Everything on my Blackberry is working except for my email and service books problem. I also tried going to Options > Advanced options > HRT > register. I also did a Wipe Handheld on my device but nothing changes. My data plan is active and GPRS is in all caps.
I have an 8350i on Nextel and i have loaded OS 5 onto it. (a little background incase you arent aware.. Nextel has not yet released OS 5 but SouthernLinc has and ive been using SouthernLincs version of it for the 8350i for about a month or so with NO issues) I really dont want to have to reload my OS back to 4.6 as there are some major upgrades on 5.0 for the 8350i. You guys think it might be that im running OS 5? I also have the "Boostberry" configuration (aka i have a normal nextel data plan instead of a bb plan) ive had this for about 6 months atleast now without any troubles. So 3 times over the week or so ive turned on my device and had it "register with the network" then i go to compose a sms message or place a call and i get service book not found errors. I reload the service books and it works great for a few days then it happens again. You think its because of running Southernlincs OS 5 thats just not causing me issues or any other ideas of what it may be?? I dont want to downgrade back to 4.6 and spend an hour loading everything just to find out that wasnt my issue.
I have a strange problem since yesterday. Out of the blue my 9700 (5.0.0.442, free device, Vodafone Germany) can no longer connect to the Internet. The connection to the BIS, however, is still there. It lacks only the right service books. Vodafone said that I should do a software update -> so I installed 5.0.0.536. But the problem persists. The Vodafone-BlackBerry support is then determined that posting the service books hang in a "queue" and can not be delivered. They created a new BIS account for testing, even there the problem exists. My carrier says I have to replace the 9700. But I don't think, that this is a hardware problem. Sounds more like a software problem to me, because some service books still arrive:
Wi-Fi TCP / IP Browser Wi-Fi TCP / IP Transport Save Self VPL D2 WAP 2.0 Wap Push Config Vodafone DE MMS transport Provisioning
Akkupulls, resending service books, wiping and new firmware install brought no improvement. I just despair. Every data connection with no BIS requirement works. (e.g. weather apps)
I am heading out on a cruise next week and i was hoping to easily turn off my primary email accounts, but leave on a secondary one that my office can used only when needed. I am a very heavy email user and at .02 cents a kb, I would need a mortgage to pay for all that email. Will deleting the service books for these accounts stop the email from coming in until I can download all email to my laptop; and then download service books?I am a longtime bb user, but the new BIS interfaces do not have a way to turn specific email accounts on and off like they used to.
Just in case anyone is fighting with data connections today (3/2/12), Verizon has a 4G outage going - at least in my area. I'm in the Maryland suburbs outside DC. My service has been down for a couple of hours so far.
