I have a 6 month old BB 9780 and it froze. After taking out the battery to restart the phone, it will not come back on and there is NO blinking red light even after severalnhours of charging.
View 1 RepliesBasically I plugged my phone in to my computer yesterday to charge it up, did no updates or download anything new, it is exactly the same software wise as it was before the problem started.It suddenly has started switching off automatically and then switching back on but its not in a continuous loop. It happens frequently but I sometimes can use my phone for a few minutes before it will start doing this again. I have a small feeling I know this is going to sound completely stupid but I have a small feeling it may have something to do with the signal. At university my signal constantly switches between having some and no signal and when I have no signal it seems to keep restarting and resetting it self till I have signal.Sometimes it resets when I do have signal but the majority of the time it resets it doesn't have signal. This is going to be the next stupid part, I went home today and I had full signal all day and this problem didn't happen once but soon as I got back to university the problem has started again.

Now when i start it, it will reboot to about 10% and than start to reboot again, and again. It's stuck in a cycle of reboots. I tried connecting my blackberry whit my pc but the pc couldn't find the blackberry. I had a brand new battery laying around so I put that in but it did nothing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn January 2011 I purchased a new Bold 9780 and I just loved it. Yesterday on my phone I received an opportunity for a device update. After it indicated that it would take over 2 hours to install and during which time I would not be able to use the phone I tried to prompt it for a remote start at 2:00AM (then I would have time to do a back-up)...pressed save after making the time prompt and it still started the update immediately. I shrugged it off and let it do it's thing. Almost 3 hours later, it still wasn't up. I was still getting a white screen with the small black box with second hand spinning in the centre of the screen then it would give me a download bar that would only load to 50% then the screen/phone would shut off, red indicator light would come on, then a white screen again....repeat! Contacted my service provider and was told that it sounds like it just needs more time to do it's thing. I plugged it into the wall so that it wouldn't run out of juice and went to bed. Woke up at 4:00AM, checked the phone and there was no power, black screen and no indicator light on. I WAS UNABLE TO POWER UP THE PHONE. Still plugged in, I pulled the battery. I then got a red indicator light but nothing else. Put the battery back in and the indicator light went out and, once again, the phone was dead.

So I reboot the phone and... the phone wont load pass the Nokia "connecting people" handshake it just sits there frozen and I can't force a restart I can only remove the battery and try again but the same thing happens....
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo everyday I go through a dead zone with my phone, and everytime I go through this dead zone, I have to reboot my phone after because it prevents me from being able to use the internet or bbm. In bbm it makes an eternal red clock (even after I fix it the messages I wrote before rebooting never send) and the internet will not load anything (nor facebook). So what I do everyday is pull out the battery to do a full reboot.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy phone has been getting worse and worse by the day. First the i had horrible battery life when i was on phone calls, it would only last 30 min tops with a full battery. Then i was listening to the sirius radio app for about 15 min and my storm had a random reset. At first i said oh no problem it will be back up soon. So i waited and waited and when it finaly came back up i had a dead battery with 2% left. I was like wtf happened. I had about 80% when it reset and it came back with 2%. So then i did a battery pull to see if the phone just had a little problem with booting up. When it came back it had 22% battery but it only lasted about a min before it decided to reboot again. This time it wouldnt come back on. It was an endless reboot going again and again. The only way to stop it was to plug it in the wall and charge it up again. Last night it did the same thing when i was on the internet for only 5 min.
I tried all the different hybrids and nothing works. I dont know what to do now. Is it the battery or is it the phone?

When enabling Device Memory encryption Memory Clean is automatically turned on and can't be disabled. So in my testing reboot time was between 6-7mins. My current config setup is that last test. Since Password is on, I see no need for Device Memory encryption to be on. Without the password you can't gain access to device files. ZonaSnap , QuickLaunch, Blink all preloaded during each test. 8 Email Accounts, about 80 read emails, and 100+ sms, 41 apps anyone that is getting 1-2min reboot please post your settings.
Just tried to upgrade BB Bold device software wirelessly overnight, and whilst device was left on charge. Advisory message after s/w download was that it may take 2 hours, but when i tried to boot device this morning it is completely dead. Desktop software also advises me that it cannot communicate with device.

In a sudden I found that the BB is not working!! Black screen, I removed the battery for several times and it was rebooting only 1/4 and gets stuck, thought of removing the sim card to but I got the same result. I tried to charge the battery but the mobile didn't work to! I bought a new battery it worked for seconds but then it stopped for good! View 6 Replies View RelatedBackground:Bought a bold 9000 the day it was released in Canada. Worked perfectly, maybe dropped it a few times but everything was working. Recently I upgraded to the 9700 and sent my brother my 9000.He had it for a week with Telus (originally on Rogers, and unlocked). He then dropped it off his bed onto a hardwood floor (not very high). Since then it would not turn on, no red LED or anything.I went over all the common steps to getting it working:
-Battery pull
-Take out Sim Card, and battery
-Try connecting to wall charger or pc with and without battery
-Basically everything listed in other posts with the same problem
So the above steps (search for details on them) work for some people, and not for others.So it was dead, he mailed it back to me to try and fix. I tried all the common solutions again with no luck.Then I decided to try something else.How I fixed it:You know when your computer is screwed up, and someone suggests to reset the bios settings? All computers have a little backup battery to keep your settings, and keep the clock running on your computer. So even when it is unplugged from the wall and you turn it back on the time is right.Well the 9000 has a similar battery, I am not 100% sure what it is used for but removing it completely solved my problem. I know it is used to keep the time when the main battery is removed - what else i'm not sure.. Mine seems to work fine with it removed. It does not reset any other data it seems, all contacts, email themes and everything are still intact.Once this battery was removed, I put the battery back in and everything works perfectly now! The only issue I have noticed is that the time does not advance once the battery is removed.. Since my brother always has his phone on, and it updates the time from the network there is no big problem with this. -Again, the time works perfectly as long as the main battery is in.Here are the steps, you don't even need to dissassemble the blackberry:
1 - Remove the black plastic sticker on the back
2 - using a small screwdriver (or better yet, soldering iron) remove the small circular battery from the PCB.
3 - put battery back in and pray

I am using BB Desktop version 5 and tried to update my device to OS 5 from AT&T. My Bold 9000 is now dead. My desktop manager stated a fatal error, then my device reset. And the only thing that displays is the Orange AT&T screen. How can I get the device to function again. I did a back up and a sync prior to the install.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI used my Blackberry 9900 ( Carrier : o2 UK, OPerating system: OS 7.1) to make a call and noticed it was running out of battery. I then placed it on my table only to return to find it dead. I have tried everything from connecting the phone to 4 different computers, with and without the battery, I have also used about 3 or 4 other batteries and it still wont come on or show any sign of life. The worst part is whilst researching the issue online, I noticed other people mention a light or a sign comes up but with mine there has been no light, no sign, just DEAD! I tried the App Loader method but no PC recognises the phone when connected. The phone was never dropped or wet or ever misplaced or mishandle. I have had it for just over a year and this is puzzling.

So one day it froze took out the battery put it back in and never turned on. No lights nothing I even tired a new battery completely dead. So I was told my motherboard could be gone and said to return it to rim because of the one year warranty.

I can't delete/press enter/anything.I have a new 9900 that I'd like to transfer the 9700's contents to. The trouble is, I can't enter the 9700's password (which I know) to unlock the 9700-with-dead-keyboard. Also - hte content is encrypted.Is there any way around this? Can I somehow enter the password via bbsak or mcp or something? Or some other tool?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter putting my phone on charge last night, I woke up to my 9900 with a blank screen and a red light that blinks every couple of seconds. No amount of battery pulls would fix the problem. Upon researching for a solution I discovered that this issue is actually a very common problem with the 9900. At this rate, I don't really care about recovering my phone as it seems that the model is entirely unreliable anyway. Just want to know if anybody with this issue has been successful in retrieving files stored on their device. I recorded some important videos a few days back, and stupidly saved it directly onto the device instead of the memory card. Desktop manager doesn't recognize the phone with or without the battery inserted.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was having some issues with my 9900, mainly the touch screen wasn't working. Since I couldn't really use the phone, I left if for a week and know it will not charge.. The phone's red light will not turn on when plugging in and another battery did not work. When you plug it in, the battery charging indicator in the middle of the screen will comeoup showing charging, but after 2 mins the icon disappears and the screen goes black. I have also tried connecting it withhout the battery to the desk top manager to update the software, but it says it cannot connect to device .
