I've been trying to update my x10 to Android 2.1 I can't get past the stage where I have to turn the phone off and turn it on again with the back button pressed when connecting the usb lead.The phone starts up but the computer freezes up. I have to reset the computer to get it going again. I've tried turning off my anti virius software but this made no difference.

View 7 Replies View RelatedFinally the ICS update has become available for my phone (SI 1253-7151) -PC Companion pops up a message about the new update. If I click "Update", PC Companion starts downloading the update, finishes the download and says "Preparing computer for program updates".
Then it proceeds to "Unable to install or start components for update of phone system" and my phone does not get updated.Then I have tried Sony Update Service, but now I can't even start it properly; the program crashes right after opening it. It just says "Synchronizing" and then "An unexpected error has occured. The application will shut down." so I never get any possibility to see why.Again, my phone does not get updated. Since both programs crash there must be a serious problem with the downloaded files (and they're probably shared between the programs?).Apparently I'm not the only one experiencing it; I can see in a Norwegian forum that other people have the same problem - and in the original thread that you have hidden (!).
PS. The original thread was not mine; I just replied to it since I had the exact same problem. Regarding the new "moderation strategy" I believe that the above question is not rude, it's not spam - and reposting the question is necessary when the issue has not been resolved and the original thread has disappeared..
I just updated my Z3 (d6653) to 5.1.1 using pc companion and now i'm getting random app crash. Tried everything but one, fixing using pcc.

I have tried rebooting, doesn't help.I sync my calendar with outlook through google. There are some semi-advanced entries there, ie meetings with replies. However, problem persists when I disable that calendar from my outlook.Calendar data is accessible for my agenda widget. Data shown on the widget is even updated when I add data to my google calendar.

But after that, I am observing crash or hang issue very frequently and even power off also doesn't work in that condition. Only option I left out is to remove battery and put it again so that it will shut down the phone and I will be able to start it and use it. I got to know if you format SD Card and repair your phone through PC Companion, then this problem will be resolved. I have done the same but still m facing this issue but less frequent than previous. And to add to this, I observed that it generally crash when I open GTalk.

Suddenly without updating anything i plugged it in my computer to charge it and as soon as i connect the connector the phone shuts down with the red light flashing. I reopen the phone to charge it into the wall... Same thing as soon as the connecter enters, phone crash. So I have no way to charge it. I thought it was a battery default so I bought a new battery. This was a pre-existing problem before but it was solved by checking USB debugging (or vice-versa). But after the software upgrade to 4.0.4, I get the blue-screen-of-death and the computer crashes every time no matter which setting I choose for the USB debugging. This makes it almost impossible to transfer files between my computer and phone.

Okay, I called Customer Support, and they told me that the Firmware isn't released for US AT&T yet, and they are currently working on it. Well I WANT IT NOW, i mean i have seen firmware 2.1 and it seems legit and I don't want to do a generic or flash(or whatever its called) because I don't wanna mess up my phone. and then not be able to download the actual firmware, or crash my phone and break it ya know? I installed android 2.1 today but for some reason I can't restore my contacts.I followed the instructions on the sony ericsson webpage and used the SE backup software to make a backup of my contacts, mms, photos etc.When I restored everything after the update everything was restored except my contacts. How can I get my contacts back? Is there some way to extract them manually from the backup file or something? The backup software can't seem to restore them for me...
