Samsung Galaxy S II :: Blocking Calls/messages From Certain Numbers?
Aug 29, 2011
Or is there an app that can do it?
I've tried the 'blacklist' option but it seems that people can find out that I've blacklisted them. Is there a more discreeet way where they can't find out?
bought myself an asia 210 and was told that i could block messages and calls as getting them off ppl i no loger talk to,yes i could change my number but not as easy as thought, just need to block and was told by carphone warehouse i could but cant work it out
Sometime in the last week, a post was made asking how to prevent an unwanted person from contacting her via SMS messaging. She can block his phone number directly, and/or just not answer "unknown caller" attempts. (could just direct those to a silent ring/disconnect)
I was browsing aimlessly thru the internet and just came across this blurb: (*Text blocking not available on Android 4.4/KitKat) found it here: [URL] ....
and this blurb: • Starting from Android 4.4, Google has revoked SMS/MMS permissions from developers. Due to that fact, LINE whoscall will not be able to block SMS/MMS for Android versions 4.4 and above. Call blocking feature is not affected.
If that is actually true, as of today we have no way to block unwanted SMS messages.
I was reading all of the info on different Caller ID apps to see if any of them are worthwhile.
it is possible to set default numbers in my phone for text messages and phone calls for individual contacts? I would like to set up the phone so it defaults to mobile phone numbers for text messages, so I don't accidentally try to send a text message to a landline.
is there any way off blocking certain incoming numbers or groups on X3-02 i get a lot of unnecessary people ringing me i have looked but cant seem to find any way of doing this?
There has been an upsurge in complaints on the AT&T Community forum about spam texts from 1410100001. Some have said they will block that number and then get spam texts from 1410100002, and then 3, etc.
Most of these texts come overnight and those who don't have their phone on silent are awakened by the spam. I discovered on my LG G3 that by going into the menu on the native messaging app and finding the number I blocked as spam, there is a label "same as". If I click on that label, it offers several choices, one of which is "starts with". So rather than block individual numbers, I can block all numbers that start with 1410100. I'm sure this will work, although I'm not going to spend time testing it out.
Wife's phone, HTC One, does not seem to have this blocking option, although she has been spared from receiving the spam texts.
Is there an app you can get to block numbers? But still be aware that they are text/ringing you? I don't want to have to ring up my phone provider to do this as they may only be a occasional caller. I used to have an app like this on my sony ericcson xperia! Surely apple have one?
My contact list seems to have automatically imported all of my email contacts from all 4 of my email accounts into my contact list. This makes it really cluttered, andc I'm not sure I really want any emails in there at all, let alone all my ones from 12 years ago.
Is there any way of getting the actual phone numbers to show when in the "Contacts" screen instead of just the contacts name. If I want to look for a phone number, it means that I have got to click on each contact name to bring up the next screen with the phone number etc on it and then click back to the contacts screen and keep doing it all through the list of contacts.
With my old HTC Desire it used to show both right at the start.
I keep accidentally texting people's landline phones. Is it possible to stop Android rather stupidly offering me people's home numbers and email addresses when composing SMS messages?
Don't have the new phone yet, but knowing one is symbian and the other android I want to make sure there's an easy way to do it since I have more than 300 phone numbers that I need to keep.
My 920I Galaxy S6 has stopped receiving calls, either if I am using the phone or it is locked I won't receive any call, I have to restart my phone to get the messages of missed calls and call them back. I tried many different modems, bootloader, roms and firmwares and nothing has worked. Also, I tried both on WIFI and 3G/4G and it doesn't work.
I cant seem to find a way to block calls & SMS ( no sending to voicemail or archived messages) Im looking for a method similar to what CM roms offer where I can have both blocked and no notification or even a trace that a call/SMS came from the said numbers. Is this possible on the stock rom w/o 3rd party apps ?
My issue right now is that I have two people being blocked in iblacklist. But today it was blocking all calls and SMS from all my contacts and other numbers that are not in my contact list. Like I said I only have two contacts on the block list, so what is going on here?
Does anyone know how to block Internet access on this phone? Despite using the device exclusively for phone calls and texting, Telus keeps billing me for data usage. I have requested that they disable Internet access on my phone, which they claim to have done. But now they tell me they can't guarantee that the phone won't be able to access the Internet. Dumb, or what? Are there internal settings on the phone that will disable this function, but not prevent me from phoning or texting?
I have a Bold 9900 and am constantly receiving spam email (i.e. purchase Viagara etc.). How do you change your settings or setup a rule to block these unwanted messages? I know how to do this with my Hotmail account but can't find any instructions in this regard for the BlackBerry.
Started to get to grips with my S2 after switching over from Blackberry for business. Must admit, i'm quite enjoying it now! I still use an iPhone for personal so it's quite nice to have the comparison..Anyway, sitting at my desk with my headset on I would love to be able to answer my client calls and reply to SMS by using my PC instead of the phone itself. It may sound lazy but it'd be so much quicker to just stick it in a USB dock or something and then not have to worry about it again all day.Is this possible? I've seen something called MOBILedit but the reviews don't seem too clever.
I was wondering where blacklisted calls go to? Do they go to my mailbox or are they just getting cut off? I'm getting slightly spooky phonecalls. Does not hide his number, so I could blacklist him and I think I can sill see in my log when and if he calls, so i was just wondering where his calls end up.
