Samsung Galaxy S II :: Messaging Always In Task Manager As Active?
Jun 21, 2011
When I use the back button to exit from messaging and check in task manager messaging always shows as still active and I can only exit it from task manager. This also happens if I exit messaging via the home key.Would any one know please if this is usual and if so is there a way of exiting messaging so that it does not remain active in the task manager, or is this a fault?

I opened the Messaging from one of the shortcuts at the bottom.I checked my message. I clicked the back button twice to reach my home screen.I can see that my Active applications shows that Messaging is still running?I had to "Exit" from Messaging through that.My thought was, when I hit the back button frmo the Messaging screen, it should close/exit that from the background (i.e.) it should not list in the Active Applications window?

I recently upgraded from the S4 to the S6 and love it.On the S4, it was very easy to access the task manager and end apps that I didn't want running or end RAM that was making my phone slow down. When I first got my S6, I found where the active apps list was and was able to end apps and RAM. But now I have completely forgot. I know it's in the settings somewhere, but now I can't seem to find it.I know about the recent apps button on the front that allows you to end apps, but I'm talking about also being able to end RAM, as I have noticed my phone is beginning to lag like there is too much of something running, even though there are no apps running.

Now - I know this isn't a major issue but it bothers me that this does not work. I have set up the settings so they are -supposed- to remain on at all times but alas they are lightless. I've done soft resets, pulled the battery, plugged it into my computer and the wall, BUT the buttons still work.

In other words if I put a program/app on this list such as say Google Map and then later need to use that app, will this program shut down in mid use? Or does this list just mean that it makes sure that idle processess are 'ended' when not in use so that it doesn't bog down RAM? Is there a good instruction manual on the features such as these for the X2, or should I look at something like the Bionic's user's manual since it comes with Gingerbread and should have some verbiage in regards to the task manager?

How does one setup the task manager properly? Which tasks and processes can be killed? What can I do to create a better D2G? Is the task manager really a good idea? Why do some applications keep starting when I kill them?

Got my Razr updated to ICS today!! It now runs on android version 4.0.4 The graphics seem to have got an adrenalin boost... :) I wanted to get some more clarity on the following:as the task manager app been done away with? In the earlier version (2.3.6) there used to be an app called task manager. Here you could opt to close applications automatically once you move away from them. I presume it was to ensure optimisation of battery usage. In the new version the only way to accomplish the same seems to bring up the list of running apps - by long pressing the home key - and then swiping off the app - which you dont want running in the background - from the screen. Wouldnt the automatic closure of apps be a better option? Is there any way to get back the automatic closure feature in the current version?
In the previous version one could personalise the notification ring tone for the arrival of mails in the corporate mail inbox. This feature seems absent in the current version. I wanted to know if it still can be done? A distinct ring tone for mail arrivals is a good nice-to-have feature. Thirdly, i observed that the battery consumption seems to have increased post the ICS install. Is it just me or have others also noticed the same?

I have been having a lot of issues with my phone saying it is 98%, 99%, 100% busy with the Task manager alert and it is clearly running slow, but never seem to find the culprit app/program. I have the settings within Task Manager set so I can see the system/core Apps. In generalthe Email Engine (synced with my company outlook web exchange service),Motorola services & Android System tend to be the top 3 apps running. Occasionally, Yahoo mail will be in the mix as well. The highest I've ever seen a single app (email engine) is 25% and the remaining ones are lower. In general, the apps never add up to 100%. I end the things that are using 0% of the CPU, but a few megabytes of RAM thinking that will free up resources and this seems to work, but frequently I find I need to reset the phone.
For context, I am a former BB Bold user who loved how quickly and seamlessly my email and calendar worked w/ the enterprise exchange server at work. Without my calendar synced I won't know how to function and the Droid XPRT has really helped because my work and home (google) calendars now all show up in the same place. When this is happening I find I am on the run, reading/writing email on the email engine via corporate sync.

Just bought a Droid Xyboard 10.1. It's beautiful with a fast processor, but it lacks an application that'll enable you to kill the application or pages that you've recently opened. Is there any other application that'll add an option by the page or application to delete it?http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/12/droid-xyboard-10-1-review/That's what keeps popping up when I search for any other applications. I believe it would be a lot more efficient if the Droid Xyboard had the same layout as the Asus Transformer Prime regarding the "X" on the side of the applications that I've opened/viewed.Does anyone know of any amazing application that describes what I'm talking about

Any way to delete ALL the apps and web pages that show when you click the recent apps button (the little square icon) in one fell swoop? I've got hundreds of pages there when I touch it and trying to X them out one by one is taking a long time. Even if they're not somehow slowing down the system, I'm not particularly thrilled with anyone being able to see the content. It actually shows the body of emails you've read or written, texts, Facebook comments, etc.

In an effort to "squeeze" as much life out of my battery as possible I decided to take a Moto Rep's video/recommendation and use the stock Task Manager to turn off selected apps 2 minutes after screen off. This strategy worked pretty good on my Pro, but it doesn't do so well on the Razr. After monitoring the stock Task Manager now for a week, it appears that it does not turn off selected apps after 2 minutes of screen off. We all realize the battery demand on the Razr and there is a lot of experimentation going on (that is a good thing) to develop settings (Smart Actions etc) that prolong time between charges. It would be nice if we could have an effective Task Manager (stock and Moto approved) that would be another "tool in the tool box".

I know we are at the point that some of us are giving our reviews of ICS while the rest are waiting for their update to happen at all... but here are a few things missing that i have noticed..first, Task Manager. is it not needed at this point or did the assume we would just download one? i used mine instead of using a task killer ( i know i know that debate is an old one) but i miss having it on there.omeone else mentioned the "in pocket detection" was also gone. I used mine with and without it and never really saw it a difference. mine is in the otterbox holder most of the time, and in my pocket only off work. but its still gone.
the other is the3g only, which has already been discussed and told how to change it anyway. I downloaded the app which is an HTC thunderbolt app that was recomended on the droid news n guide app, but i cant tell you if it works lol.. im hardly ever in a 4g area.while there are a lot of good things in ICS and the fact that it looks so different does give you the "new phone feeling" i wonder why these were taken off.

There is an option in the task manager under its settings to show system apps. When you do it will show that the Android system is running at 25% of the CPU. You can refresh this and it will remain the same.
I'm curious, is that because it is taking a snapshot of what the CPU is doing right at that moment (which would be refreshing the Task Manager list) or is Android really constantly gobbling up 25% of the CPU? Seems high if it's the latter...

I have the Motorola Task Manager installed on my froyo. Unfortunately I can't uninstall it, so I'm left with what at first looked like a very good Task Manager. I use a programme called PowerAmp Android. It is a music app. I doesn't matter what I do; not add it to auto close, not adding associated programmes to auto close, the programme ALWAYS closes down my player two minutes after the screen is turned off.
I can keep the screen on while I listen to my music, but that has obvious side effects.

I'm trying to watch movies on Netflix with my Droid Bionic. Every 45 minutes Task Manager interrupts and states that the app has been running for 45 minutes and is consuming battery resources. At this point Task Manager asks me if I want to continue running the app. I can't find any setting to disable this. Netflix is not on the "end" list for Task Manager.

Over the past few days I've run into something new. I've gotten a number of high cpu usge notifications in the notification bar, but when I open up the task manager to see what is running amuck, the total displayed cpu usage looks small. how to track down the culprit? No new apps, but lots of updates recently, and I really don't want to start randomly deleting apps till I find the one causing this (I've got about 100 apps installed, of which I use probably 10-15 on a daily basis) As a side note my extended battery lost 50% of it's power while plugged into a computer via usb in 3 hours... That has never happened, the computer usb charger has always been more than enough to stop any power drain (while streaming pandora, and connected to bluetooth headphones).

if the information was here, but I have run several searchs and cannot find it. I am having a problem where the stock music player stops playing after approximately 30 minutes. Several internet searches suggest setting the music player to never auto end in the task manager on the Droid X. Only problem is I cannot find where the "pre-installed" task manager app is located to check the auto-end list. I have looked though all of apps in the "app tray" and also explored the settings under settings-application management.

First time I've gotten this alert. Not rooted. Was in dock all night.Pulled it out of dock and within moments I got an alert I've not seen before, in the status bar.I went to the task manager to see what it was all about and the OS was using 54% of the CPU.Moments later it jumped to 80+ percent. It kept moving between 50-ish and 80+ from moment to moment.I ended up shutting the phone off and restarting it.After doing that, no more alerts, but the first time I checked the OS following the restart, it was at 27%.Basically, it's now using a minimum of 16% and sometimes more than 25%, but never more than roughly 30%.IS THAT NORMAL?oh, and as a test, I put it back in the dock for a moment or two, took it out, and no "high CPU usage" alerts.

I have upgraded my defy yesterday morning and then it hang 3-4 times. So I did factory reset yesterday night. But now also problem remains it hangs some time, the new upgrade has Task Manager, but it keeps showing CPU: 100% alert. I wonder if only my maps and browser is open, why does it show the sign? Now also while I am typing this from mobile, it is giving same alert with only browser running. Isn't it made for multi-tasking? And also (problem not of topic) my market's page doesn't upgrade itself. It keeps running on old format.
