BB Curve 8300 :: Clear Everything Out Of Memory / Reset Blackberry To It Original Defalut Settings
Sep 9, 2010
A friend gave me their old Blackberry but it was used for his work email and was set up with a password just to access the phone. He doesn't remember the password. I put a new sim card in, but is still asking for the password. We tried 4 different ones. On the 5th it warns you that your program will be deleted. We haven't tried the 5th password. It we do will it erase information in the sim card?
Is there a way to clear everything out of memory and reset the Blackberry to it original defalut settings.I tried pulling out the battery with the phone on, but that doesn't do any good.

I want to reset my phone to its original factory settings but the only way I can do it is on my computer, the screen of my bold 9700 is completely white and I was told to wipe the phone clean and redo the OS. How to reset the phone on the computer, as I said, I can't do it on the phone itself.

I've got a few questions about my AT&T Curve 8310...I was looking through "Options > Applications" and saw that the app that took the most memory was "Content Store." Anyone know what this is, if I can delete it, & what would happen if I did? Is there any way to shrink this down some?
My address book takes up quite a bit of memory; so does my calendar -- both of which were synced from Outlook. Is there any way to have the addresses/calendar data stored onto my microSD instead of the device memory?
Lastly, I noticed that when I call people using my Curve, it shows up on their caller ID as "private name, private number." Where can I change this setting? Is it in my provider's settings (which I can access online) or on the BlackBerry's settings somewhere? Also, is it possible to at least NOT have it show private when calling those on my address book, such as friends & relatives?

I am going to be putting my 8520 on Ebay soon, and would like to get all my details off it, and was wondering if this is just a case of factory resetting the phone, and if so, where is this option on the phone, I cannot seem to find it.

My camera image has suddenly gone all reddish and kind of distorted, and when I take a picture it acts like it is snapping the pic but nothing records in the memory. Has anyone else's camera done this? I've taken it to 2 different AT&T store and no one has seen anything like it or knows what to do. All of the camera settings are correct.

The Specs:
BB Curve 8310 (EDGE)
O/S v4.2.2.170 (platform 2.5.0.30)
Carrier - AT&T
BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service)
Vista Home Premium 64 bit- SP1
BB Desktop Manager Version 5.0.1 (March 2010)
USB cable for sync
The Problem: How do I reconfigure the sync setting on a "grayed-out" Desktop Manager (DTM) v5.0.1? But please read on...when I updated my DTM from v4.3.0 to 5.0.1 I think I was asked how I wanted to set up my sync. I accidentally set up the sync guidelines to sync upon connection and my old settings on my previous DTM (v4.3.0) had a sync that went both ways. But what I really want to do is to reconfigure my sync settings to "One Way Sync FROM device (BB data --> laptop). I need to do this because all my data is on my BB device and is not on my laptop due to a hard drive crash on my laptop. I will lose years of data if I do not sync in the proper direction. On the "grayed-out" DTM I cannot click on anything to change the sync settings. I just keep getting the DTM message, "Before you begin, verify that your current BlackBerry device is connected to your computer". But if I connect my BB device with the computer, I am afraid the sync may not go in the correct direction that I require and I will lose my data. I am a new user to the setup process and would really appreciate a step-by-step approach from start to finish to solve this issue. Your suggestions will be most appreciated and I thank you in advance.

I do not have a media card in my black berry 8310,therefore, I use the internal memory for pictures and stuff. When I plug my blackberry into the computer it recognizes that something was plugged into it but when I go to Computer to access the D: drive, my removable drive, the computer tells me to plug in a removable disk, yes whilst my blackberry is already plugged in, very frustrating. i dont understand why. Also i do not get a message on my phone to turn the mass storage on or off, i went to options and i have it on and tell my blackberry to prompt me also.if the first problem can be resolved and my computer can recognize my blackberry as a storage device, is it possible to recover any lost pictures off of my internal memory with recovery software?

I have a curve 8300 which used to be connected to my mobile account through my former employers BES which worked perfectly. I have now left the company so have switched it from BES to BIS using the same mobile service provider. Emails are not synchronizing properly between handheld and laptop and I am told by mobile service provider that this is likely due to the 'email settings' not being set up correctly on my handheld. The problem is that most of the fields that should be appearing under options/email settings on my handheld are missing. The device software has been wiped and reinstalled but problem remains. Any ideas on why I am missing some of the fields and how I can get them?

I am having problems with mass storage mode. When I connect my device and try to see the media using the music, pictures, or video buttons on the desktop manager it says I need to turn on mass storage mode however when I check the device settings under options/media card/ the settings are as follows:
Media Card Support ON
Encryption Mode NONE
Mass Storage Mode Support ON
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected YES
I'm at a loss as to how to make this work as everything I read says the settings are correct.
Operating System WINDOWS 7 Pro
Blackberry Desktop Ver 6.0.0.40
Blackberry Type Curve 8330
Device Software Ver 4.5.0.169

I was locked out of my account while trying to reset my password. I clicked the "forgot password" link, entered my secret question correctly.I followed the link to reset my password that was emailed to me.I then got a generic error saying there was a problem processing your request after trying to give it a new password. It didn't say that my new password was too short, or the confirmation didn't match or that my secret question was wrong. All it gave me was an error.

Is there a way to really reset the BB to the factory settings?I am running 5.0x firmware, and the Options/ Security Options/ General Settings/ Menu/ Wipe Handheld function is not present anymore! (I saw it when I had 4.6.x..)So I tried this (from Mac, as on XP I can't locate the loader.exe file): http://www.blackberry.com /btsc/ search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB18998 but it actually did not really clean my BB, it kept for example all the apps I installed which are the reason why I would like to reset the BB! it also kept the 5.0.x firmware, while when I got the BB it had the 4.6.x firmware. I really would like to go back to the original status. any suggestions?

Everyone says go to options - security options - general options - wipe handheld.
When I go to security options, all the options I have are:
Advanced Security Options
Encryption
Firewall
Information
Security Wipe
I have been reading that the security wipe won't get rid of everything. When I go into security wipe, it says if I wipe "Emails, Contacts, etc." you will not be able to send or receive email on the device after you wipe it.
Does that mean on this phone ever again, or just from the email addresses I am wiping?
