I got my Galaxy S2 this morning i had a HTC Sensation previously i backed everything up using ES File explorer everything has been transferred over to my new phone music pictures etc it's just the sms i don't have a clue how to restore

( I know I should have backed them up...but I was planning to do it today...not thinking I was going to do something stupid last night!)I have a hunch that the files might be able to be restored...possibly using some sort of restore/recovery software.I have tried 2 software programs so far...Piriform Recuva & Stella Phoenix Photo Recovery.he problem is that neither of them recognise the Samsung Galaxy S II as being present, even though it is plugged in and showing in "My Computer"So...does anyone know of software that does work.

I can connect to wireless networks but that's it, which is pretty frustrating when I'm out and about in town, out of range of wifi, and want to check something on the Internet, etc.So now I'm faced with the unwelcome prospect of sending my phone back to Vodafone to get repaired which means 10 working days without my phon? would flashing my SGSII bring back my 2/3G capability? If this was the case, then I'd obviously do it, and be saved from sending my phone away for 2 weeks. Currently I am on Stock ROM, 2.3.3?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased a 16gb micro sd for the phone. Copied files to it and inserted it into phone. When phone is connected to usb the card mounts and I can see it from the PC and copy files to it. When I try to browse the card from the phone, it is not found. I thought I had formatted it FAT32, but of I look at card properties in file explorer on the PC, it says 'File System: Generic hierarchical'. So I'm thinking perhaps it is not formatted properly. If I am to try another format, is it best to let the phone format it, or do it in a card reader on the PC first? I'm worried if I let the phone do it I may wipe my internal SD by mistake.

Yesterday it unmounted, and now I can't get the phone to recognise there's a card installed (I've tried 2 different ones). View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a 32GB SD card to my Galaxy SII and moved most movable apps to it. However, now I need to copy some stuff from my PC to the 'internal' SD card and I can't connect to it.
I do the regular 'USB utilites -> Connect storage to PC' routine, but all I get on the PC is the external card.
How can I access the 'internal' SD card without physically removing the external one? BTW, I'm on official, non-rooted ICS 4.0.4.
Is there some way that I can backup the sim card contacts only to my PC?I have tried using Kies but although it can bring up my phone contacts, it will not bring up my sim card contacts.I am using ICS.

Also I've created a folder on my SD card called "Camera" for my pics and videos. Set storage for camera to be on memory card. When I take a pic it saves pics and vids under DCIM in the external SD card. Is there no way to save pictures OTHER THAN DCIM? Even rename it won't work?

At first it was all good, but then last week, I started noticing the battery started draining quicker than normal. Usually, I can get around 10 hours of use, but this went down at first to 8 hours, then rapidly plummeting to 6 then 4 hours. The shop where I got the phone from advised that it could be software corruption or faulty battery, and they were happy to send the phone off to Samsung to get it checked out, but I decided to run a few tests myself. I bought myself a genuine Samsung high capacity battery (I need it anyway), and installed it. I noticed that the battery drain was still happening, so it was not faulty battery. Then I decided to try removing the SD card.
View 6 Replies View Relatedmy PC can't read it any more. When I plug it into the card reader, it is detected, but always with a message like "The disk in drive H: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?". The card seems to work fine in the phone, all the data is available. I didn't used to have this issue before, but I wouldn't be able to tell you off hand when I last used the card via card reader.
So my first guess was that some recent firmware upgrade may have changed the filesystem on the mem card. I downloaded the ext2/3 drivers from ext2fsd.com , but that didn't help either. I haven't yet had a chance to connect the phone via USB directly and explore the card that way, but it usually takes quite long to transfer files that way. So what can I try to get Windows to read the card? Is it a filesystem issue? Has anybody seen this before?I am running Android 4.0.3 on Samsung firmware (I9100DXLPA).
ive had the s2 now for a day and a half and when i transfered my sim card into my phone it didnt contain any numbers so im prepared to manually enter them all. however with adding my email accounts and facebook alot of my contacts have appeared but i dont want them all. ive got it to only show contacts added to my phone so i have three entries in yhe phonebook but texts and calls are picking up the names from my syncd contactsif i remove the accounts from contacts settings accounts , does this delete all the details from yhese accounts so will my email contacts be syncd and removed from my address books on my email account

I also tried to change the setting of the email app to save all messages to the SD card, but it would not allow it.
I have to use my phone in mass storage mode in order for it to be seen by my car stereo (Alpine x305s). However, It appears that you can only access the internal memory of the phone in this mode. Strangely, it does have a folder called external_sd, but this seems to reference a folder on the internal space. How I can access my external (32 gig) card.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've lost the 4 digit user selected security lock code which is required to reset the phone.Virgin says Samsung should help recover the code and Samsung says Virgin should help recover the code.A while back, I found a code on the web that allowed me to go into a service menu which listed among other things the lock code. I can't find any information on how to get back into that menu.
By the way, yes, I tried the last 4 digits of the phone number, 0000, 9999, 1234.If anyone knows how to get into the service menu on this phone
The only codes I've found so far are:##786# which gets into an info menu but doesn't have the lock code.##33284# which requires a 6-digit security code which I don't know.
I recently lost my SD card to my blackberry 9810 and am attempting to restore the files onto a new SD card to a computer. I had automatic backups set up from the Blackberry desktop manager and Blackberry protect. I was under the assumption that these backups also backed up information on the SD card. Unfortunatley, when I tried to restore my phone using a blackberry desktop no old files where restored to my new SD card.I have read an old post that says the automatic backups do not backup SD card documents but am unsure if that is still true.Is there anyway I could restore the files using the backups?
