At the top of my screen the unread message icon always displays more messages than exist. Currently, it says I have 1 unread SMS message. When I receive an SMS it will go up to 2. This will happen and it will say 20 bbms or 3 emails but I have yet to find a solution.

Since I did the new update, it's just displaying the badge icon circle (bubble) on the app, but no unread count. With e-mail and facebook I noticed it so far.
When I restart my phone it works, but then anything new after I delete those messages, it just goes back to no display count and a white bubble.
Randomly, my bold restarted by itself (hasn't done this once since I upgraded the OS 3 months ago). Ever since it restarted, it's had the unread message icon saying I have 4 unread messages. I went to every folder and marked all prior unopened and checked to makesure nothing was unread. The icon wouldn't go away, it even stayed with the read star. Overnight, I got 6 new emails, so it told me I had 10 unread messages. I deleted the 6 new ones, and the icon is still there with the read star saying I have 10 unread now
Any ideas? I pulled the battery already twice and nothing
I'm experiencing a weird glitch that no one (including tech support at Verizon) seems to be able to figure out. I have a gmail account set up on my Bold 9650 and everything works properly EXCEPT that I cannot get it to show me the message count of unread messages (which usually should show up in parenthesis when I scroll over the account envelope icon). It seems that this is an issue with the Bold 9650 in particular because I have gotten the gmail unread message count to work on other blackberry devices, but not my (or another friend's) Bold 9650.
When I upgraded to BB OS 5.0 I now have my message indicator default is 10 unread messages. I have gone into SMS, Email, missed calls and have asked to have all messages marked as prior read and it doesn't go away.
so if my day starts with 10 messages marked as unread and I get new ones thru the day it goes up and as I read these messages it goes down BUT never goes below 10.
If I have to reboot due to an app upgrade It may go up, not always but sometimes, I am now @ a steady 14 unread messages according to my message indicator. I really have NO unread messages
So, was using TEXTRA with no issues and then the problem, The icon showed that there was ONE unread message. I deleted the app, reinstalled, same issue. So, now I look for an app that can show the correct number of unread messages on the icon.
I also noticed that after i updated my software whenever I receive a message, the display message indicator at home doesn't indicate the total number of text message i receive but rather it displays the number of contacts who sent me messages. like for example contact A sent me 2 messages. It will only appear as 1 and not 2. how do i solve this problem? Do you experience the same?
I have an unread message icon with a little red circle on my screen. Tried pulling the battery. Have checked all my messages and folders. There are no unread messages. Even updated my Blackberry Desktop.
I have an errant "unopened" mail icon, It was on my old BlackBerry (an 8830) and when I got my new BlackBerry 9650, all was good, until I completed my enterprise synchronization, and guess what came back? now heres the rub, it shows (and as it did before) That it is a "Optimum on Line" email, not the email that is pushed by my enterprise server. So neither tech support will own the problem.
For the past few days my blackberry has said i have an unread bbm message then yesterday it started to say I have 2. I`ve tried taking out the battery deleting all chats and messages on my phone and also deleting bbm all together and even when i did this it still said I had the unread messages. I have no group updates nor have I synced a blackberry messenger contact with an existing phonebook contact. The only thing I think it may be is someone I`ve deleted trying to contact be but I`ve removed all deleted contacts from my ignored list so why arn`t the chats showing up?
My 3720c constantly displaying unread sms, but there are no unread messages in any folder. I think that the problem appeared when a part of a long message hadn't been recieved, and I deleted the message.
I tried to:check internal and SIM storage for unread messagesrestart the phoneupdate the software I Didn't try and don't want to:delete all the messages
My little message notification icon doesn't count how many new messages I have anymore... Not that it's a necessity, but all my other notifications still count, why doesn't this one how to get it to work properly again?
I have about 5 email addresses setup on my iPhone. However, I only want the badge on the iPhone home screen to display the unread count for my primary email address (instead of adding up all the unread emails in all of my inboxes).
For a week now, my torch has the icon in the upper bar that improperly shows how many unread msgs I have. I have read all my messages and it always shows me one unread.I realize it's not a serious issue, but could somebody offer advice on how to fix this? Seems like the OS hiccuped somewhere. Batt pull does not help. Otherwise the phone works perfectly
For some reason my counter option in nova settings keeps turning itself off! It'll work fine for a day or 2 then just stop. Open up settings and it's been switched off.
i went into my text messages- and highlighted them all i accidently clicked mark unopened. then pressed delete (as originally intended) now i have icon saying i have 47 unread sms msgs but of course everything is gone so i cant bloody get rid of anything!
Neither the email icon or the email widget show the number of unread emails. My previous phone (Droid Inc 2) did show how many unread emails were in the account. Does anyone know how to get the icon or the widget to show this? I have an exchange and a mac email set up.
On the main display 18 ( SMS and MMS) message count is displayed. However, after reading all messages, the 18 messages icon remains on the main screen . How can I re-set this to 0?
I bought my first smartphone this past January, the Bold 9700, and I absolutely love it! However, the count for my Inbox displayed at the top of my screen ALWAYS indicates ONE email received, even though I've deleted all emails.Only once did the count go to zero, but I can't figure out why it did, because I deleted mail the way I always do, but a couple days later, it went back to maintaining ONE in my Inbox. What do I do? Besides ignoring it, which is what I've been doing.
I currently upgraded to the new BlackBerry Curve 8530 after having the Curve 8330 for 2 years. For the past week I have had nothing but problems. I pulled the battery out 4 times over the past week, and now I am having some problems with the SMS and MMS Text icon. When my phone receives an SMS or MMS message I click on the icon and read the message, and either respond or do not respond. Then when I back out and go back to my home screen, the SMS and MMS icon still indicates that I have an unread message. There is NO SMS or MMS indicator icon at the top of my screen to alert me of how many messages there are, because there are no new/old unread messages. I tried pulling the battery out twice, and it corrects the problem for a little bit (maybe an hour) and then reverts right back to it's annoying ways.
Please help me out. I attached a photo to this discussion so hopefully it will make it easy for whomever is responding to fully understand what is going on.
I"ve had my bold 9700 for one month. The first 3 weeks were fine, all of a sudden, I keep getting the message icons at the top of the screen, but there are NO messages. I've deleted all messages, texts, phone calls etc., icon is still there. AT&T, nor the blackberry store seems to have a solution. I don't want to have to pull my battery every time this happens (multiple times per day).
Something happened and now every new message that comes into my gmail bb account doesn't have a red * on the icon on home screen. Its as if the message application was already opened but the message is still unread. Anyone know anything about this.
For some reason I have ended up with the unopened message count showing one unopened message. There are no unopened messages on my device. I have cleared the Messages database using the desktop software but the device is still showing one unread message despite there are no messages on my device at all.Any idea how to reset the counter to zero?
please help i have a bold 9700 and have the latest blackberry messenger on the phone. one day i turned it on and the icon at the top of the screen showed i had a new message. after looking everywhere there is no message to be found. after numerous battery pulls and resets the icon is still there. i even brought to ATT today and there reps couldn't help me.
I get the icon showing one message in my messages folder at the top pf the screen even though it is empty. A battery pull does not remove it. Can anyone help with this small problem
whenever i recieve a bbm message i dont get the little red star on the messages icon anymore, im not 100% sure if i did in the first place but it would be odd if i didnt!? emails its the same case i believe (not 100% sure on that one though)i use the imagining mmmooo theme that is in the top 25 free list... does this have an affect upon this?
Recently, my Blackberry Bold 9700 showed that I have an SMS text message that is unread. I tried going into the messages, doing "Mark Prior Opened" and it still shows I have a text message. Then I deleted all my messages in the SMS/MMS icon and still shows I have a message. How can I get ride of this?
The new message icon remains on the home screen even after the messages have been read. It also remains on the Message folder.I was told to remove the battery when the phone is "On" and re-insert it. The icon does disappear only to return when new messages arrive. Is there a permanent solution for this problem? This must be a software problem but no new software updates are available from RIM
