So far my SD card has unmounted itself twice, and I've had to remove the battery and reseat the card. Yesterday it unmounted, and now I can't get the phone to recognise there's a card installed (I've tried 2 different ones). Running Gingerbread 2.3.4 standard Samsung firmware, no network customization and not rooted.
View 1 RepliesI purchased a 16gb micro sd for the phone. Copied files to it and inserted it into phone. When phone is connected to usb the card mounts and I can see it from the PC and copy files to it. When I try to browse the card from the phone, it is not found. I thought I had formatted it FAT32, but of I look at card properties in file explorer on the PC, it says 'File System: Generic hierarchical'. So I'm thinking perhaps it is not formatted properly. If I am to try another format, is it best to let the phone format it, or do it in a card reader on the PC first? I'm worried if I let the phone do it I may wipe my internal SD by mistake.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have not had this problem before Gingerbread and have just now noticed it after backing up some SD card data to my PC.Turns out that, when I connect the Droid X to the PC and the SD card is unmounted by that process, several icons disappear from my home screen. It appears to be apps that have partially installed themselves to the SD card (I have not manually moved anything to the SD card or installed apps there because I still have several gigabytes of space on the phone itself) and only those apps. Interestingly they appear to only be games (Angry Birds, Need For Speed Shift, The Sims 3...)I ran an experiment on the phone itself and simply unmounted the SD card and, sure enough, the same apps disappeared from the home screen after I replaced them. Then I did it again by connecting the phone to the PC and again they disappeared.
So this only happens when unmounting the SD card for me. I looked through as many postings on this as I could and I do not have any of the apps mentioned that may be causing this problem, I have gigabytes of free space on both the phone and the SD card, RAM is not filled, and nothing but the basic phone apps are running. Rebooting or battery pulling does not bring the icons back.And this only happened on Gingerbread. The same games did not disappear when I connected the phone to the PC on Froyo.
I have had this happen a few times. I have a custom ringtone for my Alarm Clock. I put it in a folder on the SD Card: media/alarms. When I hook up the phone through USB to organize or add/delete files using a computer, the next morning my alarm clock has defaulted to an on-phone ringtone. I was used to my sounds being different while I have the SD card actively unmounted, but the settings were always maintained when I returned.

I have a folder called Music and within that I keep a load of folders with albums inside each. However for the albums that wont play, if I move individual songs outwith their album folder so that they just sit as loose files within the music directory then the music player recognises them.

Not rooted start showing constantly an icon of a plain as it was in flight mode and if you go to settings it shows that the flight mode is off. Also it is not recognising any SIM. I've uninstalled KIES along with the drivers and installed them back again to no avail. View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a 32GB SD card to my Galaxy SII and moved most movable apps to it. However, now I need to copy some stuff from my PC to the 'internal' SD card and I can't connect to it.
I do the regular 'USB utilites -> Connect storage to PC' routine, but all I get on the PC is the external card.
How can I access the 'internal' SD card without physically removing the external one? BTW, I'm on official, non-rooted ICS 4.0.4.

At first it was all good, but then last week, I started noticing the battery started draining quicker than normal. Usually, I can get around 10 hours of use, but this went down at first to 8 hours, then rapidly plummeting to 6 then 4 hours. The shop where I got the phone from advised that it could be software corruption or faulty battery, and they were happy to send the phone off to Samsung to get it checked out, but I decided to run a few tests myself. I bought myself a genuine Samsung high capacity battery (I need it anyway), and installed it. I noticed that the battery drain was still happening, so it was not faulty battery. Then I decided to try removing the SD card.
View 6 Replies View Relatedmy PC can't read it any more. When I plug it into the card reader, it is detected, but always with a message like "The disk in drive H: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?". The card seems to work fine in the phone, all the data is available. I didn't used to have this issue before, but I wouldn't be able to tell you off hand when I last used the card via card reader.
So my first guess was that some recent firmware upgrade may have changed the filesystem on the mem card. I downloaded the ext2/3 drivers from ext2fsd.com , but that didn't help either. I haven't yet had a chance to connect the phone via USB directly and explore the card that way, but it usually takes quite long to transfer files that way. So what can I try to get Windows to read the card? Is it a filesystem issue? Has anybody seen this before?I am running Android 4.0.3 on Samsung firmware (I9100DXLPA).
ive had the s2 now for a day and a half and when i transfered my sim card into my phone it didnt contain any numbers so im prepared to manually enter them all. however with adding my email accounts and facebook alot of my contacts have appeared but i dont want them all. ive got it to only show contacts added to my phone so i have three entries in yhe phonebook but texts and calls are picking up the names from my syncd contactsif i remove the accounts from contacts settings accounts , does this delete all the details from yhese accounts so will my email contacts be syncd and removed from my address books on my email account

I also tried to change the setting of the email app to save all messages to the SD card, but it would not allow it.
I have to use my phone in mass storage mode in order for it to be seen by my car stereo (Alpine x305s). However, It appears that you can only access the internal memory of the phone in this mode. Strangely, it does have a folder called external_sd, but this seems to reference a folder on the internal space. How I can access my external (32 gig) card.
