Samsung Galaxy S II :: Numbers Made Available In Text Messaging?
Apr 7, 2012
I keep accidentally texting people's landline phones. Is it possible to stop Android rather stupidly offering me people's home numbers and email addresses when composing SMS messages?
My text messaging has stopped showing the name of the recipient / sender, instead on the list screen I see the phone number, but for some reason the international +1 has been inserted in front. The +1 is not in my contacts, hence the phone no longer recognises the number as a specific person. It is not on all the numbers, just some of them. how to turn this off, or alternatively, to have all my numbers with +1 in contacts?
I have problem with texting with the phone so far because I cant receive incoming text (confirmation code AIM, etc). I can text conversation with my friend only if I text them first, otherwise they cannot reach me through text.
My contact list seems to have automatically imported all of my email contacts from all 4 of my email accounts into my contact list. This makes it really cluttered, andc I'm not sure I really want any emails in there at all, let alone all my ones from 12 years ago.
When I am texting using messaging it takes a Long time to load previous messages a long time to type or press the send button. It only freeze when I'm using messaging any other app is fine to use it have rebooted the phone turned it on and off and cleared cache anything else I can do before I send the phone back
I'm not able to add any Instant Messaging accounts at all. Every time I try to add an account through the Social Hub and through the IM app, I get "Error Occurred".I was able to add Gmail and hotmail but I can't add any of the IM programs such as Windows live messenger and Google Talk.My phone is factory unlocked, stock kernel XWKF3.I tried calling Samsung for support, and they just told me to send the phone back, but I know it's not a problem with the phone.
I'm using Samsung galaxy s2 unlocked from bell. ISP: Fido prepaid account, with unlimited texting add on. I am unable to recieve picture messaging (MMS). Does it require data to recieve data and are you able to use your wifi to recieve mms? When i receive the mms, it just keeps saying download. I have tried enabling data packet but that doesnt work. My VPN settings is:
Name: Fido Internet APN: fido-core-appl1.apn Proxy: Not Set Port: Not Set User Name: not set
Is there any way of getting the actual phone numbers to show when in the "Contacts" screen instead of just the contacts name. If I want to look for a phone number, it means that I have got to click on each contact name to bring up the next screen with the phone number etc on it and then click back to the contacts screen and keep doing it all through the list of contacts.
With my old HTC Desire it used to show both right at the start.
I've tried the 'blacklist' option but it seems that people can find out that I've blacklisted them. Is there a more discreeet way where they can't find out?
When I use the back button to exit from messaging and check in task manager messaging always shows as still active and I can only exit it from task manager. This also happens if I exit messaging via the home key.Would any one know please if this is usual and if so is there a way of exiting messaging so that it does not remain active in the task manager, or is this a fault?
Don't have the new phone yet, but knowing one is symbian and the other android I want to make sure there's an easy way to do it since I have more than 300 phone numbers that I need to keep.
Unless I am in Ultra Power Saving mode, the only options I get for text messages are Delete and Copy Text. I don't get the other options such as Forward.
I use the stock Samsung messaging app.I did something and now every time I write a text the print is quite large. It's rather annoying, I pinch it smaller but it's a pain to do it every time. How do I set smaller text as default?
I just restored 23k messages from my old Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (T959) onto my new Galaxy SIIX using the SMS Restore & Backup App as recommended here and now it lags for 10s everytime I hit 'back' to get out of a conversation and back into the main window.
I opened the Messaging from one of the shortcuts at the bottom.I checked my message. I clicked the back button twice to reach my home screen.I can see that my Active applications shows that Messaging is still running?I had to "Exit" from Messaging through that.My thought was, when I hit the back button frmo the Messaging screen, it should close/exit that from the background (i.e.) it should not list in the Active Applications window?
How to resize it and keep it that way? I use the pinch feature to make it smaller but when I exit the app and go back to it it reverts back to the default size. I went into the settings and there is a font size selection, but it never changes the size.
Somehow some of the contacts on the "Messaging contacts list" have mixed info. For instance the name doesn't match the picture or the name and picture do not match the related cell no. (1) How do I delete the contact entirely? (2) How do I edit the related info? (3) What if for instance my contact changed their cell no. and I need to edit the list or the info on a particular contact?
I have an unusual issue I would like some assistance on since I just got a blackberry, I have the Curve 2 8530. I use Total Call Blocking with my carrier so that when I call anyone my number is automatically blocked / restricted. Therefore, in my contact list, I have my friends or family contacts listed with the *82 in front of the number to unblock for those people. This works fine for phone calls.
However, on Text Messaging / Picture Messaging, the *82 will cause these messages to fail. I am used to LG phones, you have the ability to edit the number while creating a message, before your send one of these messages. The problem I am having is when I send a Text Message / Picture Message it appears from the blackberry as only the 10 digit number (even though the contact has *82 in front of it)...and the message shows it is sent (with the check mark) but it NEVER received.
After rebooting my phone last night all the existing messages and phone logs show only the numbers and no names or photos. When I go into the contacts I can see the contacts and numbers but there is no link between the contacts and the messaging or phone app.
I have checked and the filter setting are correct. All accounts are syncing ok too.
My old Xperia TX is encrypted. So "Xperia Transfer Mobile" app and "PC Companion" are not working here.
Internal "Backup & restore" app exist on both phones - my new Z5 and TX and serves the same way - it can back up all text messages (and other data which I don't need to transfer) and it does work with encrypted phone! First it asks for password for decrypting and then works fine. I'm saving my backup to SD card. I'm inserting SD card to Z5 and trying to restore with same data but... BnR app can't see saved data on SD card!
I made some researches on content of backups and I see they using different formats for backups. Different files structure, different files contents and different metadata format.
i have Iphone but I used a Samsung Galaxy mini before and with the new phonenumber and different size of simcard i need to know how to save all my contacts and get it in my iPhone ?
When I receive a multimedia group text, the texts only show the originators number and not the other Group numbers.
This phone is a SAMSUNG GALAXY 6, using Android 5.0.2
Other suggested truning on Group Conversation or Group Messaging in the settings , but that option does not appear.
The instructions I received are below , but like I said, it did not show up on the settings. Is there a difference in the Android versions that would cause the menu to be different or the setting to located somewhere else?
1.) Go to main screen 2.) Go to messages 3.) tap MORE AT TOP RIGHT OF SCREEN 4.) SELECT Settings 5.) SELECT MORE SETTINGS 6.) SELECT MULTIMEDIA MESSAGES 7.) TURN GROUP CONVERSATION ON
