Xperia Mini/pro :: (SK17i) Random Crashes Due To Memory Management?
Jan 16, 2012I got my Xperia mini pro (SK17i, Android 2.3.4, firmware 4.0.2.A.0.58 after update) a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, trying to activate my Google account during the setup procedure crashed/rebooted the phone twice in a row before I managed to complete the setup. Afterwards I have immediately updated to firmware 4.0.2.A.0.58 but still have experienced the occasional crash about 2-3 times a day.
Usually it happens when doing stuff with the phone. I have read that there is a new firmware update coming our way (4.0.2.A.0.6x) which is supposed to fix some memory management issues. Indeed, the last couple of times I have experienced crashes, the "crash log" in /proc/last_kmsg has shown Unable to handle kernel paging request (+ a nice trace) just before the kernel panicked and rebooted the phone.

Jun 25, 2012Finally the ICS update has become available for my phone (SI 1253-7151) -PC Companion pops up a message about the new update. If I click "Update", PC Companion starts downloading the update, finishes the download and says "Preparing computer for program updates".
Then it proceeds to "Unable to install or start components for update of phone system" and my phone does not get updated.Then I have tried Sony Update Service, but now I can't even start it properly; the program crashes right after opening it. It just says "Synchronizing" and then "An unexpected error has occured. The application will shut down." so I never get any possibility to see why.Again, my phone does not get updated. Since both programs crash there must be a serious problem with the downloaded files (and they're probably shared between the programs?).Apparently I'm not the only one experiencing it; I can see in a Norwegian forum that other people have the same problem - and in the original thread that you have hidden (!).
PS. The original thread was not mine; I just replied to it since I had the exact same problem. Regarding the new "moderation strategy" I believe that the above question is not rude, it's not spam - and reposting the question is necessary when the issue has not been resolved and the original thread has disappeared..

Jun 13, 2010Just wondering if anyone other unlocked people run into a problem where they get NO SERVICE. And their phones are all laggy.. When you try and restart it its toast, wont boot or anything.. Causing a complete restore...Im running AT&T on Telus but I dont think thats the issue.

I tried to wipe partitions, make a factory reset, format partitions, flash stock 1 file and stock 4 files (with pit file inside). Jan 25, 2010A few days ago I was running the VZW official .713 OS. Then, I think I installed the latest BBM. After about 12 hours of that, I started experiencing random crashes triggered by actions (not particular actions). I add a contact, it crashes. I boot back up and add again, it doesn't crash - something like that with various other actions like me locking the phone using the left lock button, or snapping a picture, etc.I didn't attribute this to BBM and so figured to hell with the official OS and installed a hybrid (Yes, I'm aware that it's not a supported OS bla bla, but it started with the official .713 so there is merit to this). And upgraded to the new BBM. Installed apps, etc. Battery was draining by 2-5% every 30-45 minutes. Crashes were happening and I wouldn't know till I had to use the phone again, at which point it starts the boot process.I uninstalled the latest BBM and downgraded to the previous stable 5.0.0.66 and it is still going on.
I'm running out of options here.I checked the event log for the time it crashed and encountered only one fatal error:Any help would be appreciated as I don't know what else to do except for installing the old BBM and no other applications. In which case, no point of the phone. I've been using the phone for the past 2 months with no problems..If someone wants me to email this to someone at RIM, that's fine too as I don't know how else to go to them.
Xperia X10 :: Computer Crashes When Trying To Update To Android 2.1?
Feb 6, 2011I've been trying to update my x10 to Android 2.1 I can't get past the stage where I have to turn the phone off and turn it on again with the back button pressed when connecting the usb lead.The phone starts up but the computer freezes up. I have to reset the computer to get it going again. I've tried turning off my anti virius software but this made no difference.

Apr 23, 2010I have recently updated to v50 firmware. I did first OTA, and then through Ovi Suite. I am experiencing several issues, the most severe of which is a substantially patchier internet connection. The internet connection worked well previously, but now it's a coin toss whether it will or not. This change coincided with the update. The auto-rotation has also become substantially slower. I have tried reinstalling the firmware, resetting the phone, rebooting, removing battery and SIM card, to no avail.
I am very happy for Nokia to be updating the firmware for a phone that came out a while ago, so this is just constructive criticism. I am overall happy with the phone, and all the improvements are very welcome. The main issue I had been experiencing was random crashing of the browser, and occasional random reboot from the phone.

It was pretty slow before, but now it's unusable. I have tried app killer applications and tried deleting messaging history but it just can't seem to handle a simple request.
