I have a Bold 9900 and am constantly receiving spam email (i.e. purchase Viagara etc.). How do you change your settings or setup a rule to block these unwanted messages? I know how to do this with my Hotmail account but can't find any instructions in this regard for the BlackBerry.

There has been an upsurge in complaints on the AT&T Community forum about spam texts from 1410100001. Some have said they will block that number and then get spam texts from 1410100002, and then 3, etc.
Most of these texts come overnight and those who don't have their phone on silent are awakened by the spam. I discovered on my LG G3 that by going into the menu on the native messaging app and finding the number I blocked as spam, there is a label "same as". If I click on that label, it offers several choices, one of which is "starts with". So rather than block individual numbers, I can block all numbers that start with 1410100. I'm sure this will work, although I'm not going to spend time testing it out.
Wife's phone, HTC One, does not seem to have this blocking option, although she has been spared from receiving the spam texts.
Ive had my bb 8900 for a couple weeks now. I downloaded the facebook app & was annoyed to find out Ive got to sync up email address to get fb messages on the app.
I dont want to change my email account I use for fb, but I also dont want to get a notification vibratation & flash on my phone every time I get one of my 2000 daily spam emails
Is there any way to block text messages from one person. I added the call blocker pro, but it only blocks calls not text.

New spam emails being received on samsung s5 are disabling the ability to tag them as spam. This only leaves pressing unsubscribe which could be risky or delete. Meaning there is no way to stop future emails.

I have recieved 2 spam e-mails in my gmail account. I deleted them imediatelly, including them in the trash.
But for my surprise, they are now in my calendar, and I cannot delete them. They are in a grey color, circulated by dots and are impossible to edit and delete.

Every once in a while I would get one SMS message from an unknown number which was spam. Today, for the last 4-5 hrs, I've been receiving numerous spam SMS msgs from 2 area codes in the Atlanta, GA area that are 3 different mobile numbers, and some of which are from the same repeating mobile number. View 4 Replies View RelatedSometime in the last week, a post was made asking how to prevent an unwanted person from contacting her via SMS messaging. She can block his phone number directly, and/or just not answer "unknown caller" attempts. (could just direct those to a silent ring/disconnect)
I was browsing aimlessly thru the internet and just came across this blurb:

and this blurb: • Starting from Android 4.4, Google has revoked SMS/MMS permissions from developers. Due to that fact, LINE whoscall will not be able to block SMS/MMS for Android versions 4.4 and above. Call blocking feature is not affected.
If that is actually true, as of today we have no way to block unwanted SMS messages.
I was reading all of the info on different Caller ID apps to see if any of them are worthwhile.
Or is there an app that can do it?
I've tried the 'blacklist' option but it seems that people can find out that I've blacklisted them. Is there a more discreeet way where they can't find out?
Ever since I got my phone, I keep getting this email notification of Mobile Email OZMAIL. I never had gotten this from my old phone (Motorola Karma Q1) so I'm wondering why it keeps popping up. I believe it's a text message, it's not an email. It's reallly annoying and I want to get rid of it.

Between this and the inability to sync properly, they really screwed up the email app.

My phone can do everything except get on the Internet, if I try to get on the Internet it takes me to this bogus site that is clearly trying to get my information. It fronted as an email from my college and the government Fafsa...grrrr! Why are people so evil???? I've searched this forum and (surprisingly) not found any references to what is possibly the most annoying "feature" that RIM has introduced since I've owned a berry. By providing the broadcast function in the newer versions of Messenger, my berry is now subject to the same stupid, irrelevant, inane and/or unoriginal jokes/rumours/prayer request-type junk mail that I strenuously guard my email inbox against. However, while I can set up filters and rules to block such unwanted email messages, there are no such controls present in BBM and the only way to effectively counter repeat offenders is to delete them from your contact list, which is a sledgehammer vs nut solution, to say the least.
In my list of contacts, there are certain individuals who regularly send out such broadcast messages and then there are others who are thoroughly irritated by them, like myself, but then compound the situation by sending out aggravated, ill-tempered broadcasts complaining about previous messages. When you have a couple hundred contacts, it really can get quite ridiculous at times on days when a popular joke or meme is making the rounds.
So, I would like to request that the BBM dev team seriously investigate adding a "Block Broadcasts" option - ideally on a per-contact basis, but I would settle for an all-or-nothing solution as I'm willing to sacrifice the 1% of useful messages I get if it spares me the disruption of the other 99%. If my own contact list is anything to go by, I'm not the only one who would be hugely grateful for this to be implemented as swiftly as possible, or am I the only grinch in the building?
I have a problem where email sent from my Blackberry is going into the recipients spam/junk folder. If I send the same email from my Outlook it goes to there inbox. I have tested the behavior with 4 different recipients who work for different companies. The Blackberry is setup with BIS via OWA and is on Vodafone.

For some reason, when I type in the letter M in the "to" field of a new email, my contacts who start with M will come up, along with a third random email address that starts with an m. I don't recognize it (it looks like a spam address actually) and I've never written to/from it on my iPhone.
Where did it come from and how can I get rid of it? I've tried restoring and then re-setting up my email accounts but that didn't get rid of it. If it makes a difference, the phone was purchased brand new from the Apple store. I'm the only one who's touched my phone.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOn my previous phone (HTC One X) I could choose to not sync particular folders (like spam) to my phone, but on my LG G4 it syncs all spam (or other folder contents) directly to my inbox, meaning I get a regular stream of notifications about junk all day every day - it's beyond irritating now. When I go into mail settings and select "show all folders" there is no spam folder or any of my other Yahoo or Gmail folders, so all mail, including spam comes straight to my inbox. How do I set the default email app to properly show ALL folders and set syncing so I don't get spam synced to my phone?
I'm hoping I've just overlooked something simple and my upgrade hasn't meant a reduction in simple functions! If there's no way to do it in the default app? This seems such a ridiculously basic function to omit.
