I'm trying to copy things over to my Micro SD 32gb for my Samsung S5 but everytime i put it into my computer it tells me to format it which i also cannot do. It says their is a write protection on, how do i remove and fix this problem?
View 1 RepliesI bought an sd card and formatted it with my blackberry curve 8520 and it formatted. I started copying music t it. After, I tried deleting something i did not want anymore and the card gave me errors. I used my pc and it said the card was write-protected. I had two micro sd cards (8GB) turn write protected for no reason. My internet is connected 24/7 and I use microsoft essential up-to-date so i dont see why my card have to turn write protected. I've tried changing security settings in phone on and off later but its still write protected. I've used every means of formatting from ubunto to windows 7. If I delete files with pc or the phone, it disappears from the screen but come back again. None of the file are corrupted cos they work well but i cant delete nor format anything. What is the problem here.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just picked up a sandisk 4g microSD and Sandisk adapter.I formatted the card in my phone, moved images to it and can access it by plugging it into my printer.I wanted to move ringtones onto the card from my pc but I keep getting a "disk is write protected" message.From a search I learned to look for a switch on the side of the card...well there's no switch on the micro card and the switch on the side of the adapter says "lock". I've tried that switch in both positions but it doesn't make a difference.I've used a magnifying glass to look the micro card over but there's no switch.I was able to copy images from the phone to the card then from the card to my pc so I know they're communicating, I just can't write to the card from the pc.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi was charging my Xperia V on my laptop, and i received a call. Because of the rush, i just unplugged it off the cable and answered. When i plugged back in, the files in the memory card were no longer avalible from the phone (apps included) and it can't even read it with a SD adapter. I tried it on my desktop and i'm able to see the files, but i can't either format or move/copy/etc. Tried already to format in a mac, a camera and another phone, and failed. Tried another memory card on my phone and it works. Also tried with the SD adapter unlocked, and failed as well. I want to format it or remove the write protect.

The micro sd works in my galaxy tab 3 and a friends S4.
The S5 does however recognise the Sandisk 16GB SDHC that came with my galaxy tab.
When I connect an sd card reader to the s5 via the micro usb slot the phone recognises the card???
What else have I have tried.....
1) S5 factory reset of lollipop.
2) Formatting the micro sd
I bought this 128 GB SDHC card. When I try to load music onto it, it recognizes about 10 GB and then everything after that it says "player does not support this kind of file," though it's all just mp3s or m4as, both of which the card is recognizing. The files get loaded onto the card but can't be played, or even organized by artist or title. I've tried formatting, no good. I even contacted the seller and had him send me a new one, but the same problem occurred, so it's not a defect in one single card. I've tried loading the files through a card reader and directly through the phone, no luck. If it's a 128 GB card, how come it won't recognize any files past 10 GB?
Update: I just ran SD Insight on my phone. It tells me the model is APPSD and the size of the card is 134 GB. However, under manufacturer, it says, "SD card is invalid." Some more info from the scan: Serial #0x687, manufactured June 2015, SD card specification: physical layer version 2.00, CPRM security support: SDHC card (security version 2.00).
So I just got my GS5 and bought a 64gb SD card from sandisk certified for Android. So anyways I drop in a few songs to test it and it works fine. Now I am unable to format or unmount my sd card. The buttons are grayed out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S5, unrooted, and I have been using a Samsung Evo 32 GB MicroSD card since I bought the phone in July. About a week ago I went to check for a photo and found that all of my photo albums that were stored on the MicroSD card were not found, along with all of my music and ringtones. When I looked at the storage, it didn't read my MicroSD card at all.
I turned off the phone, took out the microSD card, and put it into my Samsung Galaxy TabPro tablet, but my tablet read no data at all on the MicroSD card.
I tried to put the MicroSD card into an adapter to look at it on my laptop, but the adapter software said the card had to be formatted before it could be opened in Windows, so I dropped that idea for now.
How to have my card readable again or at least be able to retrieve the photos that were on the card? I had transferred a lot of personal and important photos onto the card (recent weddings of friends and family, pictures of my dog, etc.), and I'll be pretty upset if that's all truly lost forever.
I have ever a problem when I download or save something it goes to the phones memory not the micro sd card?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI picked up my new S6 from the Sprint store yesterday. I almost have all of my parameters set, outside of my pics & music from my S4 Mini . The guy at the Sprint store supported me with the contacts, and also put all of my music/video/pics onto the 32G Micro SD that I installed in the phone about 18 months ago.
I have the Micro Card, the Micro SD adapter to regular USB for my PC. I've made separate folders on my PC from the card---Video-Music-Pics, but there's some stuff I'm not familiar with that shows up as well.
My question is, what mode does my new S6 need to be in when I transfer this stuff to the phone?
I will say that some of the music (I have a LOT) wasn't set up very well in my S4 Mini and thats my fault for being in a hurry, but it did what I wanted it to do. I have the S6 plugged into my PC via charging cord/USB, and the Micro SD is in another USB port on the PC---
My phone came with a little tool as thin as a safety pin and there is a small hole in this slot. .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 16gb Micro SD card that Ive been using in a Storm 2 9550 for a lil while. Well ive sold the storm 2 and since then the card has been sitting there in a box. When I insert the 16gb Micro SD card into the Bold, It says a memory card has been inserted would you like to format it? So It then asks me if I would like to format either the device memory (Internal Memory) or the Media Card (External Memory) So I obviously pick Media Card, Then It says "Formatting Card, Please Wait...." My phone freezes up and does nothing, Ive left my phone at this screen for 30 minutes, Everything quits working. I have to pull the battery in order to make the phone functional again. Ive already tried wiping the Bold (Security Wipe) and I have also tried formatting the device memory. When I go into work today Im going to try and format the card with a co-workers Storm 9530 Running 5.0 Hopefully this should solve any problems. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Oh and Ive called up AT&T they said they will send me a replacement device so im waiting on that to come.

I have been doing it this was for years with no problems. I thought earlier versions of Android did not really like the use doing this but the most recent, I thought it was okay.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have bought a new mobile Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini pro Sk17i and using a 4GB Micro SD Transcend card in it. All goes fine. But sometimes when I open the camera it shows an error "Memory card is write protected. Cannot edit files". The same error I get when I try to open the galler or media player. But I use a third party File manager App which shows and allow me to open the contents in the Micro SD card except image and music, video files. Other files such as .pdf, .html open in Adobe reader, HTML viewer or browser without any issue. Also this error does not appear after I restart the mobile. For some 5 - 6 usage of camera this error again appears. And the card is not damaged since I checked with connecting to the Laptop thorugh USB mode (both Mass storage and Media transfer mode) also through a card reader, everything works fine.
