Samsung Galaxy S II :: Icons In Applications Won't Save
Dec 30, 2011
i am using fw 2.3.5 on my phone which had been updated through kies a while back. one thing that it annoying me a little is the applications and when i arrange them how i want they change when i reboot.
most pages stay correct but the main page 1 keeps changing from how i set it on rebooting.
About every third or fourth time I switch on my phone all the icons have disappeared. Switching off and back on works, although sometimes I have to do that a couple of times.
I have had several occasions on turning on my AT&T Galaxy S2 phone where all 7 of my screens were blank except for the 4 icons at the bottom. In fact, every screen had a message in the middle saying to drag items to add them to the screen, like it was *supposed* to be blank. Before today, turning the phone off and on again resolved this.In fact, when I clicked on the Applications icon at the bottom, got nothing but a spinning circle. After a minute or two, I pulled the battery, returned it, and powered up again. This time, everything is again normal. But I am concerned. This phone is just 5 weeks old.
I saw a video of guys Droid where the icons could be spun in a 3D circle on one home-screen. All the launcher apps I have seen rotate multiple screens in 3D.
Since I upgraded to ICS when I take a photo it will not save to the gallery. The photo is captured but when I touch the picture it displays the message No items. I have tried switching between saving photos to the Phone and Memory Card to no avail. My Picture Gallery, just shows the pictures from my Google+ account and Drop Box not those Ive taken. I am on Three in the UK with the latest firmware version:
I am connecting successfully to my pop email account, and am able to send/retrieve without issue. However, as soon as I pull email from the pop account on my home computer, I lose all of the messages on my phone. Isn't there a way to download messages onto my phone and keep them? I don't see an option to flag or save individual messages, or to move them to a folder.
I often download images from the internet on my phone. I use them for making contact pictures, schoolwork,or even to just to enjoy images as backgrounds on my phone. However my phone is no longer allowing me to download anything! I do what I have always done, I hold down on the image until my phone asks if I want to save it,I hit save, and it says the image is downloading. But when I go to my downloads it says image has failed to download...
I thought maybe it was just from a certain site that my images wouldn't download. But every site I go to the download is failing. Then I thought perhaps somehow I used up my memory. But I have lots of memory left. I tried the simple method of rebooting my phone, and that too has not worked.I don't know what else to do!
ay i have 2 active applications, do i have to go into the active applications page to clear to clear exit all applications !!what i mean is, if i go onto messaging then stop it it, still tells me on the home screen i have one active application, then i need to click on active applications and click exit
Is there a way to either send an entire message thread ( sms and mms ? ) from an SII to another galaxy user so that they can see the thread in it's entiretyi.e. times/dates , sender/receiver etc , OR save the entire thread off phone to a laptop
Whenever I take a picture it saves to my cloud my email my Picasa everywhere how can I make it only save onto my phone and then if I want it to backup on the other accounts how can I manually do that? I'm tired of every picture I take save everywhere so then I have to go delete them all individually...
I usually close all the active apps from the Task manager to save the battery of my s2, after doing that i checked the RAM and clear it but there's a message that says for example 8 application were closed, so where this apps came from???
i have a problem with my Samsung galaxy S2 nowadays with following detail: i can't use any application via wifi but can use all by packet data. FYI, my connection to wifi is fully correct and is in coverage area and normally signal strength is excellent, it mean i don't have any problem to connect to wifi in all places same as home, office or any other places. but i'm wonder that why i can't use any, yes any application even simple factory pre-installed applications same as google search when wifi is active but if i turn off my wifi and using packet data, all, yes all of applications working properly. FYI, my all applications worked properly before this problem raised (i'm not sure but seems my problme appeared when i backed from china trip which i changed my SIM card in china with a Chinese SIM card) so, i believe there is some mistake in setting which maybe occurred
As a novice SG S2 owner I would be grateful for the opinions of more experienced SG S2 users as to what the battery life should be for someone who's a low user of the phone and its applications?
For example how long should a full battery charge last for someone who makes very few calls and receives very few calls per day sends less than 10 texts per day and receives less than 10 texts per day, plays no games and surfs the internet very infrequently and plays music very infrequently? In other words the phone spends more time on standby than it does in actual operation.
I was experiencing slowdowns on applicationss accessing the SD card for storage and caching. Among them are browsers like Dolphin, applications like Twidroyd, and news applications like Huffington Post. It helped with some of the applications by setting their storage options to internal memory, but the best solution so far, without rooting your phone and adding some MODACO mod, is to go to Settings, go to Managing Applications, go to Running Services, look for something that mentions DRM, then kill it.
Killing this does not harm the system, as I tested this already, and it speeds up access to applications that cache on the internal SD card. Of course, another way is to disable all SD access, and everything flies. But I find killing DRM services works well. DRM services is not part of the standard Android set, since I don't find this on the HTC phones, so killing it won't harm anything. Killing off Samsung's own slow ware such as Daily Briefings and the social Feeds widget may also help speed up the UI further, but on the other hand, these widgets can also be useful for some people.
I have a SGS2 that is one year old, I still use gingerbred 2.3.3, and I haven't attempted anything special prior to getting the problem. I first noticed I had a problem when I booted my phone yesterday: booting took much more time than it use too, but then it worked. After entering my password, I got access to the usual page, but then, pop-ups appeared one after the other saying: "Sorry, need to close the application "name it". Thanks for trying again" (don't know what's the precise wording in english because mine is in an other language... still, you get the picture). The phone still works for calling, SMS and a bunch of apps... but applications like facebook, twitter, lookout, dropbox and a few games won't boot anymore.
Other things I noticed: - I lost a few apps (at least 2) that disappeared completely from the phone - I can't erase the cache when accessing settings/storage. Also, it won't recognize the SD Card space availability in the storage section. However, when looking at it by accessing settings/applications/memory usage, I can see what are the apps on my SD card. - There is no correlation between the apps that have problems and the ones found on the internal SD memory card. - Over the past month, my phone would sometime reboot after being closed. Didn't happen frequently, but I read this could be linked to the USB port? Anyway, just saying it here while I'm typing something. - Finally, I have the feeling the OS version is not the one i had previously (downgraded?) because several apps asked to be updated after rebooting the phone a few times. Just I feeling because if i changed the OS for an upgrade, it was over 10 months ago.
So that's it. I already tried booting with the three buttons trick to erase the cache in basic mode: didn't changed a thing.
I've downloaded a couple of Apps from BB App World. JavaJazz and PayPal. The download was OK & I looked through JavaJazz after downloading but now I can't find an icon for either so can't open them. I was expecting to find icons on the home page or in the Applications folder. I'm sure it's very simple but I just can't find them.
I just got my 9700 from Rogers, it came with OS v5.0.0.743 on it. However, I can't find the icons for BB Maps, Application Center, and AppWorld ! I checked in the "Applications" and it says they are installed.
My Storm 1 keeps selecting applications when I try to scroll down my application icons without the screen clicking in. Also when I try to type it selects the letters or numbers when i highlight them without the screen clicking. Everytime i touch the screen it selects what i touch without me pushing in on the screen.
I'm using a Black Berry Bold 9700 and I just recently updgraded to the new BlackBerry 6 OS. I took a while for me ro adjust to the changes. What I'm having problems with is when I try to update an application via the BlackBerry Application World it always prompts me that my device has less than 5MB of memory left. With the BlackBerry 5 OS, I used to get a message on where I want to save the file (same goes when downloading) but this does not give that option. I have more than enough space in my memory card. Another issue is I have themes saved in the memory card but for some reason I can't activate them. I can see the themes in the BB application world and can even see them when I hook the phone to my pc but I'm unable to look them up when I go to the change my themes via the display option.
