Nokia Nseries :: N8 Wlan Won't Disconnect At Home?
Oct 27, 2010
how do i get my N8 to stay disconnected from wlan when i'm at home? Gone through all my settings but it still re-connects when i select disconnect.
My old 5800 you selected disconnect and it did that and stayed off till i wanted to reconnect but the N8 just keeps on re-connecting. Will this eat my battery life if it stays connected ?
I have Nokia E71 and I need your help about something. I have connected my mobile phone with my home wireless. However, I do not want to be connected all the time because I realised that my battery is getting low quicker. Do you know if there is something in the setting which stops the automatically connection with my home wireless and give me the chance to connect when I want?
i had to use the 3 finger hard format on my phone. Everything was working ok after this (recovered ovi store and maps without a problem) untill i saw that the phone stayed conected on wifi. If i would disconnect it would just reconect imediately. same whould happen if i deleted the wifi access point but with 3g internet this time. After i installed a firewall i found out that a program called OMB (ombserver.exe made by nokia) kept connecting to the net. What is this program and why does it connect to the internet ? I blocked it through the firewall and the problem is solved and everything else works ok but haven't had this problem before.
After updating to ANNA, my phone does not disconnect from my cars built in hands free kit. It worked without issue before the update. The phone does not close the connection. The only way to close the connection is to restart the phone, as the bluetooth connection hangs if I try and do it from the connection tab. I have done a hard reset on my phone with no success. I have also tried all the other deleting the connection and re-pairing suggestions out there, with no successful result.
My wifi stays constantly connected after the microsoft apps update. Running latest belle on n8. Powersave mode is active, and no apps are running. I have rebooted several times, and upon reboot the wifi connects and never disconnects. I have removed any widgets that access data and the problem remains, however those widgets were there prior to the update and wifi worked normally.
When I'm home and connects to my wlan, I'm writing a 26digit key for the wlan. Is there any way to get the N8 to remember this key? I have to write it every time I want to use it at home.
I've just got a Nokia 500 to replace my X6 and its a great little phone, but I can't find a way to turn off WLAN to conserve the battery. I set it up to connect to my home network, but everytime I disconnect it on the phone using the widgit on screen, it refreshes a few minutes later and reconnects - I've turned scanning off and set connection to manual but it made no difference.
I am a E63 user....the WLAN scanning suddenly stoped actually i was using an app for my phone,Upvise i wanted to cut the wifi connection i did so by going to connectivity>conn. mgr. and killed the connection after that i am uable to scan Wlan networks and when i go to WLAN wizard it shows 'system error'.
how to use WLan on my Nokia N97 Mini. I was able to detect the free Wi-fi connection in a mall. But after connecting i was unable to access any sites as it gave error: invalid server name. Ive tried at Mumbai Airport as well, but still the same error. I tried many different site but still the same error. Also sometime when i try some sites after connecting to WLAN, it prompts to connect via GPRS which should not be the case I believe. Both GPRS and WLAN are different. How do I access Internet via W-fi and not with the GPRS.
My N8 keeps connecting to OVI Store via WAP when WLAN available. Not only is WLAN available, it is connected and #1 in the list - checked via Connection Manager.
The Browser etc. has no problem - uses WLAN as expected. I can't find anywhere to set the OVI Store access priorities - I assume it's supposed to use Connection Manager?
My 5530XM is acting up again (v.11 firmware). The symptoms are random disconnects from WLAN and, after doing a soft reset, unable to put shortcuts on the home screen (using the Shortcuts theme). I really think the problem is with the memory card because I can't turn the phone on with the card inside.
Is there a way to scan/repair problems with the memory card? I really, really want to avoid a hard reset. Last time I did that, I lost all my apps from the memory card (I have the Games Edition). I can try using PC Suite or Ovi Suite to back up my memory card apps, but I don't trust the suites that much. What I'd like to do is drag and drop my memory card apps to another location in my PC, but I cannot see the memory card apps in Windows Explorer.
I've setup my wlan access in Internet destination. In this destination I set up wlan as priority 1 and mobile data as priority 2.Phone keeps moving wlan from Internet to Uncategorised destination. If I move it back to Internet it stays for some time and goes back to Uncategorised. Sometimes it happens while browsing. I want to go back one page and phone will show that it can't find the address. Have to go to settings and move it back to Internet destination. Ad nauseam. Did not have this problem on N8. My phone has static IP address on my home modem.
since there, never connects automatically to know networks. If i connect manually works fine, but if i dont fo that, it wont connect, whatever is application (browser, ovi, e-mail).
I have noticed that I always have to select my home WiFi network when at home but I am (pretty) sure this used to happen automatically. Is it possible that the menu options have been changed during the update to Symbian Anna.I never managed to be offered the 1/2 update to Anna so maybe something is missing.I have 3 menu's under connectivity in WLAN
- Switch to WLAN - Data use in home country (user manual says Data use in home network) - Data use when abroad (not mentioned in User Manual)
Ideally, when I need to access the internet, I would like my phone to automatically connect to my Home network if I am at home, secondly if not at homem, to automatically connect to other WLAN's that I have used previously if or if none available, connect via my ISP (use up some of my Data allowance)Always Nokia since 1994 including Nokia 2140, 7110e, 6150, 6210, 6310i, 6230i, N82Current: Nokia N8 (Anna) - and delighted with it!
OK my n8s wifi has just stopped working. It will not stop searching when I search for wlan and it has no results. ive had the phone for a year now and always work and not its not working. all the info i had set up for the home network are gone as well its like the phone never had wifi..
and no nothing is wrong with my network... all other phones find and connect while mine does not even find
suddenly my nokia 5800 is saying connection to wlan network lost when am on the internet using my wifi at home. It only did this rarely before but today its every 30 seconds to 1 minute (basically its impossible to load up anything....
I've looked around on the net but have not been able to find a solution to this problem.Using an N8 (on Nokia Belle), the WLAN settings does not seem to provide any place to specify the username and password for a proxy based network (Note:this is not the pre-shared key for the WLAN, but the username and password asked by the proxy server). When the browser is used, it prompts for the username and password and then works. However other applications cannot connect to this network as they seemingly lack this feature and the phone does not make this globally available.Nokia Configuration Tool (NCT) 6.3 seems to allow placement of username and password values. When configuration is transferred back to phone, NCT shows successfully configured, but this does not seem to be the case when the settings are used by the phone.
I'm trying to connect my phone (X3) with my home WLAN but it is always unsuccessful. The message that appears is always "security incorrect" even though I am very sure that the password I keyed in is the same as the password I have for my home WLAN.There is no problems with my home WLAN because I can use my laptop to access it and I'm currently using it. So, it there a problem with my phone? Can it be fixed?
Has anyone experienced this problem before? When I try adding any shortcut to the home screen, it shows a "running circle" icon on the home screen. Looks like it's loading, but it's just like that forever. This happens to all available shortcuts and most of the widgets except for Clocks and Map Apps.My phone is updated to the latest Belle.
I have a contact for my home landline number, and the number is correct (i.e. it works when I call home). The contact also has a picture, and a custom ringtone. When I phone the N8 from the home number, it doesn't use the custom ringtone, it doesn't show the picture, and when I look in the log, it hasn't recognised the call as coming from my contact, but it has got the correct phone number (proving that I'm not masking the number on calls from the home landline).
Is there something special I have to do to persuade the N8 to accept UK landline calls, and match them up with my contacts? I've checked my contacts, and only one contains the home landline number, so the N8 is not finding the wrong contact. My wife's mobile works just fine, so the basic mecanism is OK. I just needto persuade the N8 that 01420555555 = 01420555555 (I changed a few digits, to hide my actual number?
