I cannot use my blackberry because the service status has been on edge (small letters), i have tried to get it to change to capital letters so i can use the phone but all to no avail. What do i do please?My bb is a 9700 (white)
View 1 RepliesOn my Homescreen Instead of 3G/GPRS/EDGE it gives me edge/3g/gprs Which means that BIS isnt activated on my account.I cannot access my Email or Browser because the BIS is not activated,I called my Carrier "Etisalat" Customer support nearly 20 times, And Everytime they Ask me to remove the battery and re-plug! Last time i checked they told me that in their systems it appeared my blackberry's BIS was indeed activated, But on my BB it was still edge, So I think the problem might be from the BB/Sim Card.I have been having this problem 2 months now and I would really appreciate your help.FYI i have tried all these steps(but didn't work):
1.Tried Registering in Host Routing Table
2.Tried to restart My Blackberry(Battery Remove)
3.Changing network mode to 2G
4.Upgrade my Os to 5.0
5.Restoring to factory Defaults
I already have data plan on my sim and few days back all of a sudden the EDGE became small letters. Tried registering host and tried doing hard reset and even tried upgrading OS to 6.0 but nothing worked.note that i had BES account configured on this BB device and everything worked just fine until Thursday October 6th.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using bb 8110 pearl and I used bis plan 2 months ago and everything worked fine for me and I deactivated and 1 month ago I reactivated it but edge is showing in small letters and I called 2 service provider and they told me my plan is activated and it is same as what I was using before. I did everything like battery pull out, wipe out, upgrade and downgrade and sending registration message from host routing table and also tried on-pff data services. I am calling daily service provider but they said my plan is activated and working but I cant get use anything. I read somewhere if pin is blocked by rim then cant use net services. But I don't know even if mine is blocked. In status I can see pin and imei.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed a program from app manager , I dont remember the name of te application...everthing was installed correctly...then later I uninstalled and restarted the device.....but now the device only shows me a lot of small letters and restarts again. when I try to flash the phone in a xp 32 bit computer the system shows me that the driver is corrupted....and dont let me do the flash proccess wiht the maemo flasher 3.5.

Specifically, mine are " 120 1/6" I'm was thinking 120 contacts and 1 of 6 ongoing converstations or something to that effect, but even when I close them out...it still show 1/6. What exactly is this trying to tell me? Also, when powering down the phone what is the difference in the two options? 1 is "turn off" the othe is "full power down" or something like that. What is the difference? I want my phone off to save battery, but I want my alarm to go off in the morning. Which reminds me, what is "Standby Mode"? Noticed that holding the mute button a few seconds put the device into that mode.

I can understand that it's important to know, if I would be using line 2 accidentially, but since line 1 is the default, I don't want to know about it. So how do I get rid of this ugly "1" on top? View 4 Replies View RelatedAm using BB 9700 and am having problem with my BBM status message is not changing since over a month now, I have read in some forums tha I need to make my BBM contacts less than a 100 to make it change and I don't like this solution since I don't want to delete my friends any one can help.By the way if I add new contact he will see the current status message but for the old contact they will keep seeing the old.i have a dozens of friends having the same problem please RIM we need a propper solution.

This is really annoying because then it predicts a completely different word to the one I initially meant to type. Also, the issue is only with Samsung Keyboard, swiftkey works fine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else having problems with dropped calls when switching from UMA to 3G? Where I work I do not have a signal in the building, so I keep my WIFI on so I can both make and receive phone calls while inside.
The problem occurs when I'm on the phone and step outside. I lose my connection with the router, and instead of switching from UMA to 3G, my call is dropped, and it takes my phone about 10 seconds to find the 3G signal.I was hopping that upgrading the .442 would solve the problem, but it has not
Always maintained a very strong 3g signal, 5 bars always no matter where I was. The last 3 or 4 days my signal started dropping like crazy to EDGE - edge - to gps or whatever to no signal. Did everything to try and fix it. Called T-Mobile about the problem and they said no problem we are sending you a new 9700. I will have it Wednesday afternoon. I asked if it will be a new one or refurbished, she said a new one. You can't beat that with a stick. They have the best customer service out of all the carriers. Just wanted to tell my recent experience with my carrier.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently moved to a brand new AT&T BB9700, it is just awesome, the best change from an old Curve. The thing is I'm having serious problems with the Battery. I'm having annoying and unexpected "blackouts" or "shutdowns", wheterver you may want to call them, with an apparently perfect battery level. Please take notice that the first charge of my BB9700 device was for a full charge as indicated by some of you for 16 hours.
Ever since, I'm having a perfect 3G and EDGE connection, been very careful not leaving open applications, but there are times, when having let's say 30% to even 60% apparently battery level, that the BB9700 completely shuts down, unoperative, without any kind of alert! No low battery led, or indication on the screen whatsoever. This is freaking me out, because this is not supposed to work like that.
I've been reading that there are some of you that have a perfect full day or even more of a regular "BB usage" meaning email, conversations, web browsing, etc. I'm 90% sure the Battery is damaged or faulty, so I need you help to guide me if there is something I'm doing wrong (I think not , and besides need your orientation on how to ask RIM/BB for a replacement battery if effectively my battery is not working as it should, and as I paid to be working!
I sold my at&t bold 9700 and bought a t-mobile version, unlocked it and am using it on at&t and I don't have to pay the ridiculous price of 30 per month for internet service on my phone. really I only need the phone for texting, phone calls listening to music and taking some pictures anywayz. Till phone carriers lower their prices. I will never pay 30 a month for smart phone internet again.
