Samsung Galaxy S II :: Does Flashing It Restore 3G Capability
Aug 16, 2011
my SGSII losing its capability of using 2/3G networks - (i.e. no green and red arrows). I can connect to wireless networks but that's it, which is pretty frustrating when I'm out and about in town, out of range of wifi, and want to check something on the Internet, etc.So now I'm faced with the unwelcome prospect of sending my phone back to Vodafone to get repaired which means 10 working days without my phon? would flashing my SGSII bring back my 2/3G capability? If this was the case, then I'd obviously do it, and be saved from sending my phone away for 2 weeks. Currently I am on Stock ROM, 2.3.3?
I want a state of the art android phone with a physical keyboard, that a poor college student can afford the plan for. (I'm on PagePlus using the $30/month for 1200 min, 1200 texts, and 50mb data.) That leaves me choosing between the Droid 2 and the Samsung Epic 4G. I prefer the Epic because of the super 16gb micro SD. My current phone is a Samsung, and it's served me well for about 2 years now despite being dropped all the time
Question: Can I flash a Galaxy S Sprint Epic 4G onto Verizon to use PagePlus? I know Sprint uses CDMA, which leads me to believe the Epic could work on Verizon's network (which PagePlus uses), but beyond that I'm clueless. Can anyone tell me if this is possible or not, and if so, where to look for more information?
Firmware used was I9100XXKP4_I9100OXAKP4 via the sam mobile site.I used Odin3 and although the download had 7 files, I only used the CSC, MODEM and code files.

I have tried several times to flash to KG6 (I think it is) 2.3.4Every time it will show I have android version 2.3.3So can a 3 UK locked phone stop me flashing the firmware of choice?
I got my Galaxy S2 this morning i had a HTC Sensation previously i backed everything up using ES File explorer everything has been transferred over to my new phone music pictures etc it's just the sms i don't have a clue how to restore
i made a backup of my gs2 with kies pc , and it was successfully done and saved, then i made a full reset of my phone and after that i am trying to restore my phone via kies pc with the same file but.after it says "preparing to start restore process" if gives me the screen "data restoration has been interrupted due to an error please retry........"
I rooted my phone some while back in order to do backup. Now I need to restore to original - completely. I have the USB key/dongle if that matters. Are there any easy step-by-step how-to that describes the process to restore so that the phone isn't rootet and there is no programs left that isn't original?
I accidently deleted the full contents of the "Camera" folder.ll the photos and video that I had taken in the last 2 months were lost. ( I know I should have backed them up...but I was planning to do it today...not thinking I was going to do something stupid last night!)I have a hunch that the files might be able to be restored...possibly using some sort of restore/recovery software.I have tried 2 software programs so far...Piriform Recuva & Stella Phoenix Photo Recovery.he problem is that neither of them recognise the Samsung Galaxy S II as being present, even though it is plugged in and showing in "My Computer"So...does anyone know of software that does work.
I have an unlock code for my phone and want to give it a go. I have backed up all my app settings and config to Google servers.I have backed up all contacts etc seperately to PC.Do I also need to back up my apps or will Google Play take care of that for me?
Recently I changed phone from sony x8 to Samsung Galaxy min, but before I changed phone, I did backup for all contacts, apps, etc.The backup file from Sony X8 is .sbf file and cannot restore into Samsung Galaxy mini even though both phone are Android.or can I download software that runs .sbf file on my computer to get all contacts?
A couple years ago my wife bought a Samsung Instinct M810. I flashed the phone to Verizon so she could use PagePlus. Everything has been working fine but the phone has really been beaten up. About the only thing that still works is the speed dial function.
A few days ago I found another Instinct in mint condition for her. I have been trying to flash it to Verizon with limited luck. I activated the phone with PagePlus and received a phone number ( I was planning on porting her number when I had everything working). The phone connects to Verizon but it can't connect to OTP. If I dial a number I get connected to Verizon with the message "Welcome to Verizon, unfortunately we cannot identify your phone, etc."
The problem is that when I dial *22890 (or any *228xx number)the signal bars vanish and there is an indicator showing no service and the call is dropped. After the call is dropped the signal returns and I can again connect to Verizon. I have tried several PRL's, even the one on my wife's current phone but it doesn't make any difference. I didn't have this much trouble with her other phone so I am at a loss.
I've lost the 4 digit user selected security lock code which is required to reset the phone.Virgin says Samsung should help recover the code and Samsung says Virgin should help recover the code.A while back, I found a code on the web that allowed me to go into a service menu which listed among other things the lock code. I can't find any information on how to get back into that menu.
By the way, yes, I tried the last 4 digits of the phone number, 0000, 9999, 1234.If anyone knows how to get into the service menu on this phone
The only codes I've found so far are:##786# which gets into an info menu but doesn't have the lock code.##33284# which requires a 6-digit security code which I don't know.
I have attempted to search this forum for my answer but unfortunately I have not been able to come across it. Thus, the dreaded "new thread".But seriously, small question.I recently acquired my long sought-after SCH a990 monster flash .bin. I was just curious which program I should use to flash my phone; that is, which program should I use to flash the .bin onto my a990?
I just purchased the Samsung Omnia i900 cell phone from this one guy on Craiglist.com. This is a Verizon Phone and the guy had it flashed to Metro PCS. I bought this phone, thought I could use it for Page Plus Wireless. I had my old number ported over to the phone already and now I can't make a call out.
My Questions:
The ESN number is clean, how come I can't make a call out?
Is it because the phone was flashed to a different network and I have to flash it back to Verizon Network before I can use it?
If I have to flash it back, can someone show me how to flash this phone back to verizon network?
I have already asked both verizon and metro to flash the phone for me and they won't do it.
I have flashed my Cingular 3125 extensively but it is getting too old and back won't stay on. I have modified all I can on Blackjack II (sgh-i617) w/o flash. It's on Win Mob 6.1, I want to change the start-up pic and sound, I know this is a bit of an older issue but can anyone gimme a link or advice on how to progress? Everythings unlocked Subsidy,CID, etc, experienced and have many tools, just have not been in the loop for awhile.
I was restoring a twrp backup and when it reaches "flashing system image" in the restore process it just reboots. Ive tried a few things but cant get it going. It just bootloops.
I am attempting to flash a Samsung T819 unlocked Tmobile branded device. I have acquired the updated firmware for the device and am attempting to use Multi-Loader V 5.40 to flash the firmware. I am unable to force this phone into any sort of boot/recovery mode in order to load the firmware, attempted using OPTI FLASH no success. If anyone has any further instructions in order to flash this device on new firmware
when the 9900 will support UMA? I've been told that a release to patch the OS (since the harware is capable but the firmware isn't) is coming 1st qtr 2012 - no sign yet.
I'm new with S6 development. Been playing with SONY devices since 2011. So the question is, can I flash a 920F stock firmware on a 920I device? Will brick my phone? Does it need a special process to make it work? I really want to flash 920F on my 920I and I need to know if its secure.
My boss and I just bought two BlackBerry Torch 9810's under the impression that these phones had the ability to use the phone as a mobile HotSpot. At this point it appears that this function should be availble in BlackBerry OS 7.1. As far as I can see Sprint has just released this update about 3 days ago.I really need to know when this will be available for ATT Wireless, as that is our current provider. My boss is already planning on taking his BlackBerry back to ATT within his 30 day period so he can get a Droid that already has this function if we can't get some reassurance that this option is indeed going to become available and soon.I on the other hand, have had my phone for two months, but would rather have a BlackBerry over a Droid any day, but I did have the expectation that I could use the phone as a HotSpot or at least tether over WiFi, or else I may have sucked it up and gotten a Droid (even though I prefer BlackBerry).
Recently I've downloaded the last firmware from Vodafone Spain for the SM-G920F model using the wonderful SamFirm windows exe. The first time I got a ZIP file containing all the partition images and the second time ("Binary Nature" selected) I got the typical four files for the four ODIN'S fields.
Now, here comes the doubt, which of them should I flash? I mean, does the four files format include the PIT file for example? Or there are no differences between doing it using the ZIP file or four files format? Which is the better format/way to install it completely clean?
I'm about to fully flash my device back to stock. I have a o2 UK variant s6. I have downloaded the correct 5.1.1 rom via sammobile. However the worry I have is about the bootloader, do I have to do anything with it.
So, I want to flash the latest version of TWRP to my 920i ... My only question is this..
- Flash the new TWRP 2.8.7.1 (the one for Android 5.1.1) with Odin
This one for the normal S6 models & This one for the Edge models
In Odin 3.10.6, which option do you select to flash TWRP? I'm assuming BL is for bootloader, CP is for modem - what do you use for the recovery? AP, CSC, or UMS. I don't want to select the wrong thing and brick my phone.
