BB Bold :: 9700 - Call Failed (Supplementary Service Error)
Dec 17, 2010
I bought a second hand bb 9700 3 months ago. I had the phone on pre-paid BIS + Airtime so I could have access to the internet, bb messenger, gmail email, and phone-related uses. The phone worked fine with no issues whatsoever. Last week, I tried calling someone and received the message - Call Failed. I thought it was credit so I tried loading airtime on the phone. When I did that I received the following message: Supplementary Service Error: General Error.
It's been 1.5 weeks and still the phone does not work: The phone has perfect coverage indicator. The phone has working BIS, BB messenger and internet. The phone cannot work the telephony part of it - calls (outgoing/incoming, SMS, MMS). I cannot call anyone, cannot check Voicemail, cannot load airtime. I have tried re-sending service books, hard reset pulling the battery out, manually registering with the wireless network.
I currently have a BlackBerry Curve and has been working fine for a while now, but over the last 2 hours i cant send or recieve txt messages! If i try and make a call i get ''Supplementary service error: General error''. I couldnt find much about this on Google except a hard battery pull while the phone was on, which i tried but still no luck. Anyone got any idea's for me to resolve this issue ? I'm also getting 'Phone not allowed MM#5' when i try an emergency call.
Just wondering if your bold drops calls as frequently as mine does. it seems that sometimes the phone decides to act up and gives me a 'call failed' message whenever i try to make a phone call. I always check how many bars i have and its usually at 4 or 5. sometimes a battery pull fixes this, but other times, the problem is persistent. my old bold 9000 had the same problem, so i'm not sure if it's at&t or blackberries in general.
I have a blackberry bold 9000 that I'm using with at&t on a go phone plan. I have to take the battery out at night to charge because the usb charging port is broken, and when I put it back in the following morning I get the following error message: "Supplementary Service Error: General Error. Along with getting the error, I'm being charged anywhere form $0.60 to $1.10 each morning. I've tried restoring the phone and deleting all the third party applications. I was hoping someone could solve this problem for me.And one other thing, it just started doing this. I've had the phone for about four months, and I just recently started getting the error.
im using BB curve 8520 but my BB got a problem that show "Supplementary Service Error: General Error" after a few minute i send a message or make a call. i have try to take out the battery for 30 seconds and reinstall it again but the same problem occur.
i cannot send or receive calls or texts. this randomly happened i need some support on what to do, i phoned o2 they are useless, ive got full signal and black berry messenger and the browser are working fine?
I have Blackberry storm 9530. I have received after every call the below message:"Supplementary service error: Unknown Alphabet".I do not know why I receive this message. I rebooted the mobile more times and still have the problem.
I just bought a used blackberry 8520 from a mobule service centre because my bb 9000 was stolen . thisphone has some problem everytime I reboot the access bar doesnt reach to end till its not dissconnected , and once I start the phone everytime there is a message SUPPLEMENTARY SERVICE ERROR : SYSTEM FAILURE . I cannot activate my BIS , my BBM. WIFI and other features like sms, normal phone is working perfectly fine though.
I got my 9700 abt 6wks ago, everything was working fine, Then abt 2 weeks ago I started getting "Call Failed" when trying to make calls. Now I get it 90% of the time, and after investigating I can not receive incoming calls either.I have contacted Orange who say it might be a network / location issue, but not sure and have not had any other complaints? However I have not moved and I get this all the time in my house, where as 6weeks ago it was fine. And also when connected in the car driving around in different areas to my home town it still happens. It seems to be a bug on the handset as my signal strength is full 5bars, 3G displayed, etc. Setting under NETWORK MODE - 3G & 2G, if I set this to just 2G then this fixes it!I am running v5.0.0.351 (plat 5.1.0.98).I have tried hard resets, wipes etc, and I finally got Orange to sent me a new handset.Still not working! I have also down loaded and installed what I think is the latest firmware update available for the 9700 from Jordan v5.0.0.442., still no fix so reverted back to v5.0.0.351.I think it might be that I have a weak 3G signal where I live, but switching over to UMA and connecting in my house through this still does not fix it? Is there a known bug that the 9700 gets confused/freezes when trying to switch in and out of 3G/2G/UMA coverage? From Googling Call Failed BB 9700 etc it seems that there are a few others out there with the same issue??? Any help how to fix/what firmware works etc It is driving me crazy because I do not recieve calls, sms etc either!
Does anyone know how th connect another camera on the front of their blackberry (preferably bold 9700) for pictures or videos? also, any way to use a videochat service on a blackberry via call or even in something like an app for things similar to stickam.
I have a 9700 with the tmobile network, and sometimes even though i have full 3g coverage my phone, will tell me that my call failed..I will dial a number then experiance a long silence period and then i message will come up on my phone with "call failed". I am running the .442 operating system on my phone. any tricks or tips on how to solve this?
I am using the blackberry bold 9700,i updated my software and it wiped out my phone,on re-installing all the software's,whatsapp, facebook etc works fine but for some reason my BBM wouldnt work at all,i tried activating my e-mail account(Enterprise Activation) but i keep getting this "Activation request failed. A service connection is unavailable".
I had a curve 8310 on o2 and moved to a bold 9700 still on o2.When i moved i used the desktop manager and did the device switch over, all went well including bbm etc. However whenever i tried to send an email i recieved the error message 'transaction error failure at service' - I tried to log into my bis account online to update my pin but i couldnt log on! i havent changed the password or username since my old blackberry so i cant log on to change it online. on my blackberry when i try to log on to email settings it says the username field is blank!
i called o2 they put me through to geek squad and wanted to charge me to help!!! I havent had the phone 2 weeks yet.Now i think that i need to call o2 again and ask them something like releasing my old pin maybe from my bis account or resetting the bis account, any ideas what i should do or the type of questions i need to ask o2 if i have to ring them again.
For the past few days I have tried installing some applications from the Ovi store but I always get the same error message (in Norwegian): "En kritisk intern tjeneste har mislyktes" (A critical internal service has failed). Why is this happening and what can be done to fix it? I have the Nokia X6, 16 GB, with firmware v 20.0.005. The message appears shortly after entering the ovi store on my phone. It used to work just fine..
Just got my Bold for Christmas and it's just been the greatest phone I've had so far. I decided to leave the OS as is (5.0.0.423) and only installed apps I would actually use (Google Maps, Trapster, ScoreMobile, Poynt, QuickLaunch and WeatherEye as well as the Bottom 8 theme). Everything worked amazingly on my phone until 2 days ago.
Sometimes (7-10 times/day) when I dial a call it says "Calling" for about 20 seconds then says "Call Failed". Sometime I have to retry up to 6 times to be able to make my call. Very frustrating.
My next issue (that appeared almost simultaneously with the 1st one) is that I literally just loose the network. The phone will say "Searching for network" for 4-6 minutes then find it back. So many calls missed and frustration !!!!!
Now to help anyone that might have a solution for me here are some facts: - I own a Bell unlocked 9700 (using it on Fido network) - OS v5.0.0423 - Only installed apps and themes are listed above - My SIM dosent seem to be loose in its slot (one of my older BB's had that problem, cardboard fix!) - My wife is on the same network with a BB Pearl Flip and dosent loose the network

My Blackberry Bold 9900 keeps giving me "call failed" and ''authorization failure" messages when trying to make outgoing calls.Only if I reboot the phone, the call goes through. My network provider already replaced the first bold 9900 with the same problem but now that it is happening to the new phone, I think something else is causing the problem.
i've just got my Blackberry bold 9900, However when trying to transfer a call, and select complete transfer, it says cal transfer failed, I've searched around for help via google but can't seem to find anything.
My Wifi works fine at home(WEP protected router also), but when i enter the right WEP password to school's network, it gives "Failed to associate with the network message"? School's instruction for mobile devices to connect is simple, simply scan and connect with the case-sensitive WEP.I checked and checked and checked i have entered the right WEP, theres just no go.anyone else experieced this? how do I solve this?
I wasn't too happy today when somebody rear ended my car and I was trying to make important phone calls..."WiFi preferred" selected, but the 9700 (OS 593) choose a 1 bar UMA over a 4.5 bar cell signal... Failed calls galore... Literally had to stop what I was doing and tell the 9700 to use the obviously better cell signal...
I have always been able to use my phone with no problem from my home--until a week ago. Since last Saturday, I have been unable to make or receive most phone calls (about 1 in 20 go through). There are absolutely no problems outside of my neighborhood and no reports of service failures in my neighborhood. When people call me, it goes straight to voicemail, and I will randomly (within two hours or so) receive notification of a voicemail.I have already had my SIM card replaced, and today I had my phone replaced, with no solution.
last month i started recieving an error on the phone which keeps saying initialization failed and this prevents me from making calls and it doesnt even load up my simcard...tried my simcard in other phones and it works perfectly..i have tried a couple of sim card in the phone and i still get the same error..and even without a simcard in the phone it still displays the error of initialization failed..i have tried many tips as advised onlike like reloading the software version and all but i still get the same error.
I have a BlackBerry Bold 9650 that i am using for with wifi so that i can still use my bbm i was working fine until 2 days ago and hasnt been a ble to connect to the wifi that i am using i can connect to other hot spots but not the one in the building that i live in i am using a LINKSYS WRT120N router. I have had our adminstrator reset the router and the modem. I have also tried taking the the battery out of my Blackberry for an extended period of time, and I have also tried to manually connect to the network and i still get the same error. If it helps i am in currently deployed and i dont have service with verizon i was just using my wifi connection.
I've only had it a couple of weeks and it has now started turning itself off during calls. So far this hasn't happened at any other time, only during calls.
I sold my at&t bold 9700 and bought a t-mobile version, unlocked it and am using it on at&t and I don't have to pay the ridiculous price of 30 per month for internet service on my phone. really I only need the phone for texting, phone calls listening to music and taking some pictures anywayz. Till phone carriers lower their prices. I will never pay 30 a month for smart phone internet again.
