BB Curve 8300 :: Lost Fields Under Email Settings - How To Restore
Feb 9, 2010
I have a curve 8300 which used to be connected to my mobile account through my former employers BES which worked perfectly. I have now left the company so have switched it from BES to BIS using the same mobile service provider. Emails are not synchronizing properly between handheld and laptop and I am told by mobile service provider that this is likely due to the 'email settings' not being set up correctly on my handheld. The problem is that most of the fields that should be appearing under options/email settings on my handheld are missing. The device software has been wiped and reinstalled but problem remains. Any ideas on why I am missing some of the fields and how I can get them?

I reformatted my BB on Monday, and reinstalled it from backup. Before that, when I'd get an email notification, the LED would flash red and a tone would sound. Now, nothing. I have it set up correctly, and even took it to the store today to see if they could figure it out. All other sounds/notifications work fine, except for email.

My company had to wipe my BB and now I do not have the option to 'create or add an email address'. The only option is to 'use a work email account with a BES'. How do I get that option back?

I recently updated to V4.5, and after the installation, I noticed that lots of things were missing, so I did a restore of my last backup. After restoring my last backup, I still notice that my memopad is missing. When I look at my list of files from the backup, it shows my memos as unavailable because they have been configured for wireless syncronization or wireless backup and are read-only. Is there a way to correct this and restore my memos and memopad?

I have a Blackberry curve 8300 that I have decommissioned. However, I left some data on it that requires recovery. Funny things is I forgot the password. I do have a backup of the data so I all need to do is figure or get told how to set the device to factory defaults so I can reload the system with the application that is storing the data I need.

i was connecting my 8310 to my pc using the usb cable, and when was displayed the pop-up alert on the phone, to allow the memory card connection, I selected the flag to avoid the repetition of the question, but, unluckly, I selected the "No" option and not the "Yes" option: a very stupid type mistake. So, now, Desktop Manager can't connect with that computer, cause the 8310 has stored the option that it hasn't to connect and never ask it again. Is there any way to restore the pop up message to allow the pc to connect by USB?I tryed to restore the default option for the firewall, but the situation didin't change.

I am able to connect to the internet with DNA (Finland) at only some spots, but BB messaging, email, google maps, or any other app doesn't work. DNA has never seen a BB and have tried to talk to their Technical support whom say to just activate as follows: GPRS WAP settings clients: ip address: 10.1.1.1 Port: 9201 GPRS connection settings WAP2.0 DNA's clients: proxy server ip address (proxy): 10.1.1.1 Proxy port: 8080 I was able to find the first part but don't know where to change the proxy server and how can I connect to emails and BB messaging. I need a lot of help or I might just give up having a BB in Nokialand.

The Specs:
BB Curve 8310 (EDGE)
O/S v4.2.2.170 (platform 2.5.0.30)
Carrier - AT&T
BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service)
Vista Home Premium 64 bit- SP1
BB Desktop Manager Version 5.0.1 (March 2010)
USB cable for sync
The Problem: How do I reconfigure the sync setting on a "grayed-out" Desktop Manager (DTM) v5.0.1? But please read on...when I updated my DTM from v4.3.0 to 5.0.1 I think I was asked how I wanted to set up my sync. I accidentally set up the sync guidelines to sync upon connection and my old settings on my previous DTM (v4.3.0) had a sync that went both ways. But what I really want to do is to reconfigure my sync settings to "One Way Sync FROM device (BB data --> laptop). I need to do this because all my data is on my BB device and is not on my laptop due to a hard drive crash on my laptop. I will lose years of data if I do not sync in the proper direction. On the "grayed-out" DTM I cannot click on anything to change the sync settings. I just keep getting the DTM message, "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer". But if I connect my BB device with the computer, I am afraid the sync may not go in the correct direction that I require and I will lose my data. I am a new user to the setup process and would really appreciate a step-by-step approach from start to finish to solve this issue. Your suggestions will be most appreciated and I thank you in advance.

I am having problems with mass storage mode. When I connect my device and try to see the media using the music, pictures, or video buttons on the desktop manager it says I need to turn on mass storage mode however when I check the device settings under options/media card/ the settings are as follows:
Media Card Support ON
Encryption Mode NONE
Mass Storage Mode Support ON
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected YES
I'm at a loss as to how to make this work as everything I read says the settings are correct.
Operating System WINDOWS 7 Pro
Blackberry Desktop Ver 6.0.0.40
Blackberry Type Curve 8330
Device Software Ver 4.5.0.169

I have been religiously doing auto-backup on to a remote hard drive. But now I cannot seem to access any of those files at all. It keeps saying I have no administrative permission to view the files. Even when copied to my desktop, I can't use them to restore. The issue that started this all is that I switched computers. And every time I sync, the desktop program wants to add or delete about 1200 past calendar items. I have been reticent to allow the sync to continue because I did not want to lose data, but today I said, "what the hell" and let it continue. It deleted everything from BOTH the handheld and computer prior to May, when I started using the new computer. So when I try to reinstall the older backup file to retrieve the lost data, now the program won't let me access the files I saved so religiously.

A friend gave me their old Blackberry but it was used for his work email and was set up with a password just to access the phone. He doesn't remember the password. I put a new sim card in, but is still asking for the password. We tried 4 different ones. On the 5th it warns you that your program will be deleted. We haven't tried the 5th password. It we do will it erase information in the sim card?
Is there a way to clear everything out of memory and reset the Blackberry to it original defalut settings.I tried pulling out the battery with the phone on, but that doesn't do any good.

When I send an email from BB and the person on other side replies the to field shows just my email address instead of name with email address. At first I thought it was because they didn't have me as a contact but that wasn't it.

I want to add a new email-acount to my Blackberry 8310. Following the instructions I did it with the installation wizard. I found the option "installing email". Pressing these, I only can choose the options:
1. 'I want to install an account with the BB Enterprise Server' and
2. 'I want to quit with installing email'.The option 'I want to create or add a new account' doesn't appear. Does anyone know how to resolve this and how I could add a new email account?

I recieved my Curve 8520 6 days ago and I am still waiting on my service provider contacting me about the Blackberry Tariff HOWEVER when setting up my phone using the Wizard Setup I did not have two options for the email setup, only Enterprise Email Activation...I have never had one, this is my first Blackberry. How do I apply the other option of Add An Email Address? Or does this mean that the phone has been used by someone else (even though it was bought from my service provider "brand new"), or a fault has arisen? What can be done?

I'm really stuck with an email problem. I've looked through these forums for quite a while but haven't been able to get an answer.
I've had an email address that I've used for many years on my computer (sbcglobal.net), so naturally I used that same email address on my Curve, without any problems. The other day, I decided to stop using that email address that I've been using for a long time and created a new email address with a different server (gmail.com). So now I want that new email address as my default email on my Curve. I'm having the hardest time figuring out how to delete my current email address on my Curve and change it to the new email address.
I've tried going to Default Services and changing the email, but I can't change anything. My only option is the current sbcglobal.net email. I've also tried going to email setup and logging in to change my email settings, but for some reason it's not accepting my username/password. I'm using the right username and password combination but it's saying I have the wrong u/p.

Every so often, I check Outlook and notice e-mails that were never received on my Blackberry. Here's what I know:
1) the problem only rarely occurs, so I can't recreate it for others to see
3) a user can send me dozens of e-mails without a problem, then inexplicably one will go missing (so it isn't a single user issue)
4) carrier is Verizon they claim it is Yahoo's issue, because no other e-mails are effected (I use Yahoo Small Business e-mail)
5) Yahoo claims it is not their issue since e-mails are being received in Outlook
6) Outlook is configured to leave all of my messages on the server (it is a pop3 account if that matters)
7) The e-mails are not being received into Spam or any other folder
Here's what I've done (in no particular order):
1) hard reset
2) resent service books
3) added and deleted my e-mail account
4) checked all of my settings
5) re-registered with Verizon
6) threw a tantrum
7) screamed wildly at my co-workers for no reason
8) drank a few beers
9) broke up with my girlfriend
10) took a nap

Have a new 8310. OS is v4.5.0.37 Platform 2.7.0.55I'm in Australia, currently with Telstra but in the process of changing.I have not purchased a data plan for the phone. I have a wireless modem for my desktop & wondering if I can use this to connect my phone to the web without purchasing data?
Do I need a data plan to send emails? Can I use my existing online email acct(yahoo), or do I need to set up a special one for the phone? If so, please explain where/how? If not, what other info do I need to configure the existing one? It seems I need a PIN as well as e-addy & password(& assuming it's the yahoo password?)

I recently upgraded the software on my BB and I have 3 e-mail accounts that I have been using with it. For some reason it randomly selected one as the default to use when sending out messages, etc. from any application. I have changed it to the e-mail I want (Options>Advanced Options>Default Services>) however this doesn't fix my problem. I even deleted the e-mail address from my blackberry and in my calendar it still shows a default that is not what I put in the options. The wrong e-mail is still set somewhere because when I go to use Viigo it tries to send it from the e-mail address I deleted!
