BB Bold 9700 :: 3G Icon - Whats Difference Between 3G Fluctuating - Big And Small?
Mar 5, 2010
whats the difference between the 3G fluctuating between big and small? Is it like EDGE and edge or it something different on the new 3G handsets? I thought the BB logo was what meant it was connected to the BB network. Any input? Im running the new 9700 OS that was released today and 3G seems better but I noticed its changing alot.
whats the difference between these two phones. At present I have a Bold 9000, which I love dearly. However, I want to upgrade soon,I just want to know what am getting into. So once again just what are the differences if any between the two?
My Blackberry Bold shows the small letters CM over the battery icon when the charger is connected but it will not charge. I've tried removing the battery putting it back in, I've tried 3 chargers, but the battery just continued to drain until it finally went into red. I've been "googling" all day and cannot find any reference to what I'm seeing.
After Upgrading my 9700 to OS 6 there has been serious memory issues with my device. I am always shot of memory on the device. I had to uninstall my GPS apps and many utility software.I feel the 512 MB onboard memory is too small to OS 6 which take up lots of space.
i have one piece of 9700 and i live in the UAE and have a 3g contract with my provider. But when i use the mobile it shows small edge icon and not big one.My simcard works in another bb 9700 but not this one, can anyone help me out?
when I'm in sms application, there are small numbers that appear in the upper left corner of the device. Specifically, mine are " 120 1/6" I'm was thinking 120 contacts and 1 of 6 ongoing converstations or something to that effect, but even when I close them out...it still show 1/6. What exactly is this trying to tell me? Also, when powering down the phone what is the difference in the two options? 1 is "turn off" the othe is "full power down" or something like that. What is the difference? I want my phone off to save battery, but I want my alarm to go off in the morning. Which reminds me, what is "Standby Mode"? Noticed that holding the mute button a few seconds put the device into that mode.
I cannot use my blackberry because the service status has been on edge (small letters), i have tried to get it to change to capital letters so i can use the phone but all to no avail. What do i do please? My bb is a 9700 (white)
Strange new to me icon ... it looks like a DirectConnect with an envelope like a message or mail over it.... NEVER have seen it before. Time for the tinfoil hat and wait for the black helicopters ?
Some one added a small globe/world icon to the right of the number icon (123) at the bottom right of my screen which when pressed opens to the right revealing a ton of images and special characters that is the most help addition ever! I don't know how it was added as I want to see if I can add it to my iPad Mail
Info: Mac Pro 3.0 GHz Quad-Core, iPad WiFi/3G, iPhone4, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 30" HP Display, 22" Cinema Display
I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but I woke this morning to see my Yahoo email icon back on my home screen. Has anyone else gotten it back? And lastly, how do I change it back to a stock BB icon?
I just got the bold 9700 ver. 2 from ATT and don't have the phone icon. It is not hidden, I looked, and not in any other folder. All I have is a phone icon that is for Visual Voice Mail, which I am not signed up for and don't want to be. When I click the VVM icon it says do you want to sign up and I hit No and it just kicks me back to the main screen. How can I get rid of the Visual VM icon and get the Call log icon?
When I get a new SMS, it is the same as a new e-mail icon. However, this is not supposed to be so... SMS's are supposed to be a slanted envelop. I never had this problem with my old curve 8320. I've also had this icon issue since I got my phone several months ago. The icons remain the same no matter which OS version I use. I am on T-mobile.
I've been trying to figure out what this is' but i can't find anything about it in the manual or on any sites. I can toggle it so i feel like it's supposed to do something...
There is a small icon on the screen (only had blackberry two weeks) there is usually a number next to it, it was 4 earlier and now its 3, it's a circle and it looks like an arrow with a small red mark on the end of it, what is it and how can I get rid?
When I used to use Nokia N95, I could check my web email and use Whatsapp, Gtalk, Yahoo Messenger, Skype - just by using a Wi-Fi connection.A couple of weeks ago I bought a Bold. I was told that I can do what I used to with my Nokia simply by switching off "Data". I did that, but then nothing works. I couldn't send nor receive any Whatsapp and chat messages. When I switched "Data" back on, Whatsapp works, but it is using up my minutes (hence, my provider's internet connection), and NOT the Wi-Fi. Gtalk and YM didn't work even with Data being on. Forget Skype - I couldn't even download it.So I took out the SIM card from the phone, and only then did Whatsapp work using the Wi-Fi (Gtalk and YM didn't). I was also able to surf the web. BUT then ... I can't make/receive voice calls and SMS! Not good.
How can I make sure that the apps that are actually able work independently by using Wi-Fi do so in BlackBerry without touching the network's internet connection? There must be a way to do this, because it is doable in my Nokia. I even only have a pay as you go SIM card!
For the last few days I have a small icon in the status (top) area with the shape of an envelope seen from the stamp side. (screenshots attached) I don't know what it means... I have searched manuals and references from different phones without luck (I got very dissapointed with the information regarding this matter)
X10 min pro:When phone is in airplane mode the status bar shows a sim icon with a small red cross in top right corner, when airplane mode is off it dissapears and the normal signal strength bars appear. If I take out the sim card and put into airplane mode the icon does not appear. What does the icon mean - is it normal for it to be there when in airplane mode?
All of a sudden, the SMS icon on my home page went away. How can get it back? I was changing some alert settings and maybe changed something, but I can't figure it out.I have a 9700.Please help.
This showed up on my phone after a reboot of it yesterday, what is it?I have checked Twitter, my email, App World, voicemail, and texts and it was none of those.
my bb 9700 i have blackberry map in it (options-device-application managment) but there is no icon of blackberry map . I search of the every in the mob . I even downloaded the icon from WWW.BlackBerry.Com/BlackBerrymapsbut its notworking and the icon not even there.
Multiple times throught the day my BB wil have a little time clock icon that shows up and while it's there the phone is delayed and I can't do anything with it until it goes away. I found a thread that suggested that I make sure I check all my running apps, which I did and shut down all but the defaults and the icon would still pop up. Is anyone else having this problem or know of a solution to this?
My curve is operating really slowly and when I try to open or send a text or open a mail, I get a very small clock icon appear. After about 20 secs, the text or mail opens. Not able to send any e mails either. Thought too many stored mails may be the problem but device won't now allow me to delete. Battery also running low after just a few hours, even after fully charging.
This isn't a big deal but I'm just wondering. I have a sms icon and BBM icon that won't go away even though I've made sure I checked all my messages and even did 2 battery pulls. What's the deal?
I have a Bold 9700, AT&T, v5.0.0.602 (Platform 5.1.0.112)I will look on my phone and there will be the envelope icon telling me I have 3 messages (as an example). The message folder concurs, it tells me that I have 3 messages. Yet when I open the Messages folder there are NO MESSAGES. I check my 3 email folders and NO MESSAGES. These envelopes won't go away. I took the phone to the nearby store where I purchased it. The kind gentleman took out the battery and replaced it. That took care of the problem for one day, then the icon reappeared. I took it back and the lady told me it was a "phone issue" and that under warranty I should get a new phone. So I did. A day and a half later, more envelope icons. I'm not taking it back again.
