Galaxy S5 :: SD Card Recognized But Unable To Format
Apr 16, 2014
So I just got my GS5 and bought a 64gb SD card from sandisk certified for Android. So anyways I drop in a few songs to test it and it works fine. Now I am unable to format or unmount my sd card. The buttons are grayed out.
i have just bought 8520 curve..i used a 1gb sd card in nokia 2700 classic works fine i format it and put it in my BB 8520 in setting>memory option>it says that media card didnt read etc make sure format it when i format it its says "UNABLE TO FORMAT"..how can i make this card work?
My Micro SD Memory Card that got with Nokia 5130 xpress music,is not able to format or delete any data from it and also not able for save any data to it.
I downloaded a couple apps from App World( crunch sms, a game, and ebay) and the game and sms I didn't like so deleted and restarted and now it says I have an unformatted media card and would I like to format. But if I format then won't it erase all of my stuff on the media card?
I've gone ahead and bought a 8GB Sandisk card because I don't want to be limited on the amount of music I can put on my player at any given time. For the most part the thing works(ed) like it was suppose to. Dragged over all my Media files from my 1gb and things have been cool ever since. Now while I take good care of my BB Curve 8320, it takes the odd fall here and there. Never enough to damage or mar the screen and these falls have happened WITH the new 8GB card inside.....up until today, when it took a bunny hop of a fall...and now the card is "Unreadable and needs formatting"
WTF? I'm all ready to format it, but whenever I try doing so using the Blackberry...it freezes. Whenever I try doing it on my computer...I get no response. I heard someone said to put it in the big SD adapter thing and try using it on a comp and formatting it there...I'll have to search for a comp with an SD drive to get that done in a bit...but incase that doesn't work...Do I have any other options?
This is absolute crap..when I opened the BB to see if the chip was dislodged, it wasn't...the BB won't read it now...it reads the other 1gb quite fine but not this one....and living in a third world country It's not like as is I can bomb over there and get another card for a decent price as opposed to purchasing a severly marked up one here. Has anyone ever had this sort of problem with any of the bigger model phones? I'm starting to think that this Curve thing is too 'delicate' for my liking.
I encrypted my memory card, worked ok for months. Today I showed a buddy of mine the encryption application, which asked if the memory card should be encrypted (encryption was already enabled). No Keyfiles/Passwords where asked for. The Phone crashed after that (hard reset after 5 hours). So the card is now encrypted, but there appears to be no valid key file on the device... So we have the usual issue: encrypted card, no keyfile or password. My problem is different in the following aspect: I don't want to recover any data - I just want to reformat the card and use my last (weekly) backup. However the phone won't let me do this. The following steps were taken to solve this issue without success:A complete Restore using the PC Suite does not restore any memory card contents or keys. The memory card stays "corrupted", encrypted and unwritable."Format Memory Card" says "card corrupted". Upon issuing the format request it says "Another application is using this memory card. Proceed" (which I confirm, as I suppose the crypto driver grabs the device) and then the program does nothing. It returns to the starting screen with "memory card corrupted".ReEnabling Encryption with a different key keeps saying that "No keys found", even after setting a new one. Sidenote: Even with a new key the card can't be formatted, as described above. The Phone was reset (using *#7370#, the 3+*+Green never worked on my phone) to factory defaults. Still the card was correctly recognized as encrypted and remained unusable as described above.Using a PC to format the memory card fails, as only the first 512kB appear to be writable (using dd under linux to write sequential zeroes). Despite writing this zero-dump, the phone still recognizes the card as encrypted, which implies that data on the card survived that crude zeroing attempt. Interestingly enough I can create a FAT32 Filesystem on these 512KB (not quick format), which appears to have no effect on the phone considering the card encrypted...The card is ok, since it was only removed after the problem occured. This must be an encryption issue. I suspect that the "Read Only" Password was set on the SD Card (hardware side, not E71 software) and hence all read/write operations are declined by the card.Is there any way to actually reset the encryption state of this card? As I previously said: I am not trying to recover any data, I just want a cleanly formatted microSD card..
I purchased a 16gb micro sd for the phone. Copied files to it and inserted it into phone. When phone is connected to usb the card mounts and I can see it from the PC and copy files to it. When I try to browse the card from the phone, it is not found. I thought I had formatted it FAT32, but of I look at card properties in file explorer on the PC, it says 'File System: Generic hierarchical'. So I'm thinking perhaps it is not formatted properly. If I am to try another format, is it best to let the phone format it, or do it in a card reader on the PC first? I'm worried if I let the phone do it I may wipe my internal SD by mistake.
I just ordered the SII and is getting delivered later today. I have just converted some films using Badaboom and have my photos from my iPhone 4 waiting to go on to new phone.o I just copy the files I want straight across onto the memory card as they are or will I need to format the card 1st to put on any file structures that may be required?
So far my SD card has unmounted itself twice, and I've had to remove the battery and reseat the card. Yesterday it unmounted, and now I can't get the phone to recognise there's a card installed (I've tried 2 different ones). Running Gingerbread 2.3.4 standard Samsung firmware, no network customization and not rooted.
Was taking pictures on my phone and got a notification while taking pictures that my sd card is not recognized. then all my photos were gone. got an adapter sd card to open it on my laptop and it does not recognize it either. how do I get my data and pictures off there now, is there a way to recover them yet.
I'm trying to copy things over to my Micro SD 32gb for my Samsung S5 but everytime i put it into my computer it tells me to format it which i also cannot do. It says their is a write protection on, how do i remove and fix this problem?
I am facing an error on some files downloaded from ovi player as- "File format not recognized". I have ovi music unlimited subscription. Although i have tried reinstalling windows media player, Ovi player etc., but those certain files just redownload in few seconds and also they have Unknown Artists and unknown Albums with them. While i have no problems in playing other files , so i don't think this is a codec related issue.
My lg3 phone is not responding to the SIM card in it. I've tried cleaning it and making sure it's in correctly and restarting it with the sim in it. Still not responding to the SIM card.
I had a problem where I couldn't make calls properly due to an OS curruption.. So, I did a repair on my once again updating the ICS.. After that I felt like the phone is little slow whenever I go into an app and returns home. So, I thought of completely formatting the SD card & also updating the OS to ICS by a repair.. can I anyone tell me how to do that or any other proceadures?
I just got a new Blackberry 9700, and it was with Telus before. I got it unlocked, and the guy at Rogers put in a new sim card, but nothing changed. It still comes up as Telus when i turn it on, and it says "Off" where the signal bars are.
I've been scouring the internet for solutions and can't find any help. Here goes:I have a blackberry 8820 with TMobile as my carrier. I purchased the blackberry off ebay (it was unlocked and previously used with AT&T) and it has worked for the past several months just fine.A few days ago I recieved the JVM error 102, after looking for solutions and none of them working, I just reinstalled the OS through the desktop manager (version 4.7).Now the phone is able to start up and seemingly function properly, however: the phone has reverted to its original AT&T theme and it does not recognize my SIM card. The entire GUI is different than it was previously, and it is incapable of making any calls nor connecting to the T-Mobile network. I have not loosened any screws or otherwise made any modifications, and I've no clue what to do.
My Xperia X10 mini isn't recognising my SD card all of a sudden. It's the original SD card that came with the phone and I've also bought and tried a brand new Sandisk SD card, but still no look. Message is ''Removed SD card' even when card is mounted. Can't format the card as it's not mounted, tried formatting via PC too but again PC won't recognise either new or original SD card. Can't run phone updates as need a memory card to do that too
Just wondering if I need to format my MicroSD card before I use it in my new LG Xenon? If so, what should it be formatted as - FAT32 or NTFS?Didn't see this in the manual.
I can not format my SD card ( SanDisc 16gb 4, bought from Staples original one) on Atrix 2. I had this issue also with SD card from AT&T that came with phone. I thought that formating will resolve problem with disappearing apps from
I purchased a 8gb memory card for my torch and it worked for a few days then brought up a message saying the card has errors and needs to be repaired i would repair these errors and i formatted the card and it still carried on bringing up the same message I then purchased a 16gb memory card and the same message came up. I formatted the card , repaired all errors on my computer and off my phone. when i transfer all my media to the card and put it in the phone it says format card everytime i put it in i then format the card and re put everything on the memory card , "safely remove" it and put it back in my phone and it says format again?
I recently had dropped my phone. Now when I turn it on it says I need to format my memory card, which I did. And I lost all my pictures and videos, but I still can't get my memory card to work. It says format failed. Is there something I can do? Or do I need to go get a new memory card?
i tried to install a new sd card on my phone since it came without one but the phone doesn't recognize it, is it possible to format a new card online then install it afterwards?
I inserted a new 32gb Sandisk card. I am notified that the SD card is blank or has an unsupported file system. I try to mount the card. It says on top:"Blank SD card". I then press Format SD Card. It says Erase the card .. Ok ..then Erase everything. I turned off the phone ... turned back on but no change.
I have tried to connect via PC Mode etc but the computer finds the card, i.e. gives it a letter, (e:) and I can browse D: (the main phone memory but that's it. Cannot be mounted or formatted.
So I have just bought a bold9780 and every time i try to insert my SD card into the phone a message pops up saying all media files will be on my phone, but then all of a sudden another message shows up saying "media card storage can not be accessed due to fatal errors". I'm not sure what to do..
