Oct 18, 2011I found that my N8 cannot play mpg files, which to me seems like a huge limitation.Which media formats does it support, and are there any way to increase the number of supported formats without resorting to tedious converting software?

Jan 15, 2012adding support for more music formats? I was reading about the hardware specs of my N8, and I found out that it has a broadcom chip. This broadcom chip comes with some hardware support to many audio format, being more specific, flac. This format is very acclaimed by the audiophile community, without saying I'm one of them. flac is a excellent format since it is a lossless format. Now, knowing this, why Nokia don't add flac support to the default music player? the chip itself support it! What do you guys think about it? How can we suggest this to Nokia?

Jul 11, 2012I cannot get the media transfer to work with my 808 pureview, it worked fine with my E7 running Anna, but it just get stuck "searching for device" when I plug the 808 in. If I set the 808 to media transfer I get the message "your 808 is not in a mode used for media transfer" then when I swtich it back to Nokia Suite, media transfer gets stuck looking for a device?

Jul 17, 2012I have a contact for my home landline number, and the number is correct (i.e. it works when I call home). The contact also has a picture, and a custom ringtone.When I phone the N8 from the home number, it doesn't use the custom ringtone, it doesn't show the picture, and when I look in the log, it hasn't recognised the call as coming from my contact, but it has got the correct phone number (proving that I'm not masking the number on calls from the home landline).
Is there something special I have to do to persuade the N8 to accept UK landline calls, and match them up with my contacts? I've checked my contacts, and only one contains the home landline number, so the N8 is not finding the wrong contact.My wife's mobile works just fine, so the basic mecanism is OK. All my Spotify songs are saved onto my SD card, and I understand mediaserver plays a part in playing the songs but I was wondering if it is normal to have such a high percentage? Feb 16, 2015Media server is killing my battery, and fast. I mean a 40% drop in 2 hours yesterday while phone was on sleep with wifi and mobile data disabled. I'm in the UK using S5 900F standard model on kitkat 4.4.2.
Since then I have:
- unmounted Samsung SD card (it only had a few photos and apps on it, had it a week)
- force stopped all "media apps" despite dire warnings as to world ending if I do so etc, and cleared data
- repeatedly cleared cache
- rebooted phone in safe mode and am monitoring. Battery drain is better but media server is still the main culprit at 27% (down from 51% but still..)
I can't keep it on safe mode all day as it's highly inconvenient.
Phone is unrooted, 3 months old so warranty is important. I can't download mediaserver killer etc
I am unable to isolate which media files are causing this or why. I thought it was the SD card which I added recently but it's a Samsung and should work, plus the problem hasn't disappeared after removing it.
I haven't downloaded any apps since the problem started, or downloaded any media files. I have no games on the phone. A little music, Spotify premium (force stop and now disabled by safe mode), 50 photos. Before the mediaserver problem started about a week ago, battery lasted 1 1/2 days at least. I'm not a heavy user of online media (bit of YouTube but never download or watch movies on my phone).
