BB Bold 9700 :: Any Way To Use Videochat Service On Blackberry Via Call
Jun 28, 2010
Does anyone know how th connect another camera on the front of their blackberry (preferably bold 9700) for pictures or videos? also, any way to use a videochat service on a blackberry via call or even in something like an app for things similar to stickam.
I bought a second hand bb 9700 3 months ago. I had the phone on pre-paid BIS + Airtime so I could have access to the internet, bb messenger, gmail email, and phone-related uses. The phone worked fine with no issues whatsoever. Last week, I tried calling someone and received the message - Call Failed. I thought it was credit so I tried loading airtime on the phone. When I did that I received the following message: Supplementary Service Error: General Error.
It's been 1.5 weeks and still the phone does not work: The phone has perfect coverage indicator. The phone has working BIS, BB messenger and internet. The phone cannot work the telephony part of it - calls (outgoing/incoming, SMS, MMS). I cannot call anyone, cannot check Voicemail, cannot load airtime. I have tried re-sending service books, hard reset pulling the battery out, manually registering with the wireless network.
i have been unable to connect to blackberry services when using wi-fi.everything works normal using the mobile network.when i check the connection status while using wifi it says blackberry internet is not connected however i can access Internet and browse the internet while all this is going on. its just the blackberry services which are affected.
I bought my gf a BOLD 9700. I live in Singapore and bought an officially unlocked BB. I ust bought the model only, not with a contract from any carrier. My gf uses her simcard but doesnt have a data plan. We dont intend to use the email functions. But we do want to have WIFI on my home network. Been already busy for a few days and have seen several sites and seems that a lot of people have problems with this issue.Inside my router I see there is an IP adress assiged to the blackberry and I see the mac adress of the BB. But the blackberry keeps saying Failed to obtain an IP adress.Other laptops and my IPhone connect instantly to this router. And how to contact the blackberry technical support? Or can I return the phone under warranty?Im not so familiar with blackberry's.I also tried it with my own simcard which does have a data plan with it. But the same problem exists.Already reset the router a thousand times and removed battery from the BB a dozen times..on the BB screen I also see the WiFi is connected to my home network router but the wifi logo doesnt light up.
I sold my at&t bold 9700 and bought a t-mobile version, unlocked it and am using it on at&t and I don't have to pay the ridiculous price of 30 per month for internet service on my phone. really I only need the phone for texting, phone calls listening to music and taking some pictures anywayz. Till phone carriers lower their prices. I will never pay 30 a month for smart phone internet again.
I cant figure out how to get it back..o t mobile w .656..tried everything i read on here... When i try to open it says no service book. Ideas? t mobile tier 2 is braindead and annoying so i hung up
I did the infamously foolish act of accidentally deleting the service book for my blackberry browser on my bold 9700. I checked other threads but everyones solution seems to work but for me.I think there was two icons, one was named "Browser" and the other "Internet Browser" (Correct me if im wrong.) I somehow deleted the service book for the Internet Browser. My service provider is Vodafone Qatar in the middle east and they are still new. I tried to resend service books and i get a message saying I registered my BB to the server and when I battery pull my BB, only one browser icon is still there. Is there any other way to retrieve/restore that other browser icon? I checked the setting to show all my icons and everything but its not there. (I guess I completely deleted it.
Each time I reset or restart my Bold, all these service books are put on my phone automatically. Things like Facebook, AccuWeather, TeleNav, Tetris Demo, ToneMaker Demo, A BUNCH of games and other things. They are not installed but they are links that open up my browser to download them. I delete the service books so its goes away, but after i restart, BAM they are all back!!! this never happened before I got a free month of data service from t-mobile. Or is this an automatic when you get a data-plan? How can I stop or block this?
If I remove a service book related to an app, say Need for Speed, will that get rid of the app all together? For some reason I can't just uninstall the app but I can hide it. That doesn't do me much good because I know it's still back there hiding and peeking back at me.
Rumors are that OS 6.0 will be available to the 9700. For official OS 6.0 release, is the onus on your service provider to provide this new upgrade? Or will you have to get it through other service providers that are more on top of their game and releases new OS 6.0s first? i.e. is it going to be like upgrading OS 5.0 where if you want the latest version, you'd have to use another service provider's OS version?
Currently using the Blackberry 9700. Got it a week ago on a 3-year contract. and have had no major issues until today. For the past 12-24 hours, I have been unable to access anything that uses the Blackberry internet service (BBM, MSN, Facebook and Internet Browser included). I went into "Manage Connections", then "Services Status" and discovered this:
BlackBerry Internet Service Connection: Not Connected
I'd assume it isn't supposed to be like that; I've tried restarting the device several times to no avail.Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?
I have blackberry service on my account - I am able to access the internet but my cannot connect to blackberry internet service so I can use facebook add on, instant messenger and personal email.I have been through all settings with my service provider. Host route, manual re-setting phone, installing updated software - absolutely everything. They have even sent me two new phones, but still no joy.
Upon accessing the mobileemail.vodafone.net site, when i enter my IMEI and pin it states my account is de-activated or suspended - upon browsing the web this usually happens with phones bought from ebay/stolen phones. Note-This is a brand new handset, direct from Vodafone. My account is fine, Vodafone can see no problem and have now told me they are out of answers.
I recently purchased an unlocked AT&T 9700 off of Craigslist. My company currently supplies us with the the Curve 8300 series and I wanted to upgrade to the latest RIM offering. Love the phone, everything that I disliked about the Curve, has been fixed in the 9700 series. My company uses T-Mobile as the carrier and everything works great except the UMA feature.I am guessing that there is a firmware difference between the AT&T and T-Mobile models.
got myself into a bit of a tight spot here. i bought the bold 9700 in malaysia but want to use it in china. but apart from subscribing to china mobile's blackberry service, can i use the bold 9700 without their email enterprise service?
i have checked all the menus and options a gadzillion times, but there seems to be no way around setting up an email without going through the enterprise service.so, i just want to confirm that before i decide to either dump the phone or subscribe with china mobile's blackberry service
I can't receive a call on my blackberry bold 9780 and talk quitely without putting my phone on speaker, If l don't put the phone on speaker l can't hear the caller it goes dead quite.
I usually do a battery pull every 3 or 4 days. I always send my service books by way of my laptop from the T-Mobile website. When I am not at my desk and want to send servicebooks what is the easiest way of doing this on the handheld? (9700)
I am a new BB user and have recently purchased the BB 9700. I have NEVER been able to use the Facebook App. I had downloaded the v1.7 from App world and it never worked giving me the message: "Could not connect because a data service is not available. Please try again later. If this continues, contact your service provider for support"
I deleted it and tried downloading from the link sent from this website for v1.6 and received this message: "Notice Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Facebook." I must state that this is not the only problem I am having, it now seems that Bluetooth doesn't work either.
My Employer allowed me to keep my corporate BB9700 after we switched to Iphones with another carrier. This corporate BB9700 was connected to the BES and had a Data Plan.
After the conversion to the new carrier I did a Secruity Wipe on the device as per the Instructions given however now my Browser Icon has disappeared from my Home Screen however I am able to click on the Browser Icon when I press down on the Menu Button. However when I click on the Browser Icon I receive the following message "Your device does not currently have any Browser Configuration Service Book Entries. Please contact your service provider to enable the Browser on your device." I called Rogers Technical Support however was not even able to get an explanation of what this message means?
My current wireless plan with Rogers does not include a data plan. Is that the reason why I see this message or do I need to reinstall the software? My BB9700 currently has OS5.
Using 9700 on Vodafone UK - Software Version 5.0.0.423..This has happened a few times now. At first I thought it was just me not reading the screen properly. And it only happens now and again.
What happens is that sometimes when I get a call the screen shows the last callers details as if they were ringing again - but it is someone else. When I hang up the call or if I miss the call - the details then show the correct persons details - weird.
If I pull the battery out it all works fine then for a week or two and then starts happening again. It is not a big deal or anything - just a bit strange.
Since 2 days ago my blackberry (BIS) isnt working anymore, edge s in small letters cant send or recieve bbm or mail messages calling my carrier didnt help and al the usual stuff as battery pull, reinstall os didnt work
Now I have an unlocked 9700 AT&T. I am just wondering, if I am going overseas and want to use 9700 with the overseas prepaid BB service and prepaid SIM card, how do I configure my phone so I can get all functionality (BBM, emails, etc)?Right now I have an unlocked overseas 8520 that I am trying to use with AT&T service and I am having problem using AT&T BB service with 8520.
This is my 1st BlackBerry. I've been given a Bold 9700 & I'm over the moon with it's basic features. I've simply transferred the PAYG SIM card out of my previous phone - a Sony Ericsson w302, where most things worked as expected. Regards the BB's other features, I was quite surprised to find personal email impossible to set up & internet to be totally WiFi Dependant. In addition, many apps (eg, msn, facebook, google maps, etc) don't work due to there being no data connection, even whilst using WiFi.
Expecting the need to upgrade to a 3g SIM card, I called orange & was told that I'd need to pay £5/mth for email & 250MB data. I consider this quite objectionable - is that really the deal & will it solve my problems? If that's the best orange can do, what experience have you guys had with other UK carriers on PAYG.
The Bold 9700 has a big prblem with its SMS service because it only shows the 1st sender only and I always think messages coming are from the same guy!! I can not answer because I am not sure of the sender as it doesn't show! what shall I do?
I acquired an unlocked T-Mobile blackberry 9700 late last year and had our IT admin guy in NY adding new user license to the blackberry server and then the besadmin had generated activation password for me. I'm using local mobile phone network in Vietnam (Vinaphone) and had installed its service book into my BB. Nevertheless, after having put in my email address and keyed in the activation password, after pressing activate for about 2 minutes of "Acquiring service connection..." my BB keeps on telling me that "Activation request failed. A service connection is unavailable" although the communication receptions signals from my local mobile carrier is strong and I can browse internet and accessing gmail or yahoo mail using my BB (which mean internet connection is available).
I cannot use my blackberry because the service status has been on edge (small letters), i have tried to get it to change to capital letters so i can use the phone but all to no avail. What do i do please? My bb is a 9700 (white)
I'm using bold 9700 Orange. I've been clicking on the bbm icon for the past three days now it doesn't open. I even tried the reboot solution for like 10 times it didn't work. I removed the battery for 1 hour the problem still persist. It shows on my home screen when I have pings but I can't read. Other applications are working well.
I just got my new Bold9700 and am trying to set it up and failing completely. Part of this may be because I am in Costa Rica. The primary problem is that it is connecting to a WiFi network, but not to a BlackBerry Internet Service. I have a data plan, I am linked to a network here (called I.C.E), and I am connected to a WiFi network, but it will not open due to the lack of Internet Service connection.
My phone is apparently locked, but I am using a USA SIM card, not a Costa Rican one. Do I need to unlock my phone in order to connect to the Internet Server here? As a result of this connection, I also cannot access email or set up BBM.
I have a strange problem since yesterday. Out of the blue my 9700 (5.0.0.442, free device, Vodafone Germany) can no longer connect to the Internet. The connection to the BIS, however, is still there. It lacks only the right service books. Vodafone said that I should do a software update -> so I installed 5.0.0.536. But the problem persists. The Vodafone-BlackBerry support is then determined that posting the service books hang in a "queue" and can not be delivered. They created a new BIS account for testing, even there the problem exists. My carrier says I have to replace the 9700. But I don't think, that this is a hardware problem. Sounds more like a software problem to me, because some service books still arrive:
Wi-Fi TCP / IP Browser Wi-Fi TCP / IP Transport Save Self VPL D2 WAP 2.0 Wap Push Config Vodafone DE MMS transport Provisioning
Akkupulls, resending service books, wiping and new firmware install brought no improvement. I just despair. Every data connection with no BIS requirement works. (e.g. weather apps)
